¹Hezekiah began to reign when he was twenty-five years old; and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah.

¹ حزقیا در بیست و پنج سالگی به سلطنت رسید و مدّت بیست و نه سال در اورشلیم پادشاهی کرد. مادرش دختر زکریا بود و ابیه نام داشت.

²He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that David his father had done.

² او مانند جدّ خود داوود آنچه را که در نظر خداوند نیک بود، انجام داد.

³He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of Yahweh, and repaired them.

³ او در ماه اول سال اول سلطنت خود دروازه‌های معبد بزرگ را باز و ترمیم کرد.

⁴He brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the broad place on the east,

⁴ او کاهنان و لاویان را در میدان شرقی گردهم آورد

⁵and said to them, “Listen to me, you Levites! Now sanctify yourselves, and sanctify the house of Yahweh, the God of your fathers, and carry out the filthiness out of the holy place.

⁵ و به ایشان گفت: «ای لاویان، به من گوش فرا دهید، خود و معبد بزرگ را تقدیس کنید و چیزهای ناپاک را از معبد بزرگ خارج کنید.

⁶For our fathers have trespassed, and done that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh our God, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of Yahweh, and turned their backs.

⁶ زیرا نیاکان ما وفادار نبودند و در نظر خداوند، خدای ما کارهای پلیدی انجام داده‌اند. ایشان او را ترک کرده‌اند و از مسکن خداوند روی برگردانده و به او پشت کرده بودند.

⁷Also they have shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt offerings in the holy place to the God of Israel.

⁷ ایشان درهای معبد را بستند و چراغهایش را خاموش کردند. در معبد خدای اسرائیل دیگر بُخور و قربانی سوختنی تقدیم نکردند.

⁸Therefore the wrath of Yahweh was on Judah and Jerusalem, and he has delivered them to be tossed back and forth, to be an astonishment, and a hissing, as you see with your eyes.

⁸ شما به خوبی می‌دانید، چون خدا از یهودا و اورشلیم خشمگین بوده است و آنچه او بر سر ایشان آورده موجب حیرت و ترس همه شده است.

⁹For, behold, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.

⁹ پدران ما در نبرد کشته شدند و همسران و فرزندان ما را به اسارت برده‌اند.

¹⁰Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with Yahweh, the God of Israel, that his fierce anger may turn away from us.

¹⁰ «اکنون من تصمیم گرفته‌ام که با خداوند، خدای اسرائیل پیمان ببندم تا او از ما خشمگین نباشد.

¹¹My sons, don’t be negligent now; for Yahweh has chosen you to stand before him, to minister to him, and that you should be his ministers, and burn incense.”

¹¹ ای پسران من، اکنون کوتاهی نکنید، زیرا خداوند شما را برگزیده تا در حضورش خدمت کنید و خادمان او باشید و برای او بُخور بسوزانید.»

¹²Then the Levites arose, Mahath, the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites; and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehallelel; and of the Gershonites, Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah;

¹² پس لاویان آماده خدمت شدند: از خانوادهٔ قهاتیان: محت پسر عمسای و یوئیل پسر عزریا؛ از خانوادهٔ مراری: قیس پسر عبدی و عزریا پسر یهللئیل؛ از خانوادهٔ جرشونیان: یوآخ پسر زمه و عیدن پسر یوآخ؛ از خانوادهٔ الیصافان: شمری و یعیئیل؛ از خانوادهٔ آساف: زکریا و متنیا؛ از خانوادهٔ هیمان: یحیئیل و شمعی؛ از خانوادهٔ یدوتون: شمعیا و عُزیئیل.

¹³and of the sons of Elizaphan, Shimri and Jeuel; and of the sons of Asaph, Zechariah and Mattaniah;

¹³ ایشان برادران خود را گرد آوردند و خود را پاک کردند و مطابق فرمان پادشاه و کلام خداوند، داخل معبد بزرگ شدند تا آن را پاکسازی کنند.

