¹Now about that time, King Herod stretched out his hands to oppress some of the assembly.

¹ در همان موقع هیرودیس پادشاه به شكنجه و آزار عدّه‌ای از اعضای كلیسا پرداخت

²He killed James, the brother of John, with the sword.

² و یعقوب برادر یوحنا را به شمشیر كشت.

³When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This was during the days of unleavened bread.

³ و چون دید یهودیان از این كار خوششان آمد، قدم فراتر گذاشت و پطرس را هم دستگیر نمود. این كار در روزهای عید فطیر اتّفاق افتاد.

⁴When he had arrested him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four squads of four soldiers each to guard him, intending to bring him out to the people after the Passover.

⁴ پس پطرس را گرفته به زندان انداخت و چهار دسته چهار نفری را به نگهبانی او گماشت. زیرا هیرودیس قصد داشت بعد از عید فصح او را تحویل قوم یهود بدهد.

⁵Peter therefore was kept in the prison, but constant prayer was made by the assembly to God for him.

⁵ درحالی‌که پطرس در زندان بود، كلیسا صمیمانه برای او به درگاه خدا دعا می‌کرد.

⁶The same night when Herod was about to bring him out, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains. Guards in front of the door kept the prison.

⁶ یک شب، قبل از آن روزی كه هیرودیس می‌‌خواست پطرس را به دادگاه بیاورد پطرس در زندان بین دو سرباز با دو زنجیر بسته شده و به خواب رفته بود و نگهبانان جلوی در زندان پاس می‌دادند.

⁷And behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side, and woke him up, saying, “Stand up quickly!” His chains fell off from his hands.

⁷ ناگاه فرشتهٔ خداوند در كنار پطرس ایستاد و نوری در آن اتاق تابید. فرشته به پهلوی پطرس زد و او را بیدار كرد و گفت: «زود برخیز.» فوراً زنجیرها از دستهایش به زمین افتاد.

⁸The angel said to him, “Get dressed and put on your sandals.” He did so. He said to him, “Put on your cloak, and follow me.”

⁸ فرشته به او فرمود، «كمر خود را ببند و كفشهایت را بپوش» و او چنان كرد. سپس فرشته به او گفت: «ردایت را به خودت بپیچ و به دنبال من بیا.»

⁹And he went out and followed him. He didn’t know that what was being done by the angel was real, but thought he saw a vision.

⁹ پس به دنبال او رفت و هیچ فكر نمی‌کرد آنچه فرشته انجام می‌داد، حقیقت داشته باشد. او گمان می‌کرد این وقایع را در رؤیا می‌بیند.

¹⁰When they were past the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate that leads into the city, which opened to them by itself. They went out, and went down one street, and immediately the angel departed from him.

¹⁰ وقتی از پاسگاههای اول و دوم گذشتند به دری آهنی كه به طرف شهر باز می‌شد رسیدند. در خود به خود به روی آنان باز شد. آنها بیرون رفتند، از کوچه‌ای می‌گذشتند که ناگهان فرشته ناپدید شد.

¹¹When Peter had come to himself, he said, “Now I truly know that the Lord has sent out his angel and delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from everything the Jewish people were expecting.”

¹¹ پطرس به خود آمد و گفت: «حالا دیگر یقین دارم، كه خداوند فرشتهٔ خود را فرستاده است كه مرا از دست هیرودیس و از آنچه یهودیان انتظار آن را داشتند برهاند.»

¹²Thinking about that, he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together and were praying.

¹² همین‌که به موضوع پی برد به خانهٔ مریم مادر یوحنا ملقّب به مرقس، كه عدّهٔ زیادی در آنجا برای دعا گرد آمده بودند رفت.

¹³When Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a maid named Rhoda came to answer.

¹³ وقتی در خانه را كوبید، خدمتکاری به نام رودا آمد تا در را باز كند.

¹⁴When she recognized Peter’s voice, she didn’t open the gate for joy, but ran in, and reported that Peter was standing in front of the gate.

