¹Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to the house of Yahweh at Jerusalem, to keep the Passover to Yahweh, the God of Israel.

¹ مردم نتوانستند عید فصح را در زمان خود، یعنی ماه اول سال جشن بگیرند، زیرا تعداد کاهنانی که پاک شده بودند کافی نبود و عدّهٔ زیادی نیز در اورشلیم گرد نیامده بودند، پس حزقیای پادشاه، افسران او و مردم اورشلیم موافقت کردند که در ماه دوم جشن بگیرند و پادشاه، برای مردم اسرائیل و یهودا پیام فرستاد. او همچنین برای طایفه‌های افرایم و منسی دعوتنامه فرستاد تا به معبد بزرگ در اورشلیم بیایند و عید فصح را جشن بگیرند.

²For the king had taken counsel, and his princes, and all the assembly in Jerusalem, to keep the Passover in the second month.

² پادشاه و مردم از برنامهٔ خود خشنود بودند.

³For they could not keep it at that time, because the priests had not sanctified themselves in sufficient number, neither had the people gathered themselves together to Jerusalem.

³ پس ایشان همهٔ بنی‌اسرائیل را از دان در شمال تا بئرشبع در جنوب دعوت کردند که در اورشلیم جمع شوند و با جمعیّتی بزرگتر از همیشه، طبق قوانین، عید فصح را جشن بگیرند.

⁴The thing was right in the eyes of the king and of all the assembly.

⁴ قاصدان به دستور پادشاه و افسران او به سراسر اسرائیل و یهودا رفتند و مردم را چنین پیام دادند: «ای مردم اسرائیل، شما که از دست پادشاهان آشور رسته‌اید، اکنون به سوی خداوند، خدای ابراهیم، اسحاق و یعقوب بازگردید او به سوی شما باز خواهد گشت.

⁵So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beersheba even to Dan, that they should come to keep the Passover to Yahweh, the God of Israel, at Jerusalem: for they had not kept it in great numbers in such sort as it is written.

⁵ مانند نیاکان خود و اسرائیلی‌ها نباشید که به خداوند، خدای خود وفادار نبودند. همان‌طور که می‌بینید او بشدّت ایشان را مجازات کرده است.

⁶So the couriers went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, “You children of Israel, turn again to Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, that he may return to the remnant that have escaped of you out of the hand of the kings of Assyria.

⁶ مانند ایشان سرسخت نباشید، بلکه خداوند را پیروی کنید، به معبد اورشلیم، جایی که خداوند خدای شما، آنجا را تا ابد مقدّس نموده بیایید و او را پرستش نمایید تا دیگر از شما خشمگین نباشد

⁷Don’t be like your fathers, and like your brothers, who trespassed against Yahweh, the God of their fathers, so that he gave them up to desolation, as you see.

⁷ اگر به سوی خداوند بازگردید، آنگاه آنهایی که اقوام شما را به اسارت برده‌اند، بر ایشان ترحّم خواهند کرد و آنها را آزاد خواهند کرد تا به خانهٔ خود باز گردند، خداوند، خدای شما مهربان و بخشنده است. اگر به سوی او بازگردید او شما را خواهد پذیرفت.»

⁸Now don’t be stiff-necked, as your fathers were; but yield yourselves to Yahweh, and enter into his sanctuary, which he has sanctified forever, and serve Yahweh your God, that his fierce anger may turn away from you.

⁸ قاصدان به همهٔ شهرهای سرزمین افرایم و منسی و در شمال تا طایفهٔ زبولون رفتند، امّا مردم به ایشان خندیدند و آنها را مسخره کردند.

⁹For if you turn again to Yahweh, your brothers and your children shall find compassion before those who led them captive, and shall come again into this land: for Yahweh your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if you return to him.”

⁹ با وجود این عدّه‌ای از طایفه‌های اشیر، منسی و زبولون فروتن شدند و به اورشلیم آمدند.

¹⁰So the couriers passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, even to Zebulun: but they ridiculed them, and mocked them.

¹⁰ خداوند در یهودا مردم را متّحد کرد تا دستور پادشاه و افسران را که ارادهٔ خداوند بود، پیروی کنند.

¹¹Nevertheless certain men of Asher and Manasseh and of Zebulun humbled themselves, and came to Jerusalem.

¹¹ گروه بزرگی از مردم در ماه دوم در اورشلیم جمع شدند تا جشن عید نان فطیر را برگزار کنند.

¹²Also on Judah came the hand of God to give them one heart, to do the commandment of the king and of the princes by the word of Yahweh.

¹² ایشان تمام قربانگاههایی را که در اورشلیم برای قربانی و هدایای سوختنی استفاده می‌شد، به وادی قدرون انداختند.

¹³Many people assembled at Jerusalem to keep the feast of unleavened bread in the second month, a very great assembly.

¹³ در روز چهاردهم ماه دوم برّهٔ عید فصح را قربانی کردند. کاهنان و لاویان شرمسار ‌شده و خود را تقدیس نمودند و قربانی سوختنی به معبد بزرگ آوردند.

