¹Some men came down from Judea and taught the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised after the custom of Moses, you can’t be saved.”

¹ عدّه‌ای از یهودیه به انطاكیه آمده بودند و ایمانداران را تعلیم داده می‌گفتند: «تا طبق سنّت موسی ختنه نشوید، نجات یافتن برایتان محال است.»

²Therefore when Paul and Barnabas had no small discord and discussion with them, they appointed Paul and Barnabas, and some others of them, to go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders about this question.

² پس از مناظره و مباحثه بسیار بین آنان از یک طرف پولس و برنابا از طرف دیگر، قرار بر این شد، كه پولس و برنابا و چند نفر دیگر برای تحقیق در اطراف این مسئله به اورشلیم پیش رسولان و رهبران كلیسا بروند.

³They, being sent on their way by the assembly, passed through both Phoenicia and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles. They caused great joy to all the brothers. The word for “brothers” here and where the context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.”

³ اعضای كلیسا ایشان را بدرقه نمودند و درحالی‌که از فنیقیه و سامره عبور می‌کردند، همه‌جا مژدهٔ ایمان آوردن ملّتهای غیر یهود را ابلاغ می‌‌نمودند و این خبر موجب شادی عظیم جمیع ایماندارن شد.

⁴When they had come to Jerusalem, they were received by the assembly and the apostles and the elders, and they reported all things that God had done with them.

⁴ هنگامی‌که به اورشلیم رسیدند، كلیسا و رسولان و رهبران با آغوش باز از ایشان استقبال كردند و آنان كارهایی را كه خدا به اتّفاق ایشان انجام داده بود، بیان كردند.

⁵But some of the sect of the Pharisees who believed rose up, saying, “It is necessary to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.”

⁵ در این موقع بعضی از فریسیان كه ایمان آورده بودند، برخاستند و اظهار داشتند: «لازم است ایشان ختنه شوند و به آنان دستور داده شود، كه شریعت موسی را رعایت نمایند.»

⁶The apostles and the elders were gathered together to see about this matter.

⁶ رسولان و رهبران برای رسیدگی به این مسئله انجمنی تشكیل دادند.

⁷When there had been much discussion, Peter rose up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that a good while ago God made a choice among you, that by my mouth the nations should hear the word of the Good News, and believe.

⁷ پس از بحث بسیار پطرس برخاست و خطاب به ایشان گفت: «ای دوستان، شما می‌دانید كه مدّتها پیش خدا مرا از میان شما برگزید تا غیر یهودیان مژدهٔ نجات را از زبان من بشنوند و ایمان آورند.

⁸God, who knows the heart, testified about them, giving them the Holy Spirit, just like he did to us.

⁸ خدا كه از قلبها آگاه است، این كار را با عطای روح‌القدس به آنان به همان طریقی كه به خود ما عطا فرمود، تأیید كرد

⁹He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.

⁹ و هیچ تبعیضی بین ما و آنان قایل نشد، بلكه قلب آنان را با ایمان پاک ساخت.

¹⁰Now therefore why do you tempt God, that you should put a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

¹⁰ پس حالا چرا می‌خواهید خدا را بیازمایید و باری بر دوش این شاگردان بگذارید، باری كه نه نیاکان ما قدرت تحمّل آن را داشتند و نه ما؟

¹¹But we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, TR adds “Christ” just as they are.”

¹¹ بلکه برعکس، ما از راه فیض عیسی خداوند، ایمان می‌آوریم و نجات می‌یابیم و آنها هم همین‌طور.»

¹²All the multitude kept silence, and they listened to Barnabas and Paul reporting what signs and wonders God had done among the nations through them.

¹² به دنبال سخنان پطرس همه ساكت ماندند و به گزارش برنابا و پولس در مورد عجایب و نشانه‌هایی كه خدا به وسیلهٔ ایشان در میان غیر یهودیان انجام داده بود، گوش می‌دادند.