¹⁴and of the sons of Heman, Jehuel and Shimei; and of the sons of Jeduthun, Shemaiah and Uzziel.

¹⁴ کاهنان به قسمت داخلی معبد بزرگ رفتند تا آن را پاکسازی کنند و آنچه را ناپاک یافتند از معبد بزرگ، به حیاط معبد بزرگ آوردند و لاویان آنها را به وادی قدرون بردند.

¹⁵They gathered their brothers, and sanctified themselves, and went in, according to the commandment of the king by the words of Yahweh, to cleanse the house of Yahweh.

¹⁵ ایشان در اولین روز ماه اول آغاز به پاکسازی کردند. در روز هشتم به اتاق ورودی معبد بزرگ رسیدند. آنگاه ایشان هشت روز دیگر کار کردند تا در روز شانزدهم، معبد بزرگ برای نیایش آماده شد.

¹⁶The priests went in to the inner part of the house of Yahweh, to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in Yahweh’s temple into the court of the house of Yahweh. The Levites took it, to carry it out abroad to the brook Kidron.

¹⁶ بعد لاویان نزد حزقیای پادشاه رفتند و به او گفتند: «ما تمام معبد بزرگ، قربانگاه قربانی‌های سوختنی و همهٔ لوازم آن، میز نان مقدّس و لوازم آن را پاکسازی کردیم.

¹⁷Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of Yahweh; and they sanctified the house of Yahweh in eight days: and on the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.

¹⁷ همچنین تمام لوازمی را که آحاز پادشاه در سالهایی که به خدا وفادار نبود برداشته بود، بازگرداندیم، آنها آماده و پاکسازی شده‌اند و در برابر قربانگاه خداوند قرار دارند.»

¹⁸Then they went in to Hezekiah the king within the palace, and said, “We have cleansed all the house of Yahweh, and the altar of burnt offering, with all its vessels, and the table of show bread, with all its vessels.

¹⁸ حزقیای پادشاه، روز بعد صبح زود همهٔ رهبران شهر را گرد آورد و با هم به معبد بزرگ رفتند.

¹⁹Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign threw away when he trespassed, have we prepared and sanctified; and behold, they are before the altar of Yahweh.”

¹⁹ در آنجا هفت گاو، هفت قوچ، هفت برّه و هفت بُز نر را به عنوان کفّارهٔ گناه برای خاندان سلطنتی، معبد بزرگ و ملّت آوردند و پادشاه به کاهنان که بازماندگان هارون بودند، امر کرد که آنها را بر قربانگاه خداوند قربانی کنند.

²⁰Then Hezekiah the king arose early, and gathered the princes of the city, and went up to the house of Yahweh.

²⁰ پس کاهنان گاوها را کشتند و خون آنها را بر قربانگاه پاشیدند. بعد قوچها را کشتند و خون آنها را هم بر قربانگاه پاشیدند، همچنین برّه‌ها را کشتند و خون آنها را هم بر قربانگاه پاشیدند.

²¹They brought seven bulls, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven male goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom and for the sanctuary and for Judah. He commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of Yahweh.

²¹ و در پایان، هفت بُز نر را برای کفّارهٔ گناه به حضور پادشاه و جمعیّت آوردند و دستهای خود را بر آنها گذاشتند.

²²So they killed the bulls, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar: and they killed the rams, and sprinkled the blood on the altar: they killed also the lambs, and sprinkled the blood on the altar.

²² بعد کاهنان آنها را کشتند و خون آنها را به عنوان کفّارهٔ گناهِ تمام مردم اسرائیل بر قربانگاه پاشیدند، زیرا پادشاه امر کرده بود که قربانی گناه و قربانی سوختنی برای تمام اسرائیل تقدیم شود.

²³They brought near the male goats for the sin offering before the king and the assembly; and they laid their hands on them:

²³ پادشاه از فرمانهایی که خداوند توسط جادِ رائی و ناتانِ نبی به داوود پادشاه داده بود، پیروی کرد و لاویان را با چنگ و بربط و سنج در معبد بزرگ گماشت.

