¹Now in the assembly that was at Antioch there were some prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen the foster brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

¹ در آن زمان در كلیسای انطاكیه عدّه‌ای نبی و معلّم از قبیل برنابا و شمعون ملقّب به نیجر و لوكیوس قیروانی و مناحم (كه با هیرودیس پادشاه، بزرگ شده بود) و شائول حضور داشتند.

²As they served the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Separate Barnabas and Saul for me, for the work to which I have called them.”

² یک روز كه آنها روزه‌دار و مشغول عبادت خداوند بودند، روح‌القدس به ایشان فرمود: «برنابا و شائول را مأمور انجام آن كاری كه من برای آنها مقرّر کرده‌ام بنمایید.»

³Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

³ پس آنها بعد از روزه و دعا، دست بر سر آن دو گذاردند و آنها را به مأموریت فرستادند.

⁴So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia. From there they sailed to Cyprus.

⁴ این دو نفر كه فرستادگان روح‌القدس بودند، به بندر سلوكیه رفتند و از آنجا از راه دریا به قبرس آمدند

⁵When they were at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. They had also John as their attendant.

⁵ و وارد شهر سلامیس شدند و در کنیسه‌های یهودیان كلام خدا را منتشر می‌ساختند و یوحنا (كه مرقس لقب داشت) دستیار ایشان بود.

⁶When they had gone through the island to Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar Jesus,

⁶ آنها تمام جزیره قبرس را طی كردند تا به شهر پافس رسیدند. در آنجا به یک جادوگر یهودی كه نبی دروغین بود و بریشوع نام داشت برخوردند.

⁷who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of understanding. This man summoned Barnabas and Saul, and sought to hear the word of God.

⁷ او از ملازمین سرگیوس پولس، فرماندار قبرس كه مرد فهمیده‌ای بود، بشمار می‌آمد. فرماندار، برنابا و شائول را به حضور خود احضار نمود؛ زیرا می‌‌خواست كلام خدا را از آنها بشنود.

⁸But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn aside the proconsul from the faith.

⁸ امّا آن جادوگر كه نام یونانی او علیما بود، با آنان مخالفت می‌كرد و سعی داشت فرماندار را از ایمان آوردن باز دارد.

⁹But Saul, who is also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, fastened his eyes on him,

⁹ در این هنگام شائول كه به نام پولس معروف شده بود، پر از روح‌القدس شده به آن مرد چشم دوخت و گفت:

¹⁰and said, “Full of all deceit and all cunning, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

¹⁰ «ای فرزند شیطان، ای دشمن تمام نیکی‌ها، ای منبع نیرنگ و تبهكاری، آیا از منحرف ساختن مردم از راه راست خداوند دست بر نمی‌داری؟

¹¹Now, behold, the hand of the Lord is on you, and you will be blind, not seeing the sun for a season!” Immediately a mist and darkness fell on him. He went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand.

¹¹ حالا ببین، دست خدا تو را خواهد زد و نابینا خواهی شد و تا مدّتی نور آفتاب را نخواهی دید.» در همان وقت دنیا در نظر علیما تیره و تار شد و كوركورانه به این طرف و آن طرف می‌گشت تا شخصی را برای راهنمایی خود پیدا كند.

¹²Then the proconsul, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord.

¹² فرماندار كه این جریان را دید، ایمان آورد؛ زیرا از تعالیم خداوند سخت متحیّر شده بود.

¹³Now Paul and his company set sail from Paphos, and came to Perga in Pamphylia. John departed from them and returned to Jerusalem.

¹³ پولس و همراهان او پافِس را ترک كردند و از راه دریا به پرجهٔ پمفیلیه آمدند. یوحنا (مرقس) از آنان جدا شد و به اورشلیم بازگشت.

¹⁴But they, passing on from Perga, came to Antioch of Pisidia. They went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and sat down.

¹⁴ ایشان از پرجه گذشته به شهر انطاكیه كه یكی از شهرهای استان پیسیدیه است آمدند. در روز سبت به كنیسه وارد شدند و نشستند.

¹⁵After the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, “Brothers, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, speak.”

¹⁵ بعد از قرائت تورات و كتاب انبیا رؤسای كنیسه پیش ایشان فرستادند و گفتند: «ای دوستان چنانچه پیام تشویق کننده‌ای برای این قوم دارید بفرمایید.»

¹⁶Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, “Men of Israel, and you who fear God, listen.

¹⁶ پولس برخاست و با اشارهٔ دست، از ایشان درخواست نمود كه ساكت باشند و بعد چنین گفت: «ای مردان اسرائیلی و همهٔ شما كه خدا ترس هستید توجّه نمایید.

¹⁷The God of this people TR, NU add “Israel” chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they stayed as aliens in the land of Egypt, and with an uplifted arm, he led them out of it.

¹⁷ خدای قوم اسرائیل، نیاكان ما را برگزید و در آن هنگام كه آنها در سرزمین مصر در غربت زندگی می‌کردند آنان را قومی بزرگ ساخت و دست خود را دراز كرد تا آنان را از آن سرزمین بیرون آورد.