¹³After they were silent, James answered, “Brothers, listen to me.

¹³ همین‌که سخنان آنان تمام شد، یعقوب گفت: «ای دوستان من، توجّه فرمایید،

¹⁴Simeon has reported how God first visited the nations, to take out of them a people for his name.

¹⁴ شمعون برای ما شرح داد، كه چگونه خدا در ابتدا قومی را از میان اقوام جهان برگزید تا فقط به او متعلّق باشند و به این وسیله علاقهٔ خود را به تمام ملل نشان داد.

¹⁵This agrees with the words of the prophets. As it is written,

¹⁵ این موافق سخن انبیاست، چنانکه كلام خدا می‌فرماید:

¹⁶‘After these things I will return. I will again build the tabernacle of David, which has fallen. I will again build its ruins. I will set it up,

¹⁶ 'بعد از این باز می‌گردم و مسكن ویران داوود را از نو بنا می‌كنم و خرابی‌های آن را بار دیگر آباد می‌گردانم و آن را برپا خواهم كرد

¹⁷That the rest of men may seek after the Lord; All the Gentiles who are called by my name, Says the Lord, who does all these things. Amos 9:11-12

¹⁷ تا بقیّهٔ بنی نوع بشر طالب خداوند گردند، یعنی جمیع مللی كه نام خود را بر آنها نهاده‌ام،

¹⁸ این است آنچه خداوند می‌گوید، خداوندی كه این چیزها را از زمانهای قدیم آشكار كرده است.'

¹⁹“Therefore my judgment is that we don’t trouble those from among the Gentiles who turn to God,

¹⁹ «بنابراین رأی من این است كه غیر یهودیانی را كه به سوی خدا آمده‌اند، دچار زحمت نسازیم.

²⁰but that we write to them that they abstain from the pollution of idols, from sexual immorality, from what is strangled, and from blood.

²⁰ جز اینكه كتباً به ایشان دستور دهیم كه از خوردن گوشتی كه در اثر تقدیم شدن به بُتها ناپاک و نجس شده است و از زنا و خوردن حیوانات خفه شده و همچنین خوردن خون بپرهیزند.

²¹For Moses from generations of old has in every city those who preach him, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath.”

²¹ چون شریعت موسی از زمانهای قدیم در هر روز سبت در کنیسه‌ها خوانده و تعالیم او در تمام شهرها موعظه می‌شود.»

²²Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole assembly, to choose men out of their company, and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas: Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, chief men among the brothers. The word for “brothers” here and where the context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.”

²² پس رسولان و رهبران با اعضای كلیسا توافق كردند كه افرادی از میان خود انتخاب كنند و به اتّفاق پولس و برنابا به انطاكیه بفرستند. ایشان یهودای ملقّب به برسابا و سیلاس را كه از افراد برجسته در میان ایمانداران بودند انتخاب كردند

²³They wrote these things by their hand: “The apostles, the elders, and the brothers, to the brothers who are of the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia: greetings.

²³ و نامهٔ خود را به این شرح به وسیلهٔ ایشان ارسال داشتند: «برادران شما، یعنی رسولان و رهبران، به ایماندارن غیر یهودی مقیم انطاكیه و سوریه و قیلیقیه سلام می‌رسانند.

²⁴Because we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, ‘You must be circumcised and keep the law,’ to whom we gave no commandment;

²⁴ به ما خبر رسیده است، كه بعضی از افراد ما بدون اینكه دستوری داشته باشند، با سخنان خود شما را دچار تشویش كرده و افكارتان را پریشان ساخته‌اند.

²⁵it seemed good to us, having come to one accord, to choose out men and send them to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

²⁵ بنابراین همهٔ ما به اتّفاق آراء تصمیم گرفتیم چند نفر را انتخاب نماییم و به اتّفاق عزیزان خود برنابا و پولس

²⁶men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁶ كه جان خود را به‌خاطر خدمت خداوند ما عیسی مسیح به خطر انداخته‌اند، پیش شما بفرستیم.

