¹Moses called to all Israel, and said to them, Hear, Israel, the statutes and the ordinances which I speak in your ears this day, that you may learn them, and observe to do them.

¹ موسی قوم اسرائیل را گرد هم آورد و به آنها گفت: «ای قوم اسرائیل به احکام و قوانینی که امروز به شما می‌دهم، گوش بدهید. آنها را بیاموزید و به دقّت از آنها پیروی کنید.

²Yahweh our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.

² خداوند خدای ما، در کوه سینا پیمانی با شما بست.

³Yahweh didn’t make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.

³ خداوند این پیمان را با پدران ما نبست، بلکه با همهٔ ما که امروز اینجا زنده هستیم.

⁴Yahweh spoke with you face to face on the mountain out of the midst of the fire,

⁴ خداوند در آن کوه از میان آتش، با شما روبه‌رو حرف زد.

⁵(I stood between Yahweh and you at that time, to show you the word of Yahweh: for you were afraid because of the fire, and didn’t go up onto the mountain;) saying,

⁵ در آن موقع من به عنوان واسطه بین خداوند و شما ایستاده بودم، زیرا شما از آن آتش می‌ترسیدید و به بالای کوه نرفتید. «خداوند فرمود:

⁶“I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

⁶ 'من خداوند خدای تو هستم که تو را از مصر و از بردگی آزاد کردم.

⁷“You shall have no other gods before me.

⁷ «'خدای دیگری را غیراز من پرستش نکن.

⁸“You shall not make an engraved image for yourself, any likeness of what is in heaven above, or what is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

⁸ «'هیچ مجسمه و یا تمثالی از آنچه بالا در آسمان و یا پایین در زمین است، برای خودت مساز.

⁹you shall not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them; for I, Yahweh, your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me;

⁹ در مقابل هیچ بتی سجده مکن و آن را پرستش منما، زیرا من که خداوند خدای تو هستم. هیچ رقیبی را تحمّل نمی‌کنم و انتقام گناه کسانی را که از من نفرت کنند تا نسل سوم و چهارم از فرزندانشان می‌گیرم

¹⁰and showing loving kindness to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

¹⁰ امّا من محبّت پایدار خود را تا هزاران نسل به کسانی‌که مرا دوست دارند، نشان خواهم داد.

¹¹“You shall not take the name of Yahweh your God in vain: for Yahweh will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.

¹¹ «'نام مرا برای مقاصد شریرانه بر زبان میاور، زیرا من خداوند خدای شما، هرکس که نام مرا بیهوده بر زبان بیاورد، مجازات خواهم کرد.

¹²“Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as Yahweh your God commanded you.

¹² «'روز سبت را برگزار کن و آن را مقدّس بشمار، چون خداوند خدایت، به تو امر فرموده است.

¹³You shall labor six days, and do all your work;

¹³ شش روز کارکن و تمام کارهایت را انجام بده.

¹⁴but the seventh day is a Sabbath to Yahweh your God, in which you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your livestock, nor your stranger who is within your gates; that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you.

¹⁴ ولی روز هفتم، روز استراحت و مخصوص خداوند است. در آن روز هیچ‌کس کار نکند. نه خودت، نه فرزندانت، نه غلامت، نه کنیزت، نه حیواناتت و نه غریبی که نزد توست.

¹⁵You shall remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt, and Yahweh your God brought you out of there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm: therefore Yahweh your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.

¹⁵ به یاد آور که در سرزمین مصر برده بودی و خداوند خدایت تو را با دستهای نیرومند خویش بیرون آورد، به این دلیل خداوند خدایت به تو امر کرد تا روز سبت را نگه داری.

¹⁶“Honor your father and your mother, as Yahweh your God commanded you; that your days may be long, and that it may go well with you, in the land which Yahweh your God gives you.

¹⁶ «'پدر و مادر خود را احترام کن، چنانکه خداوند خدایت امر می‌فرماید. اگر چنین کنی در سرزمینی که خداوند خدایت به تو می‌بخشد، عمر طولانی خواهی داشت.

¹⁷“You shall not murder.

¹⁷ «'قتل نکن.

¹⁸“Neither shall you commit adultery.

¹⁸ «'زنا نکن.

