¹If there is a controversy between men, and they come to judgment, and the judges judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked;

¹ «هرگاه دو نفر با هم دعوایی داشته باشند و به دادگاه بروند، قاضی باید بی‌گناه را تبرئه نماید و مجرم را محکوم کند.

²and it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his wickedness, by number.

² اگر شخص مجرم مستحقّ شلاّق باشد، قاضی به او امر کند که بر روی زمین دراز بکشد و به تناسب جرمش او را شلاّق بزنند

³Forty stripes he may give him, he shall not exceed; lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then your brother should seem vile to you.

³ و نباید زیادتر از چهل شلاق بخورد زیرا بیشتر از آن، او را در نظر مردم خوار می‌سازد.

⁴You shall not muzzle the ox when he treads out the grain.

⁴ «هنگامی که گاو خرمن را می‌کوبد دهانش را نبند.

⁵If brothers dwell together, and one of them die, and have no son, the wife of the dead shall not be married outside to a stranger: her husband’s brother shall go in to her, and take her to him as wife, and perform the duty of a husband’s brother to her.

⁵ «هرگاه دو برادر با هم در یک‌‌جا زندگی کنند و یکی از آنها بدون داشتن پسری بمیرد، بیوهٔ او نباید به مرد بیگانه‌ای، خارج از خانواده‌اش داده شود، بلکه برادر شوهرش با او ازدواج کند تا حق برادر شوهری را بجا آورد

⁶It shall be, that the firstborn whom she bears shall succeed in the name of his brother who is dead, that his name not be blotted out of Israel.

⁶ و پسر اولی که پس از این ازدواج به دنیا بیاید، باید پسر برادر متوفی شمرده شود تا نام آن مرد از اسرائیل محو نگردد.

⁷If the man doesn’t want to take his brother’s wife, then his brother’s wife shall go up to the gate to the elders, and say, “My husband’s brother refuses to raise up to his brother a name in Israel; he will not perform the duty of a husband’s brother to me.”

⁷ امّا اگر برادر شوهرش میل نداشت که با او ازدواج کند، پس آن زن پیش رهبران شهر برود و بگوید: 'برادر شوهرم وظیفهٔ خود را در حق من انجام نمی‌دهد و نمی‌خواهد که نام برادرش در اسرائیل باقی بماند.'

⁸Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak to him: and if he stand, and say, “I don’t want to take her”;

⁸ آنگاه رهبران شهر آن مرد را احضار کرده و با او صحبت کنند. هرگاه او اصرار کند و بگوید: 'من علاقه ندارم که با او ازدواج کنم.'

⁹then his brother’s wife shall come to him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face; and she shall answer and say, “So shall it be done to the man who does not build up his brother’s house.”

⁹ پس آن زن برود و در حضور رهبران شهر یکی از کفشهای آن برادر را از پایش درآورد و به رویش تُف بیندازد و بگوید: 'کسی‌که چراغ خانهٔ برادر خود را روشن نگاه نمی‌دارد، سزایش این است.'

¹⁰His name shall be called in Israel, The house of him who has his shoe untied.

¹⁰ از آن به بعد، فامیل آن مرد در سراسر اسرائیل به «خاندان کفش کنده» معروف می‌شود.

¹¹When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draws near to deliver her husband out of the hand of him who strikes him, and puts forth her hand, and takes him by the secrets;

¹¹ «اگر مردی با مرد دیگری جنگ کند و زن یکی از آنها، برای کمک شوهر خود مداخله کرده، از عورت مرد دیگر بگیرد،

¹²then you shall cut off her hand, your eye shall have no pity.

¹² دست آن زن باید بدون رحم قطع شود.

¹³You shall not have in your bag diverse weights, a great and a small.

¹³ «در کیسه‌تان دو نوع وزن، یکی سبک و یکی سنگین نداشته باشید.

¹⁴You shall not have in your house diverse measures, a great and a small.

¹⁴ نباید در خانهٔ خود دو پیمانه، یکی کوچک و دیگری بزرگ داشته باشید.

¹⁵You shall have a perfect and just weight. You shall have a perfect and just measure, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you.

¹⁵ از وزنه‌ها و پیمانه‌های دقیق استفاده کنید تا در سرزمینی که خداوند خدایتان به شما می‌دهد عمر طولانی داشته باشید.

¹⁶For all who do such things, all who do unrighteously, are an abomination to Yahweh your God.

¹⁶ خداوند از کسانی‌که تقلّب می‌کنند، بیزار است.

¹⁷Remember what Amalek did to you by the way as you came forth out of Egypt;

¹⁷ «به یاد بیاورید که در راه خروج از مصر، مردم عمالیق با شما چه کردند!

¹⁸how he met you by the way, and struck the hindmost of you, all who were feeble behind you, when you were faint and weary; and he didn’t fear God.

¹⁸ آنها از خدا، ترسی نداشتند؛ بنابراین هنگامی‌که شما خسته و بی‌رمق بودید، از پشت سر به شما حمله کردند، و همهٔ کسانی را که در عقب سرگردان بودند، کشتند. بنابراین در سرزمینی که خداوند خدایتان بعنوان میراث به شما می‌بخشد تا آن را تصرف کنید، آنگاه که شما را از دست تمام دشمنانتان رهایی می‌بخشد، فراموش نکنید که شما باید نام عمالیق را از روی زمین محو و نابود کنید.

¹⁹Therefore it shall be, when Yahweh your God has given you rest from all your enemies all around, in the land which Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance to possess it, that you shall blot out the memory of Amalek from under the sky; you shall not forget.

¹⁹ بنابراین در سرزمینی که خداوند خدایتان بعنوان میراث به شما می‌بخشد تا آن را تصرف کنید، آنگاه که شما را از دست تمام دشمنانتان رهایی می‌بخشد، فراموش نکنید که شما باید نام عمالیق را از روی زمین محو و نابود کنید.