¹⁸For a period of about forty years he put up with them in the wilderness.

¹⁸ مدّت چهل سال در بیابانها متحمّل ایشان شد.

¹⁹When he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their land for an inheritance, for about four hundred fifty years.

¹⁹ پس از نابود ساختن آن هفت ملّتی كه مقیم كنعان بودند، سرزمین آنها را

²⁰After these things he gave them judges until Samuel the prophet.

²⁰ تا مدّت چهارصد و پنجاه سال به عنوان میراث به تصرّف اسرائیل در آورد. بعد از آن هم تا زمان سموئیل نبی، داوران را به ایشان بخشید

²¹Afterward they asked for a king, and God gave to them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years.

²¹ و وقتی آنها خواستند برای خود یک پادشاه داشته باشند، خدا شائول پسر قیس را كه مردی از طایفهٔ بنیامین بود، به ایشان داد تا او مدّت چهل سال حكمرانی كند.

²²When he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king, to whom he also testified, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after my heart, who will do all my will.’

²² بعد از آن او را بر كنار كرد و داوود را برانگیخت تا پادشاه ایشان شود. خدا در حق داوود چنین گواهی داده گفت: 'من داوود پسر یَسی را مورد پسند خود یافته‌ام. او كسی است كه هرچه بخواهم انجام می‌دهد.'

²³From this man’s seed, God has brought salvation TR, NU read “a Savior, Jesus” instead of “salvation” to Israel according to his promise,

²³ از نسل همین مرد، خدا بر طبق وعدهٔ خود عیسی را به عنوان نجات دهنده‌ای برای اسرائیل برانگیخت.

²⁴before his coming, when John had first preached the baptism of repentance to Israel. TR, NU read “to all the people of Israel” instead of “to Israel”

²⁴ قبل از آمدن او یحیی لزوم توبه و تعمید را به‌ همهٔ قوم اسرائیل اعلام می‌کرد

²⁵As John was fulfilling his course, he said, ‘What do you suppose that I am? I am not he. But behold, one comes after me the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.’

²⁵ و وقتی خدمت خود را به انجام رسانید گفت: 'من آن کسی‌که شما گمان می‌کنید نیستم. امّا بعد از من كسی می‌آید كه من لایق آن نیستم كه بند نعلین او را باز نمایم.'

²⁶Brothers, children of the stock of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, the word of this salvation is sent out to you.

²⁶ «ای برادران كه فرزند ابراهیم هستید و شما نیز ای کسانی‌که در این جمع حضور دارید و از خدا می‌ترسید، پیام این نجات به ما رسیده است،

²⁷For those who dwell in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they didn’t know him, nor the voices of the prophets which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning him.

²⁷ زیرا ساكنان اورشلیم و حکمرانان ایشان نه او را شناختند و نه از كلمات انبیا كه در هر روز سبت قرائت می‌شود چیزی فهمیدند، امّا با محكوم كردن او به پیشگویی‌های انبیا تحقّق بخشیدند.

²⁸Though they found no cause for death, they still asked Pilate to have him killed.

²⁸ اگر چه خطایی كه مستوجب مرگ باشد در او نیافتند، از پیلاطس تقاضا كردند تا او را اعدام كند.

²⁹When they had fulfilled all things that were written about him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a tomb.

²⁹ و بعد از آنكه تمام پیشگویی‌های کتاب‌مقدّس را در امور او به انجام رسانیدند او را از صلیب پایین آوردند و به خاک سپردند.

³⁰But God raised him from the dead,

³⁰ امّا خدا او را پس از مرگ زنده گردانید

³¹and he was seen for many days by those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses to the people.

³¹ و کسانی‌که در سفر از جلیل به اورشلیم همراه او بودند روزهای زیادی او را دیدند و هم اكنون در برابر قوم، شاهدان او می‌باشند.

³²We bring you good news of the promise made to the fathers,

³² ما در حضور شما مژدهٔ آن وعده‌ای را كه خدا به نیاکان ما داد اعلام می‌کنیم

³³that God has fulfilled the same to us, their children, in that he raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second psalm, ‘You are my Son. Today I have become your father.’ Psalm 2:7

³³ كه خدا برای ما كه فرزندان آنان هستیم با رستاخیز عیسی به آن وعده وفا كرده است، چنانکه در مزمور دوم آمده است: 'تو پسر من هستی امروز من پدر تو شده‌ام.'

³⁴“Concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he has spoken thus: ‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings of David.’ Isaiah 55:3

³⁴ باز هم در خصوص رستاخیز او از مردگان و اینكه دیگر او فساد را نخواهد دید، خدا چنین فرمود: 'من آن بركات مقدّس و قابل اطمینانی را كه به داوود وعده داده‌ام به تو خواهم بخشید.'

