1Abraham was old, and well stricken in age. Yahweh had blessed Abraham in all things.

ابراهیم بسیار پیر شده بود و خداوند به هرچه او میكرد، بركت داده بود.
2Abraham said to his servant, the elder of his house, who ruled over all that he had, “Please put your hand under my thigh.
2
او روزی به یكی از نوكرانش كه از همه بزرگتر بود و اختیار همه چیز در دستش بود گفت: «دست خود را وسط ران من بگذار و قسم بخور.
3I will make you swear by Yahweh, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you shall not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I live.
3
من میخواهم كه تو به نام خداوند، خدای آسمان و زمین قسم بخوری كه برای پسر من از مردم این سرزمین یعنی كنعان زن نگیری.
4But you shall go to my country, and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son Isaac.”
4
تو باید به سرزمینی که من در آنجا به دنیا آمدهام بروی و از آنجا برای پسرم زن بگیری.»
5The servant said to him, “What if the woman isn’t willing to follow me to this land? Must I bring your son again to the land you came from?”

آن نوكر پرسید: «اگر آن دختر حاضر نشود وطن خود را ترک كند و با من به این سرزمین بیاید چهكنم؟ آیا پسرت را به سرزمینی كه تو از آنجا آمدی بفرستم؟»
6Abraham said to him, “Beware that you don’t bring my son there again.

ابراهیم جواب داد: «تو نباید پسر مرا هیچوقت به آنجا بفرستی.
7Yahweh, the God of heaven, who took me from my father’s house, and from the land of my birth, who spoke to me, and who swore to me, saying, ‘I will give this land to your seed or, offspring .’ He will send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there.

خداوند، خدای آسمان مرا از خانهٔ پدرم و از سرزمین اقوامم بیرون آورد. به طور جدّی به من قول داد كه این سرزمین را به نسل من خواهد داد. او فرشتهٔ خود را قبل از تو خواهد فرستاد. بنابراین تو میتوانی در آنجا زنی برای پسرم بگیری.
8If the woman isn’t willing to follow you, then you shall be clear from this my oath. Only you shall not bring my son there again.”
8
اگر دختر حاضر نشد با تو بیاید، آن وقت تو از قولی كه دادهای آزاد هستی. ولی تو در هیچ شرایطی نباید پسر مرا به آنجا ببری.»
9The servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and swore to him concerning this matter.
9
پس آن نوكر دست خود را میان ران اربابش ابراهیم گذاشت و برای او قسم خورد كه هرچه ابراهیم از او خواسته است، انجام دهد.
10The servant took ten camels, of his master’s camels, and departed, having a variety of good things of his master’s with him. He arose, and went to Mesopotamia, to the city of Nahor.

آن نوكر، كه اختیار دارایی ابراهیم در دستش بود، ده تا از شترهای اربابش را برداشت و به شمال بینالنهرین به شهری كه ناحور در آن زندگی میكرد، رفت.
11He made the camels kneel down outside the city by the well of water at the time of evening, the time that women go out to draw water.
11
وقتی به آنجا رسید، شترها را در كنار چشمهای كه بیرون شهر بود، خوابانید. نزدیک غروب بود، وقتی كه زنان برای بردن آب به آنجا میآمدند.
12He said, “Yahweh, the God of my master Abraham, please give me success this day, and show kindness to my master Abraham.

او دعا كرد و گفت: «ای خداوند، خدای آقایم ابراهیم، امروز به من توفیق بده و پیمان خودت را با آقایم ابراهیم حفظ كن.
13Behold, I am standing by the spring of water. The daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water.
13
من اینجا در كنار چشمهای هستم كه زنان جوان شهر برای بردن آب میآیند.
14Let it happen, that the young lady to whom I will say, ‘Please let down your pitcher, that I may drink,’ and she will say, ‘Drink, and I will also give your camels a drink,’—let her be the one you have appointed for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master.”