¹⁹“Neither shall you steal.

¹⁹ «'دزدی نکن.

²⁰“Neither shall you give false testimony against your neighbor.

²⁰ «'برضد همسایهٔ خود شهادت دروغ نده.

²¹“Neither shall you covet your neighbor’s wife; neither shall you desire your neighbor’s house, his field, or his male servant, or his female servant, his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.”

²¹ «'به زنش، غلامش، کنیزش، گاوش، الاغش و هرچیزی که مال همسایه‌ات باشد، طمع نداشته باش.'

²²These words Yahweh spoke to all your assembly on the mountain out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. He wrote them on two tables of stone, and gave them to me.

²² «خداوند این احکام را در کوه سینا با آواز بلند از میان آتش، ابر و تاریکی غلیظ اعلام فرمود و چیز دیگری به آنها نیفزود. او آنها را بر دو لوح سنگی نوشت و به من داد.

²³It happened, when you heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, that you came near to me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;

²³ «چون شما صدای او را از تاریکی شنیدید و کوه را که در آتش شعله‌ور بود دیدید، با سران طایفه‌های خود پیش من آمدید

²⁴and you said, “Behold, Yahweh our God has shown us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God does speak with man, and he lives.

²⁴ و گفتید: 'خداوند خدای ما، جلال و عظمت خود را به ما نشان داد و ما صدای او را از میان آتش شنیدیم. امروز فهمیدیم که ممکن است انسان زنده بماند، حتّی اگر خدا با او صحبت کند.

²⁵Now therefore why should we die? For this great fire will consume us: if we hear the voice of Yahweh our God any more, then we shall die.

²⁵ امّا اگر بار دیگر صدای خداوند را بشنویم حتماً می‌میریم. این آتش هولناک ما را می‌سوزاند،

²⁶For who is there of all flesh, that has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?

²⁶ زیرا تا به حال هیچ انسانی نتوانسته‌ است که صدای خدای زنده را چنین که ما شنیدیم، بشنود و زنده بماند.

²⁷Go near, and hear all that Yahweh our God shall say: and tell us all that Yahweh our God shall tell you; and we will hear it, and do it.”

²⁷ پس خودت برو و به همهٔ سخنان خداوند خدای ما گوش بده. بعد بیا و هر آنچه را که خداوند خدای ما فرمود به ما بگو. آنگاه ما به اوامر خداوند گوش می‌دهیم و از آنها اطاعت می‌کنیم.'

²⁸Yahweh heard the voice of your words, when you spoke to me; and Yahweh said to me, “I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken to you: they have well said all that they have spoken.

²⁸ «خداوند سخنان شما را هنگامی‌که با من سخن می‌گفتید، شنید و فرمود: 'من سخنانی را که این مردم به تو گفتند، شنیدم. هرآنچه گفتند نیکوست.

²⁹Oh that there were such a heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children forever!

²⁹ کاش همواره چنین می‌اندیشیدند و از من می‌ترسیدند و فرمانهای مرا بجا می‌آوردند تا همه‌چیز برای آنها و فرزندانشان تا ابد به نیکی بگذرد.

³⁰“Go tell them, Return to your tents.

³⁰ حال برو و به آنها بگو که به چادرهای خود بازگردند.

³¹But as for you, stand here by me, and I will tell you all the commandment, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which you shall teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.”

³¹ امّا تو همین جا در حضور من بمان و من تمام احکام، قوانین و دستورات خود را به تو می‌دهم تا تو به آنها تعلیم بدهی و آنها همه را در آن سرزمینی که به آنها می‌بخشم، بجا آورند.'

³²You shall observe to do therefore as Yahweh your God has commanded you: you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

³² «پس شما به دقّت از اوامر خداوند اطاعت کنید و از آنها سرپیچی ننمایید. طریق خداوند خدایتان را دنبال کنید تا در آن سرزمینی که به شما می‌دهم، زندگی طولانی و آسود‌ه‌ای داشته باشید.

³³You shall walk in all the way which Yahweh your God has commanded you, that you may live, and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.

³³ طریق خداوند خدایتان را دنبال کنید تا در آن سرزمینی که به شما می‌دهم، زندگی طولانی و آسود‌ه‌ای داشته باشید.