²⁷We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who themselves will also tell you the same things by word of mouth.

²⁷ بنابراین یهودا و سیلاس را فرستادیم تا شفاهاً همان چیزها را برایتان بیان كند.

²⁸For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay no greater burden on you than these necessary things:

²⁸ رأی روح‌القدس و ما این است، كه جز دستوراتی كه در زیر می‌آید بار شما را سنگین‌تر نسازیم

²⁹that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality, from which if you keep yourselves, it will be well with you. Farewell.”

²⁹ و آن این است كه از هرچه برای بُتها قربانی شده و از خون و حیوانات خفه شده و زنا دوری جویید. چنانچه از این چیزها پرهیز كنید كار نیكویی انجام داده‌اید، والسلام.»

³⁰So, when they were sent off, they came to Antioch. Having gathered the multitude together, they delivered the letter.

³⁰ وقتی آنها را از آنجا روانه کردند، به انطاكیه رفتند و همین‌که جماعت ایمانداران را جمع كردند آن نامه را به آنها دادند.

³¹When they had read it, they rejoiced over the encouragement.

³¹ وقتی نامه خوانده شد، جمعیّت از آن پیغام دلگرم كننده شادمان شدند

³²Judas and Silas, also being prophets themselves, encouraged the brothers with many words, and strengthened them.

³² و یهودا و سیلاس كه نبی بودند با سخنان بسیار آن جماعت را تشویق و تقویت كردند.

³³After they had spent some time there, they were sent back with greetings from the brothers to the apostles.

³³ پس از آنكه مدّتی در آنجا ماندند، توسط ایمانداران به سلامتی به سوی فرستندگان خود برگشتند.

³⁴ Some manuscripts add: But it seemed good to Silas to stay there.

³⁴ امّا پولس و برنابا در انطاكیه ماندند

³⁵But Paul and Barnabas stayed in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

³⁵ و به اتّفاق عدّهٔ كثیری به تعلیم و بیان پیام خدا مشغول بودند.

³⁶After some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Let’s return now and visit our brothers in every city in which we proclaimed the word of the Lord, to see how they are doing.”

³⁶ بعد از چند روز پولس به برنابا گفت: «به شهرهایی كه پیام خداوند را اعلام کرده‌ایم برویم و از ایماندارانی كه تازه ایمان آورده‌اند دیدن نماییم تا از حالشان باخبر شویم.»

³⁷Barnabas planned to take John, who was called Mark, with them also.

³⁷ برنابا می‌‌خواست، یوحنای ملقّب به مرقس را همراه خود ببرند.

³⁸But Paul didn’t think that it was a good idea to take with them someone who had withdrawn from them in Pamphylia, and didn’t go with them to do the work.

³⁸ امّا پولس عقیده داشت كه نباید كسی را كه در پمفیلیه ایشان را ترک كرده و تا پایان كار همراه ایشان نمانده بود بار دیگر با خود ببرند.

³⁹Then the contention grew so sharp that they separated from each other. Barnabas took Mark with him, and sailed away to Cyprus,

³⁹ مشاجرهٔ آنان چنان سخت شد، كه از یكدیگر جدا شدند و در نتیجه برنابا، مرقس را برداشت و از راه دریا به قبرس رفت.

⁴⁰but Paul chose Silas, and went out, being commended by the brothers to the grace of God.

⁴⁰ و پولس، سیلاس را انتخاب كرد و پس از اینكه توسط ایماندران به فیض الهی سپرده شد، حركت كرد و از استانهای سوریه و قیلقیه گذشته و كلیساها را تقویت می‌کرد.

⁴¹He went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the assemblies.

⁴¹ و از استانهای سوریه و قیلقیه گذشته و كلیساها را تقویت می‌کرد.
