¹It happened in Iconium that they entered together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a great multitude both of Jews and of Greeks believed.

¹ در شهر قونیه نیز پولس و برنابا به كنیسه یهود وارد شدند و چنان صحبت كردند، كه گروه عظیمی از یهودیان و یونانیان ایمان آوردند.

²But the disbelieving or, disobedient Jews stirred up and embittered the souls of the Gentiles against the brothers.

² امّا یهودیانی كه ایمان نیاورده بودند، غیر یهودیان را تحریک كردند و افكار آنان را نسبت به این ایمانداران منحرف ساختند.

³Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who testified to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

³ آن دو مدّت زیادی در آن شهر ماندند و بدون ترس دربارهٔ خداوند سخن می‌گفتند. خداوند نیز با اعطای قدرت به آنها برای انجام عجایب و نشانه‌ها، پیام فیض بخش خود را تصدیق می‌فرمود.

⁴But the multitude of the city was divided. Part sided with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

⁴ امّا بین مردم شهر دودستگی افتاد، عدّه‌ای طرفدار یهودیان شدند و عدّه‌ای جانب رسولان را گرفتند.

⁵When some of both the Gentiles and the Jews, with their rulers, made a violent attempt to mistreat and stone them,

⁵ در این وقت یهودیان و غیر یهودیان با همدستی اولیای امور تصمیم گرفته بودند، به رسولان آزار برسانند و آنان را سنگسار نمایند.

⁶they became aware of it, and fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra, Derbe, and the surrounding region.

⁶ به محض اینكه رسولان از این موضوع آگاه شدند، به سوی شهرهای لیكائونیه یعنی لستره و دربه و نواحی مجاور فرار كردند

⁷There they preached the Good News.

⁷ و در آنجا به بشارت نجات ادامه دادند.

⁸At Lystra a certain man sat, impotent in his feet, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked.

⁸ در شهر لستره مرد مفلوجی نشسته بود، كه لنگ مادرزاد بود و هرگز با پاهای خود راه نرفته بود.

⁹He was listening to Paul speaking, who, fastening eyes on him, and seeing that he had faith to be made whole,

⁹ او به سخنان پولس گوش می‌داد. پولس به صورت او خیره شد و چون دید ایمان آن را دارد كه شفا یابد،

¹⁰said with a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet!” He leaped up and walked.

¹⁰ با صدای بلند به او گفت: «بلند شو و راست روی پاهای خود بایست.» او جست زد و به راه افتاد.

¹¹When the multitude saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voice, saying in the language of Lycaonia, “The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!”

¹¹ وقتی مردم كاری را كه پولس كرد دیدند، به زبان آن محل فریاد زدند: «خدایان به صورت انسان در میان ما فرود آمده‌اند.»

¹²They called Barnabas “Jupiter,” and Paul “Mercury,” because he was the chief speaker.

¹² برنابا را مشتری و پولس را عطارد خواندند. (پولس را از آن جهت عطارد خواندند، كه سخنگوی آنان بود.)

¹³The priest of Jupiter, whose temple was in front of their city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, and would have made a sacrifice along with the multitudes.

¹³ آنگاه كاهن پرستشگاه مشتری كه پرستشگاهش در خارج از شهر واقع بود گاوانی با حلقه‌های گل به دروازهٔ شهر آورد و می‌‌خواست به اتّفاق جماعت گاوان را قربانی كند.

¹⁴But when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of it, they tore their clothes, and sprang into the multitude, crying out,

¹⁴ امّا هنگامی‌که آن دو رسول، یعنی برنابا و پولس از این امر مطّلع گشتند، لباسهای خود را دریدند و به میان مردم رفته فریاد می‌کردند:

¹⁵“Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to the living God, who made the sky and the earth and the sea, and all that is in them;

¹⁵ «ای آقایان، چه می‌کنید؟ ما هم مثل شما انسان هستیم، با عواطف و احساساتی مانند خود شما. ما برای شما مژده‌ای داریم، كه از این کارهای بیهوده باز گردید و به خدای زنده‌ای كه آسمان و زمین و دریا و آنچه را كه در آنهاست آفریده است، روی آورید.

¹⁶who in the generations gone by allowed all the nations to walk in their own ways.

¹⁶ در دوران گذشته او اجازه داد كه جمیع ملّتها به راههای خود بروند.

¹⁷Yet he didn’t leave himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you TR reads “us” instead of “you” rains from the sky and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.”

¹⁷ در عین حال کارهای نیک او همیشه وجودش را ثابت نموده است. او به شما از آسمان باران و محصول به موقع عطا می‌کند، به شما غذا می‌دهد و دلهایتان را از شادمانی پر می‌سازد.»

¹⁸Even saying these things, they hardly stopped the multitudes from making a sacrifice to them.

¹⁸ رسولان با این سخنان به سختی توانستند مردم را از قربانی كردن برای ایشان باز دارند.

¹⁹But some Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there, and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul, and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead.

¹⁹ در این هنگام یهودیان از انطاكیه و قونیه رسیدند و مردم را با خود متّحد ساخته و پولس را سنگسار كردند و به گمان اینكه مرده است، او را از شهر بیرون كشیدند.

²⁰But as the disciples stood around him, he rose up, and entered into the city. On the next day he went out with Barnabas to Derbe.

²⁰ امّا وقتی شاگردان دور او جمع شدند او برخاست و به داخل شهر آمد و روز بعد به اتّفاق برنابا به دربه عزیمت كرد.

²¹When they had preached the Good News to that city, and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch,

²¹ پس از اینكه در آن شهر هم بشارت دادند و پیروان بسیاری یافتند، به لستره و قونیه و انطاكیه بازگشتند

²²confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many afflictions we must enter into the Kingdom of God.

²² و در بین راه شاگردان را تقویت می‌کردند و آنان را تشویق می‌‌نمودند كه در ایمان خود پایدار بمانند و به آنان می‌گفتند: «برای داخل شدن به پادشاهی خدا ما باید از راههای بسیار سختی بگذریم.»

²³When they had appointed elders for them in every assembly, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they had believed.

²³ در هر یک از كلیساها مشایخی را تعیین كردند و با نیایش و روزه ایشان را به دست آن خداوندی كه به او گرویده بودند، سپردند.

²⁴They passed through Pisidia, and came to Pamphylia.

²⁴ سپس از سرزمین پیسیدیه گذشتند و به سرزمین پمفیلیه رسیدند.

²⁵When they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.

²⁵ وقتی پیام را در پرجه هم اعلام كردند به اتالیه وارد شدند

²⁶From there they sailed to Antioch, from where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work which they had fulfilled.

²⁶ و از آنجا با کشتی به سوی انطاكیه رفتند. یعنی همان جایی‌که به‌خاطر خدمتی كه انجام داده بودند، به فیض الهی سپرده شده بودند.

²⁷When they had arrived, and had gathered the assembly together, they reported all the things that God had done with them, and that he had opened a door of faith to the nations.

²⁷ وقتی به آنجا رسیدند، اعضای كلیسا را جمع كردند و ایشان را از هرچه خدا به اتّفاق آنان انجام داده بود، مطّلع ساختند و نیز گفتند، كه چگونه خدا راه ایمان را به روی ملل غیر یهود گشوده است و در آنجا مدّتی پیش شاگردان ماندند.

²⁸They stayed there with the disciples for a long time.

²⁸ و در آنجا مدّتی پیش شاگردان ماندند.
