¹Now this is the commandment, the statutes, and the ordinances, which Yahweh your God commanded to teach you, that you might do them in the land where you go over to possess it;

¹ «این است فرمانها، قوانین و احکامی که خداوند خدای شما، به من امر کرد که به شما بیاموزم تا در سرزمینی که به سویش می‌روید و تصرّفش می‌کنید، بجا آورید.

²that you might fear Yahweh your God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, you, and your son, and your son’s son, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged.

² به این ترتیب شما، فرزندان و نوادگانتان از خداوند خدای خود بترسید و از قوانین او که من به شما می‌دهم، همیشه پیروی کنید تا عمر طولانی داشته باشید.

³Hear therefore, Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with you, and that you may increase mightily, as Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has promised to you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.

³ پس ای اسرائیل بشنو و در انجام آنها دقّت کن! تا برای تو نیکو باشد تا در سرزمینی که غنی و حاصلخیز است، بسیار افزوده شوی همان‌طور که خداوند خدای نیاکانتان به شما قول داده است.

⁴Hear, Israel: Yahweh is our God; Yahweh is one:

⁴ «ای اسرائیل بشنو: خدای ما خداوند یکتاست.

⁵and you shall love Yahweh your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.

⁵ شما باید خداوند خدای خود را با تمام دل و تمام جان و تمام توان دوست بدارید.

⁶These words, which I command you this day, shall be on your heart;

⁶ دستوراتی را که امروز به شما می‌دهم در قلب خود نگه دارید.

⁷and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.

⁷ آنها را با دقّت به فرزندانتان بیاموزید و زمانی که در خانه و یا در راه هستید، هنگام استراحت و هنگامی‌که بیدار می‌شوید، دربارهٔ آنها سخن بگویید.

⁸You shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for symbols between your eyes.

⁸ آنها را بر دست و پیشانی خود ببندید

⁹You shall write them on the door posts of your house, and on your gates.

⁹ و بر سر در و دروازهٔ خانه‌های خود بنویسید.

¹⁰It shall be, when Yahweh your God shall bring you into the land which he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you, great and goodly cities, which you didn’t build,

¹⁰ «درست همانگونه که خداوند خدایتان به نیاکان شما، ابراهیم، اسحاق و یعقوب وعده داد؛ او سرزمینی با شهرهای بزرگ و غنی به شما خواهد بخشید که خودتان، آن را نساخته‌اید.

¹¹and houses full of all good things, which you didn’t fill, and cisterns dug out, which you didn’t dig, vineyards and olive trees, which you didn’t plant, and you shall eat and be full;

¹¹ خانه‌های آن مملو از چیزهای نیکو خواهد بود که شما ‌آنها را تهیه نکرده‌اید، چاههایی در آن خواهد بود که شما حفر نکرده‌اید، تاکستانها و باغهای زیتونی که شما آنها را نکاشته‌اید. هنگامی که خداوند شما را به این سرزمین بیاورد، تمام خوراک شما را فراهم خواهد کرد.

¹²then beware lest you forget Yahweh, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

¹² احتیاط کنید، مبادا خدایی را که شما را از بردگی در مصر نجات داد، فراموش کنید.

¹³You shall fear Yahweh your God; and you shall serve him, and shall swear by his name.

¹³ از خداوند خدای خود بترسید و فقط او را خدمت نمایید و به نام او سوگند یاد کنید.

¹⁴You shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples who are around you;

¹⁴ به دنبال خدایان دیگر، خدایان مردمی که در اطراف شما هستند، نروید؛

¹⁵for Yahweh your God in the midst of you is a jealous God; lest the anger of Yahweh your God be kindled against you, and he destroy you from off the face of the earth.

¹⁵ زیرا خداوند خدایتان که در بین شما حضور دارد، خدایی غیور است، مبادا آتش خشم او در برابر شما افروخته شود و شما را از روی زمین محو کند.

¹⁶You shall not tempt Yahweh your God, as you tempted him in Massah.

¹⁶ «خداوند خدایتان را امتحان نکنید، چنانکه در مسا او را آزمودید.

¹⁷You shall diligently keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he has commanded you.

¹⁷ شما باید به دقّت از هر امر خداوند خدایتان پیروی کنید و احکام و دستورات او را که به شما داده است، بجا آورید.

¹⁸You shall do that which is right and good in the sight of Yahweh; that it may be well with you, and that you may go in and possess the good land which Yahweh swore to your fathers,

¹⁸ آنچه را که نیک و در نظر خداوند پسندیده است انجام دهید تا زندگی خوب و آسوده داشته باشید و به سرزمین خوبی که خداوند به اجدادتان وعده داده است، بروید و آن را تصرّف کنید

¹⁹to thrust out all your enemies from before you, as Yahweh has spoken.

¹⁹ و دشمنان خود را طبق وعدهٔ خداوند بیرون خواهید راند.

²⁰When your son asks you in time to come, saying, “What do the testimonies, the statutes, and the ordinances, which Yahweh our God has commanded you mean?”

²⁰ «در آینده وقتی فرزندانتان از شما بپرسند: 'معنی قوانین، احکام و دستورات خداوند خدای ما که به شما داده است چیست؟'

²¹then you shall tell your son, “We were Pharaoh’s bondservants in Egypt: and Yahweh brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand;

²¹ به آنها بگویید: 'ما در مصر بردهٔ فرعون بودیم، امّا خداوند با دست توانای خود ما را از سرزمین مصر بیرون آورد.

²²and Yahweh showed great and awesome signs and wonders on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his house, before our eyes;

²² ما با چشمان خود دیدیم که خداوند نشانه‌ها، شگفتی‌ها و بلاهای وحشتناک بر مصر و فرعون و تمام افرادش نازل کرد.

²³and he brought us out from there, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he swore to our fathers.

²³ ما را از آنجا بیرون آورد تا وارد سرزمینی کند که به نیاکان ما وعده داده بود.

²⁴Yahweh commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear Yahweh our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as at this day.

²⁴ سپس خداوند به ما امر فرمود که احکام او را بجا آوریم و از خداوند خدای خود بترسیم تا چنانکه که امروز می‌بینید، زندگی طولانی و کامیابی داشته باشیم. اگر ما تمام احکامی را که خداوند خدای ما به ما امر فرموده است به دقّت و با اطاعت کامل بجا آوریم، او از ما راضی می‌شود.'

²⁵It shall be righteousness to us, if we observe to do all this commandment before Yahweh our God, as he has commanded us.”

²⁵ اگر ما تمام احکامی را که خداوند خدای ما به ما امر فرموده است به دقّت و با اطاعت کامل بجا آوریم، او از ما راضی می‌شود.'