¹⁴ امّا وقتی‌که صدای پطرس را شناخت، به عوض اینكه در را باز كند، از فرط شادی برگشت تا مژده دهد، كه پطرس بیرون در ایستاده است.

¹⁵They said to her, “You are crazy!” But she insisted that it was so. They said, “It is his angel.”

¹⁵ آنها به او گفتند: «مگر دیوانه شده‌ای؟» امّا او اصرار داشت كه راست می‌گوید. سپس گفتند: «پس حتماً فرشتهٔ محافظ اوست.»

¹⁶But Peter continued knocking. When they had opened, they saw him, and were amazed.

¹⁶ امّا پطرس پشت سر هم در می‌زد و وقتی در را باز كردند و او را دیدند، غرق تعجّب شدند.

¹⁷But he, beckoning to them with his hand to be silent, declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. He said, “Tell these things to James, and to the brothers.” Then he departed, and went to another place.

¹⁷ پطرس به آنها اشاره كرد تا ساكت شوند و برای ایشان شرح داد كه چگونه خداوند او را از زندان نجات داده است و در آخر گفت: «یعقوب و ایمانداران را از این امور باخبر كنید.» آنگاه ایشان را ترک كرد و به جایی دیگر رفت.

¹⁸Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers about what had become of Peter.

¹⁸ وقتی روز شد، پاسبانان بسیار مضطرب شدند، زیرا نمی‌دانستند به سر پطرس چه آمده است.

¹⁹When Herod had sought for him, and didn’t find him, he examined the guards, and commanded that they should be put to death. He went down from Judea to Caesarea, and stayed there.

¹⁹ هیرودیس دستور داد، كه همه‌جا دنبال پطرس بگردند، امّا وقتی او را پیدا نكردند، از نگهبانان بازجویی به عمل آورد و حكم کشتن آنان را صادر نمود. بعد از آن پطرس یهودیه را ترک نموده به قیصریه آمد و مدّتی در آنجا ماند.

²⁰Now Herod was very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon. They came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus, the king’s personal aide, their friend, they asked for peace, because their country depended on the king’s country for food.

²⁰ هیرودیس بغض و كینهٔ شدیدی نسبت به مردمان صور و صیدون در دل داشت. به این جهت اهالی آن دو شهر به اتّفاق پیش او آمدند و بلاستوس را كه فراش خوابگاه پادشاه بود، با خود همراه كردند و تقاضای صلح نمودند، زیرا كشور آنان در امر تغذیه و خوراک محتاج كشور هیرودیس بود.

²¹On an appointed day, Herod dressed himself in royal clothing, sat on the throne, and gave a speech to them.

²¹ هیرودیس در یک روز معیّن لباس سلطنتی پوشید و بر تخت نشست و نطقی ایراد كرد.

²²The people shouted, “The voice of a god, and not of a man!”

²² در پایان مردم فریاد می‌زدند: «این سخنان، سخنان یكی از خدایان است نه یک انسان.»

²³Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he didn’t give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and died.

²³ و چون هیرودیس جلالی را كه از آن خداست به خود نسبت داده بود در همان لحظه فرشتهٔ خداوند او را نقش زمین كرد و كرمها او را خوردند و او مرد.

²⁴But the word of God grew and multiplied.

²⁴ پیام خدا هر روز با تأثیر بیشتری انتشار می‌یافت. برنابا و شائول وقتی مأموریت خود را در اورشلیم به پایان رسانیدند به انطاكیه برگشتند و یوحنای ملقّب به مرقس را همراه خود بردند.

²⁵Barnabas and Saul returned to TR reads “from” instead of “to” Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their service, also taking with them John whose surname was Mark.

²⁵ برنابا و شائول وقتی مأموریت خود را در اورشلیم به پایان رسانیدند به انطاكیه برگشتند و یوحنای ملقّب به مرقس را همراه خود بردند.