³⁵Therefore he says also in another psalm, ‘You will not allow your Holy One to see decay.’ Psalm 16:10

³⁵ و در جای دیگر می‌فرماید: 'تو به این رضا نخواهی داد، كه بندهٔ امین تو فساد را ببیند.'

³⁶For David, after he had in his own generation served the counsel of God, fell asleep, and was laid with his fathers, and saw decay.

³⁶ و امّا داوود كه در روزگار خود طبق ارادهٔ خدا خدمت كرده بود، درگذشت و به نیاکان خود ملحق شد و فساد را دید،

³⁷But he whom God raised up saw no decay.

³⁷ امّا آن کسی‌که خدا او را زنده گردانید، هرگز فساد را ندید.

³⁸Be it known to you therefore, brothers The word for “brothers” here and where the context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” , that through this man is proclaimed to you remission of sins,

³⁸ ای برادران، شما باید بدانید كه مژدهٔ آمرزش گناهان به وسیلهٔ عیسی به شما اعلام شده است.

³⁹and by him everyone who believes is justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.

³⁹ شما باید بدانید كه هرکس به او ایمان آورد، از تمام گناهانی كه شریعت موسی نتوانست او را آزاد نماید، آزاد خواهد شد.

⁴⁰Beware therefore, lest that come on you which is spoken in the prophets:

⁴⁰ پس مواظب باشید، كه این گفتهٔ انبیا در مورد شما صادق نباشد كه می‌فرماید:

⁴¹‘Behold, you scoffers, and wonder, and perish; for I work a work in your days, a work which you will in no way believe, if one declares it to you.’” Habakkuk 1:5

⁴¹ 'ای استهزا كنندگان توجّه كنید، حیران شوید و نابود گردید، زیرا در روزگار شما كاری خواهم كرد كه حتّی اگر كسی آن را برایتان بیان كند باور نخواهید كرد.'»

⁴²So when the Jews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath.

⁴² در موقع خروج از كنیسه مردم از آنها تقاضا كردند، كه سبت بعدی نیز دربارهٔ این امور برای ایشان سخن بگویند

⁴³Now when the synagogue broke up, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas; who, speaking to them, urged them to continue in the grace of God.

⁴³ و وقتی مجلس تمام شد، بسیاری از یهودیان و آنها كه به یهودیّت گرویده بودند، به دنبال پولس و برنابا به راه افتادند. این دو با آنان صحبت می‌کردند و ایشان را تشویق می‌‌نمودند كه در فیض الهی استوار بمانند.

⁴⁴The next Sabbath almost the whole city was gathered together to hear the word of God.

⁴⁴ هفتهٔ بعد تقریباً همهٔ ساكنان آن شهر برای شنیدن پیام خدا گرد آمدند.

⁴⁵But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with jealousy, and contradicted the things which were spoken by Paul, and blasphemed.

⁴⁵ امّا هنگامی‌که یهودیان جماعت را دیدند حسادت ورزیدند و هرچه را پولس می‌گفت، تكذیب می‌کردند و به او دشنام می‌دادند.

⁴⁶Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, and said, “It was necessary that God’s word should be spoken to you first. Since indeed you thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.

⁴⁶ پولس و برنابا با شهامت و جسارت گفتند: «لازم بود كه كلام خدا قبل از همه به گوش شما برسد، امّا چون شما آن را رد كردید و خود را لایق حیات جاودانی ندانستید، بدانید كه ما از این پس پیش غیر یهودیان خواهیم رفت،

⁴⁷For so has the Lord commanded us, saying, ‘I have set you as a light for the Gentiles, that you should bring salvation to the uttermost parts of the earth.’” Isaiah 49:6

⁴⁷ زیرا خداوند چنین فرموده است: 'من تو را نور تمام ملّتهای جهان خواهم ساخت تا اینکه تمام دنیا نجات یابند.'»

⁴⁸As the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of God. As many as were appointed to eternal life believed.

⁴⁸ وقتی غیر یهودیان این گفتار را شنیدند خوشحال شدند و از كلام خدا تعریف كردند و آنانی كه برای دریافت حیات جاودانی معیّن شده بودند، ایمان آوردند.

⁴⁹The Lord’s word was spread abroad throughout all the region.

⁴⁹ پیام خداوند در تمام آن سرزمین منتشر شد.

⁵⁰But the Jews stirred up the devout and prominent women and the chief men of the city, and stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and threw them out of their borders.

⁵⁰ امّا یهودیان زنهای متنفذی كه به یهودیّت گرویده بودند و بزرگان شهر را به ضد پولس و برنابا تحریک نمودند. پس آنان را آزار رسانیده از آن ناحیه بیرون كردند.

⁵¹But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came to Iconium.

⁵¹ امّا آن دو به عنوان اعتراض، خاک آن شهر را از پاهای خود تکانده و به شهر قونیه رفتند و شاگردان در انطاكیه پر از شادی و روح‌القدس گردیدند.

⁵²The disciples were filled with joy with the Holy Spirit.

⁵² و شاگردان در انطاكیه پر از شادی و روح‌القدس گردیدند.