¹⁴They arose and took away the altars that were in Jerusalem, and all the altars for incense took they away, and cast them into the brook Kidron.

¹⁴ مطابق قوانین موسی مرد خدا، به وظایف خود گمارده شدند. لاویان خون قربانی را به کاهنان می‌دادند و آنها خون را بر قربانگاه می‌پاشیدند.

¹⁵Then they killed the Passover on the fourteenth day of the second month: and the priests and the Levites were ashamed, and sanctified themselves, and brought burnt offerings into the house of Yahweh.

¹⁵ عدهٔ زیادی در آنجا به‌خاطر اینکه پاک نبودند نمی‌توانستند برّه قربانی کنند، پس لاویان برای تمام کسانی‌که پاک نبودند برّه فصح را قربانی می‌کردند.

¹⁶They stood in their place after their order, according to the law of Moses the man of God: the priests sprinkled the blood which they received of the hand of the Levites.

¹⁶ عدّهٔ زیادی از افراد طایفه‌های افرایم، منسی، زبولون و یساکار خود را پاک نکرده بودند، ولی برخلاف شریعت از قربانی می‌خوردند. امّا حزقیا برای ایشان دعا کرد و گفت:

¹⁷For there were many in the assembly who had not sanctified themselves: therefore the Levites were in charge of killing the Passovers for everyone who was not clean, to sanctify them to Yahweh.

¹⁷ «ای خداوند، خدای نیاکان ما در نیکویی خود کسانی را که با تمام قلبشان تو را ستایش می‌کنند ببخش، حتّی گرچه آنها طبق مقرّرات مذهبی پاک نیستند.»

¹⁸For a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim and Manasseh, Issachar and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet they ate the Passover otherwise than it is written. For Hezekiah had prayed for them, saying, “May the good Yahweh pardon everyone

¹⁸ خداوند حزقیا را شنید و ایشان را آسیب نرساند.

¹⁹who sets his heart to seek God, Yahweh, the God of his fathers, even if they aren’t clean according to the purification of the sanctuary.”

¹⁹ مدّت هفت روز مردمی که در اورشلیم جمع شده بودند، عید نان فطیر را با شادی فراوان جشن گرفتند. لاویان و کاهنان با تمام توان همراه با آلات موسیقی خداوند را ستایش کردند.

²⁰Yahweh listened to Hezekiah, and healed the people.

²⁰ حزقیا از لاویان به‌خاطر مهارت ایشان در برگزاری مراسم نیایشی خداوند سپاسگزاری کرد. پس از هفت روز که قربانی‌های سلامتی تقدیم کردند و خداوند، خدای نیاکانشان را ستایش کردند،

²¹The children of Israel who were present at Jerusalem kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness; and the Levites and the priests praised Yahweh day by day, singing with loud instruments to Yahweh.

²¹ همه تصمیم گرفتند که مدّت هفت روز دیگر به برگزاری جشن ادامه دهند، پس هفت روز دیگر هم با شادمانی جشن گرفتند.

²²Hezekiah spoke comfortably to all the Levites who had good understanding in the service of Yahweh. So they ate throughout the feast for the seven days, offering sacrifices of peace offerings, and making confession to Yahweh, the God of their fathers.

²² حزقیا، پادشاه یهودا به حاضرین هزار گاو و هفت هزار گوسفند برای قربانی داد و مأموران مملکتی هم به مردم هزار گاو و ده هزار گوسفند دادند و در آن روزها تعداد زیادی از کاهنان خود را تقدیس کردند.

²³The whole assembly took counsel to keep other seven days; and they kept another seven days with gladness.

²³ تمام مردم یهودا، کاهنان، لاویان، همهٔ کسانی‌که از ناحیهٔ شمالی آمده بودند، به اضافهٔ بیگانگانی که در اسرائیل و یهودا زندگی می‌کردند همه شادی می‌کردند.

²⁴For Hezekiah king of Judah gave to the assembly for offerings one thousand bulls and seven thousand sheep; and the princes gave to the assembly a thousand bulls and ten thousand sheep: and a great number of priests sanctified themselves.

²⁴ شهر اورشلیم از شادمانی عظیمی پر بود، زیرا چنین رویدادی از زمان سلیمان پادشاه، پسر داوود رخ نداده بود. آنگاه کاهنان و لاویان ایستادند و مردم را برکت دادند. خدا صدای ایشان را شنید و نیایش ایشان به مکان مقدّس او در آسمانها رسید.

²⁵All the assembly of Judah, with the priests and the Levites, and all the assembly who came out of Israel, and the foreigners who came out of the land of Israel, and who lived in Judah, rejoiced.

²⁵ آنگاه کاهنان و لاویان ایستادند و مردم را برکت دادند. خدا صدای ایشان را شنید و نیایش ایشان به مکان مقدّس او در آسمانها رسید.

²⁶So there was great joy in Jerusalem; for since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel there was not the like in Jerusalem.

²⁷Then the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people: and their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to his holy habitation, even to heaven.