²⁴and the priests killed them, and they made a sin offering with their blood on the altar, to make atonement for all Israel; for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel.

²⁴ پس لاویان با وسایل موسیقی، مانند آنهایی که داوود پادشاه استفاده کرده بود و کاهنان نیز با شیپورها آنجا ایستاده بودند.

²⁵He set the Levites in the house of Yahweh with cymbals, with stringed instruments, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king’s seer, and Nathan the prophet; for the commandment was of Yahweh by his prophets.

²⁵ حزقیا دستور داد تا قربانی سوختنی اهدا شود و همزمان مردم سرودهای نیایشی برای خداوند می‌خواندند و نوازندگان آغاز به نواختن شیپورها و همهٔ سازها کردند.

²⁶The Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.

²⁶ تمام کسانی‌که آنجا بودند به نیایش و سرودن پرداختند، موسیقی تا پایان مراسم قربانی سوختنی ادامه داشت.

²⁷Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering on the altar. When the burnt offering began, the song of Yahweh began also, and the trumpets, together with the instruments of David king of Israel.

²⁷ بعد از خاتمهٔ مراسم قربانی حزقیای پادشاه و همهٔ مردم زانو زدند و خدا را پرستش کردند.

²⁸All the assembly worshiped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded; all this continued until the burnt offering was finished.

²⁸ حزقیای پادشاه و رهبران قوم به لاویان گفتند تا سرودهای نیایشی را که داوود و آساف رائی نوشته بودند، بخوانند. سپس همه با شادی فراوان زانو زدند و خدا را پرستش کردند.

²⁹When they had made an end of offering, the king and all who were present with him bowed themselves and worshiped.

²⁹ حزقیا به مردم گفت: «شما که اکنون برای خداوند پاک شده‌اید نزدیک بیایید و قربانی و هدایای شکرگزاری را به معبد بزرگ بیاورید.» جماعت قربانی و هدایای شکرگزاری آوردند و هرکس که مایل بود، هدایای سوختنی آورد.

³⁰Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praises to Yahweh with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. They sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshiped.

³⁰ ایشان هفتاد گاو نر، صد گوسفند و دویست برّه به عنوان هدایای سوختنی برای خداوند آوردند.

³¹Then Hezekiah answered, “Now you have consecrated yourselves to Yahweh; come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of Yahweh.” The assembly brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a willing heart brought burnt offerings.

³¹ همچنین ایشان ششصد گاو و سه هزار گوسفند به عنوان قربانی برای مردم آوردند که بخورند.

³²The number of the burnt offerings which the assembly brought was seventy bulls, one hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt offering to Yahweh.

³² چون تعداد کاهنان برای قربانی کردن کم بود، لاویان به ایشان کمک کردند تا کار پایان یابد. در این زمان کاهنان بیشتری خود را پاک کردند. (لاویان در مورد پاک بودن وفادارتر از کاهنان بودند.)

³³The consecrated things were six hundred head of cattle and three thousand sheep.

³³ علاوه بر قربانی‌هایی که کاملاً سوزانیده می‌شد، کاهنان مسئول سوزاندن چربی قربانی سلامتی بودند که مردم آن را می‌خوردند و شرابی که روی قربانی سوختنی می‌ریختند. به این ترتیب، نیایش خداوند در معبد بار دیگر آغاز گردید. حزقیای پادشاه و تمام مردم شاد بودند، زیرا خدا به ایشان کمک کرد تا این کارها را به سرعت انجام دهند.

³⁴But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: therefore their brothers the Levites helped them, until the work was ended, and until the priests had sanctified themselves; for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.

³⁴ حزقیای پادشاه و تمام مردم شاد بودند، زیرا خدا به ایشان کمک کرد تا این کارها را به سرعت انجام دهند.

³⁵Also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and with the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of the house of Yahweh was set in order.

³⁶Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, because of that which God had prepared for the people: for the thing was done suddenly.
