1Now Elisha had spoken to the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, “Arise, and go, you and your household, and stay for a while wherever you can; for Yahweh has called for a famine. It shall also come on the land seven years.”

الیشع به زن شونمی که پسرش را زنده کرده بود، گفته بود: «برخیز و با خانوادهات به سرزمین دیگری برو، زیرا خداوند این سرزمین را برای مدّت هفت سال به خشکسالی دچار خواهد کرد.»
2The woman arose, and did according to the word of the man of God. She went with her household, and lived in the land of the Philistines seven years.

پس آن زن برخاست و مطابق کلام مرد خدا عمل کرد و با خانوادهٔ خود به سرزمین فلسطین رفت و هفت سال در آنجا ماند.
3It happened at the seven years’ end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines. Then she went forth to cry to the king for her house and for her land.

در پایان هفت سال او به اسرائیل بازگشت و نزد پادشاه رفت تا درخواست کند که زمین و خانهاش به او باز داده شود.
4Now the king was talking with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, “Please tell me all the great things that Elisha has done.”

در این هنگام پادشاه با جیحزی، خدمتکار مرد خدا گفتوگو میکرد و میگفت: «از کارهای بزرگی که الیشع انجام داده بگو.»
5It happened, as he was telling the king how he had restored to life him who was dead, that behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. Gehazi said, “My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.”

زمانی که جیحزی به پادشاه میگفت چگونه الیشع مرده را زنده کرده بود، زنی که پسرش زنده شده بود، برای دادخواهی نزد پادشاه آمد. جیحزی گفت: «ای پادشاه این همان زنی است که الیشع پسرش را زنده کرد.»
6When the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed to her a certain officer, saying, “Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.”

در پاسخ سؤال پادشاه او داستان جیحزی را تأیید کرد و پادشاه مأموری را برای او گماشت و به او گفت: «دارایی و همهٔ محصول هفت سال زمینش را به او بازگردانید.»
7Elisha came to Damascus; and Benhadad the king of Syria was sick. It was told him, saying, “The man of God has come here.”

هنگامیکه الیشع به دمشق رفت، بنهدد، پادشاه سوریه بیمار بود و به او خبر دادند که الیشع آنجاست.
8The king said to Hazael, “Take a present in your hand, and go, meet the man of God, and inquire of Yahweh by him, saying, ‘Will I recover from this sickness?’”

پادشاه به حزائیل گفت: «هدیهای با خود به نزد مرد خدا ببر و از طریق او از خداوند بپرس که آیا من بهبود خواهم یافت یا نه؟»
9So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels’ burden, and came and stood before him, and said, “Your son Benhadad king of Syria has sent me to you, saying, ‘Will I recover from this sickness?’”

حزائیل چهل شتر از بهترین محصولات دمشق بار کرد و نزد الیشع رفت. هنگامیکه حزائیل او را ملاقات کرد گفت: «بندهات بنهدد، پادشاه سوریه مرا فرستاده تا از شما بپرسم که آیا بیماری او بهبود خواهد یافت یا نه؟»
10Elisha said to him, “Go, tell him, ‘You shall surely recover;’ however Yahweh has shown me that he shall surely die.”

الیشع پاسخ داد: «خداوند بر من آشکار کرده است که او خواهد مرد، امّا برو و به او بگو که بهبود خواهد یافت.»
11He settled his gaze steadfastly on him, until he was ashamed. Then the man of God wept.

آنگاه الیشع با نگاهی ترسناک به او خیره شد تا او شرمگین شد و مرد خدا گریست.
12Hazael said, “Why do you weep, my lord?” He answered, “Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel. You will set their strongholds on fire, and you will kill their young men with the sword, and will dash in pieces their little ones, and rip up their women with child.”

حزائیل پرسید: «ای سرورم، چرا گریه میکنی؟»
الیشع پاسخ داد: «زیرا میدانم چه کارهای هولناکی علیه مردم اسرائیل انجام خواهی داد. تو قلعههای ایشان را به آتش خواهی کشید، مردان جوان را با شمشیر خواهی کشت و کودکان را تکهتکه خواهی کرد و شکم زنان آبستن را خواهی درید.»
13Hazael said, “But what is your servant, who is but a dog, that he should do this great thing?” Elisha answered, “Yahweh has shown me that you will be king over Syria.”

