¹Yahweh said to Moses, “Yet one plague more will I bring on Pharaoh, and on Egypt; afterwards he will let you go. When he lets you go, he will surely thrust you out altogether.

¹ بعد از آن خداوند به موسی فرمود: «فقط یک بلای دیگر بر سر فرعون و مردم او خواهم آورد. بعد از آن او شما را آزاد خواهد کرد. در حقیقت او همهٔ شما را از اینجا بیرون خواهد کرد.

²Speak now in the ears of the people, and let them ask every man of his neighbor, and every woman of her neighbor, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold.”

² حالا به تمام بنی‌اسرائیل بگو که هرکس چه زن و چه مرد از همسایهٔ مصری خود زینت‌آلات طلا و نقره بخواهد.»

³Yahweh gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants, and in the sight of the people.

³ خداوند بنی‌اسرائیل را در نظر مصریان عزیز گردانید و موسی در نظر بزرگان و مردم مصر مَرد بزرگ و برجسته‌ای بود.

⁴Moses said, “This is what Yahweh says: ‘About midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt,

⁴ موسی به فرعون گفت: «خداوند می‌فرماید: 'در نیمه‌های شب به مصر خواهم آمد

⁵and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the female servant who is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of livestock.

⁵ و هر نخستزادهٔ مصری که پسر باشد خواهد مرد. چه نخستزادهٔ فرعون که جانشین اوست و چه نخستزادهٔ کنیزی که پشت دستاس نشسته است و چه نخستزادهٔ حیوانات، همه خواهند مرد.

⁶There shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there has not been, nor shall be any more.

⁶ چنان سر و صدای گریه و شیونی در تمام مصر به راه خواهد افتاد که هرگز شنیده نشده و شنیده نخواهد شد.

⁷But against any of the children of Israel a dog won’t even bark or move its tongue, against man or animal; that you may know that Yahweh makes a distinction between the Egyptians and Israel.

⁷ امّا در میان بنی‌اسرائیل حتّی سگی هم به طرف آنان و یا حیوانات آنها پارس نخواهد کرد. آنگاه خواهید دانست که خداوند بین مصریان و بنی‌اسرائیل فرق می‌گذارد.'»

⁸All these your servants shall come down to me, and bow down themselves to me, saying, “Get out, with all the people who follow you”; and after that I will go out.’” He went out from Pharaoh in hot anger.

⁸ موسی بدین‌گونه سخنان خود را به پایان برد: «آنگاه همهٔ ‌درباریانت، پیش من خواهند آمد و در مقابل من تعظیم خواهند کرد و التماس خواهند نمود تا من و تمام قوم من از اینجا بیرون برویم و بعد از آن من خواهم رفت.» سپس موسی درحالی‌که بشدّت خشمگین بود، از نزد فرعون بیرون رفت.

⁹Yahweh said to Moses, “Pharaoh won’t listen to you, that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.”

⁹ خداوند به موسی فرمود: «فرعون به سخنان شما گوش نخواهند داد تا من کارهای عجیب بیشتری در سرزمین مصر به عمل بیاورم.» موسی و هارون تمام این کارهای عجیب را در مقابل فرعون انجام دادند، امّا خداوند دل فرعون را سخت کرد و او بنی‌اسرائیل را آزاد نکرد.

¹⁰Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh, and Yahweh hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he didn’t let the children of Israel go out of his land.

¹⁰ موسی و هارون تمام این کارهای عجیب را در مقابل فرعون انجام دادند، امّا خداوند دل فرعون را سخت کرد و او بنی‌اسرائیل را آزاد نکرد.