به یكی از آنها خواهم گفت: 'كوزهٔ خود را پایین بیاور تا از آن آب بنوشم.' اگر او بگوید: 'بنوش، من برای شترهایت هم آب میآورم'، او همان كسی باشد كه تو برای بندهات اسحاق انتخاب كردهای. اگر چنین بشود، من خواهم دانست كه تو پیمان خود را با آقایم حفظ كردهای.»
15It happened, before he had finished speaking, that behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel the son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, with her pitcher on her shoulder.

قبل از اینکه او دعایش را تمام كند، ربكا با یک كوزهٔ آب كه بر دوشش بود رسید. او دختر بتوئیل پسر ناحور برادر ابراهیم بود و اسم زن ناحور ملكه بود.
16The young lady was very beautiful to look at, a virgin, neither had any man known her. She went down to the spring, filled her pitcher, and came up.

ربكا دختری بسیار زیبا و باكره بود. او از چشمه پایین رفت و كوزهاش را پُر كرد و برگشت.
17The servant ran to meet her, and said, “Please give me a drink, a little water from your pitcher.”
17
مباشر ابراهیم به استقبال او دوید و گفت: «لطفاً كمی آب از كوزهات به من بده تا بنوشم.»
18She said, “Drink, my lord.” She hurried, and let down her pitcher on her hand, and gave him drink.
18
او گفت: «بنوش، ای آقا» و فوراً كوزه را از شانهاش پایین آورد و نگه داشت تا او از آن بنوشد.
19When she had done giving him drink, she said, “I will also draw for your camels, until they have done drinking.”
19
وقتی آب نوشید، آن زن به او گفت: «برای شترهایت هم آب میآورم تا سیراب شوند.»
20She hurried, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again to the well to draw, and drew for all his camels.
20
او فوراً كوزهاش را در آبخور حیوانات خالی كرد و به طرف چشمه دوید تا برای همهٔ شتران آب بیاورد.
21The man looked steadfastly at her, remaining silent, to know whether Yahweh had made his journey prosperous or not.
21
آن مرد در سكوت مراقب دختر بود تا ببیند آیا خداوند سفرش را موفّق خواهد كرد یا نه.
22It happened, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden ring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold,
22
وقتی آن دختر كارش تمام شد، آن مرد یک حلقهٔ طلایی گرانقیمت در بینی و همچنین دو عدد دستبند طلا به دستهای دختر كرد
23and said, “Whose daughter are you? Please tell me. Is there room in your father’s house for us to lodge in?”
23
و به او گفت: «لطفاً به من بگو پدر تو كیست؟ آیا در خانهٔ او برای من و مردان من جایی است تا شب را در آنجا بمانیم؟»
24She said to him, “I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, whom she bore to Nahor.”
24
دختر گفت: «پدر من بتوئیل پسر ناحور و مِلكَه است.
25She said moreover to him, “We have both straw and provender enough, and room to lodge in.”
25
در خانهٔ ما، كاه و علوفهٔ فراوان، و جا برای استراحت شما هست.»
26The man bowed his head, and worshiped Yahweh.
26
پس آن مرد زانو زد و خداوند را پرستش نمود.
27He said, “Blessed be Yahweh, the God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken his loving kindness and his truth toward my master. As for me, Yahweh has led me in the way to the house of my master’s relatives.”
27
او گفت: «سپاس بر خداوند، خدای آقایم ابراهیم كه با وفاداری وعدهای را كه به او داده است، حفظ كرده است. خداوند مستقیماً مرا به خانهٔ اقوام آقایم راهنمایی كرده است.»
28The young lady ran, and told her mother’s house about these words.

دختر به طرف خانهٔ مادرش دوید و تمام ماجرا را تعریف كرد.
29Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban. Laban ran out to the man, to the spring.
29
ربكا برادری به نام لابان داشت. او به طرف بیرون دوید تا به چشمهای كه مباشر ابراهیم در آنجا بود، برود.
30It happened, when he saw the ring, and the bracelets on his sister’s hands, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister, saying, “This is what the man said to me,” that he came to the man. Behold, he was standing by the camels at the spring.