حزائیل گفت: «من کسی نیستم، چگونه میتوانم چنان قدرتی داشته باشم؟»
الیشع پاسخ داد: «خداوند به من نشان داد که تو پادشاه سوریه خواهی شد.»
14Then he departed from Elisha, and came to his master, who said to him, “What did Elisha say to you?” He answered, “He told me that you would surely recover.”

پس حزائیل به نزد سرور خود برگشت، بنهدد پرسید: «الیشع به تو چه گفت؟»
او پاسخ داد: «الیشع گفت یقیناً بهبود خواهی یافت.»
15It happened on the next day, that he took a thick cloth, dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died. Then Hazael reigned in his place.

فردای آن روز لحاف را در آب فرو برد و روی صورت بنهدد پهن کرد تا مُرد و حزائیل پادشاه سوریه شد.
16In the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being king of Judah then, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.

در سال پنجم پادشاهی یورام، پسر اخاب بر اسرائیل، یهورام پسر یهوشافاط پادشاه یهودا شد.
17He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign. He reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

یهورام در سن سی و دو سالگی پادشاه شد و مدّت هشت سال در اورشلیم حکومت کرد.
18He walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab; for he had the daughter of Ahab as wife. He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh.

دختر اخاب، همسر او بود و یهورام در راه پادشاهان اسرائیل گام برمیداشت، مانند آنچه خاندان اخاب بجا آورده بودند و آنچه را از نظر خداوند پلید بود، انجام میداد.
19However Yahweh would not destroy Judah, for David his servant’s sake, as he promised him to give to him a lamp for his children always.

امّا خداوند بهخاطر خدمتگزارش داوود، یهودا را نابود نکرد، زیرا خداوند قول داده بود که نسل او تا به ابد حکومت خواهند کرد.
20In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.
20
در زمان یهورام، اَدوم علیه حکومت اسرائیل شورش کرد و برای خود پادشاهی برگزید.
21Then Joram passed over to Zair, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and struck the Edomites who surrounded him, and the captains of the chariots; and the people fled to their tents.

پس یهورام با تمام ارّابههایش به صعیر رفت، در آنجا ارتش اَدومیان ایشان را محاصره کرد. شبانگاه او و فرماندهان ارّابههایش، توانستند که محاصره را بشکنند و بگریزند و سربازانش در خانههای خود پراکنده شدند.
22So Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah to this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.

اَدوم از آن به بعد استقلال خود را از یهودا حفظ کرده است. در این زمان شهر لبنه نیز شورش کرد.
23The rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

بقیّهٔ وقایع دوران سلطنت یهورام و کارهای او در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان یهودا ثبت شده است.
24Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his place.

یورام درگذشت و در گورستان سلطنتی در شهر داوود به خاک سپرده شد و پسرش اخزیا به جای او پادشاه شد.
25In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign.

در دوازدهمین سال پادشاهی یورام پسر اخاب، اخزیا پسر یهورام پادشاه یهودا شد.
26Twenty-two years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri king of Israel.

او در سن بیست و دو سالگی به سلطنت رسید و مدّت یک سال در اورشلیم پادشاهی کرد. نام مادرش عَتَلیا، دختر عُمری پادشاه اسرائیل بود.
27He walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, as did the house of Ahab; for he was the son-in-law of the house of Ahab.

او نیز در راه خاندان اخاب گام برداشت و کارهایی کرد که از نظر خداوند پلید بود همانگونه که خاندان اخاب عمل کرده بودند، زیرا او داماد خاندان اخاب بود.
28He went with Joram the son of Ahab to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth Gilead: and the Syrians wounded Joram.

اخزیای پادشاه به یورام پادشاه اسرائیل پیوست و برای جنگ با حزائیل، پادشاه سوریه به راموت در جلعاد لشکر کشید و یورام در نبرد زخمی شده بود.
او به شهر یزرعیل بازگشت تا زخمهایش بهبود یابند و اخزیا به عیادتش رفت.
29King Joram returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.

او به شهر یزرعیل بازگشت تا زخمهایش بهبود یابند و اخزیا به عیادتش رفت.