او حلقهٔ بینی و دستبندها را در دست خواهرش دیده بود و شنیده بود كه آن مرد به دختر چه گفته است. او پیش مباشر ابراهیم كه با شترهایش كنار چشمه ایستاده بود رفت و به او گفت:
31He said, “Come in, you blessed of Yahweh. Why do you stand outside? For I have prepared the house, and room for the camels.”
31
«با من به خانه بیا. تو مردی هستی كه خداوند تو را بركت داده است. چرا بیرون ایستادهای؟ من در خانهام برای تو جا آماده كردهام و برای شترهایت هم جا هست.»
32The man came into the house, and he unloaded the camels. He gave straw and provender for the camels, and water to wash his feet and the feet of the men who were with him.

پس آن مرد به خانه رفت و لابان شترهای او را باز كرد و به آنها كاه و علوفه داد. سپس آب آورد تا مباشر ابراهیم و خادمان او پاهای خود را بشویند.
33Food was set before him to eat, but he said, “I will not eat until I have told my message.” He said, “Speak on.”

وقتی غذا آوردند، آن مرد گفت: «من تا منظور خود را نگویم غذا نخواهم خورد.»
لابان گفت: «هرچه میخواهی بگو.»
34He said, “I am Abraham’s servant.
34
او گفت: «من مباشر ابراهیم هستم.
35Yahweh has blessed my master greatly. He has become great. He has given him flocks and herds, silver and gold, male servants and female servants, and camels and donkeys.
35
خداوند، بركت و ثروت فراوان به آقایم عطا كرده است. به او گلّههای گوسفند، بُز و گاو و همچنین نقره و طلا و غلامان و كنیزان و شتران و الاغهای زیاد داده است.
36Sarah, my master’s wife, bore a son to my master when she was old. He has given all that he has to him.

سارا، همسر آقایم در زمانی كه پیر بود برای او پسری به دنیا آورد و آقایم هرچه داشت به او داده است.
37My master made me swear, saying, ‘You shall not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I live,
37
آقایم از من قول گرفته و مرا قسم داده است كه از مردم كنعان برای پسرش زن نگیرم.
38but you shall go to my father’s house, and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son.’
38
بلكه گفت: 'برو و از قبیلهٔ پدرم، از میان اقوامم زنی برای او انتخاب كن.'
39I asked my master, ‘What if the woman will not follow me?’
39
من از آقایم پرسیدم: 'اگر دختر نخواست با من بیاید چهكنم؟'
40He said to me, ‘Yahweh, before whom I walk, will send his angel with you, and prosper your way. You shall take a wife for my son of my relatives, and of my father’s house.
40
او جواب داد: 'خداوندی كه همیشه او را اطاعت كردهام فرشتهٔ خود را با تو خواهد فرستاد و تو را موفّق خواهد نمود. تو از میان قبیلهٔ خودم و از میان فامیلهای پدرم، زنی برای پسرم خواهی گرفت.
41Then will you be clear from my oath, when you come to my relatives. If they don’t give her to you, you shall be clear from my oath.’
41
برای رهایی تو از این قسم فقط یک راه وجود دارد. اگر تو به نزد اقوام من رفتی و آنها تو را رد كردند، آن وقت تو از قولی كه دادهای آزاد خواهی بود.'
42I came this day to the spring, and said, ‘Yahweh, the God of my master Abraham, if now you do prosper my way which I go—

«امروز وقتی به سر چشمه رسیدم، دعا كردم و گفتم: 'ای خداوند، خدای آقایم ابراهیم، لطفاً در اینكار به من توفیق عنایت كن.
43behold, I am standing by this spring of water. Let it happen, that the maiden who comes out to draw, to whom I will say, “Please give me a little water from your pitcher to drink,”

من اینجا سر چشمه میمانم. وقتی دختری برای برداشتن آب میآید از او خواهم خواست كه از كوزهٔ خود به من آب بدهد تا بنوشم.
44and she will tell me, “Drink, and I will also draw for your camels,”—let her be the woman whom Yahweh has appointed for my master’s son.’

اگر او قبول كرد و برای شترهایم هم آورد، او همان كسی باشد كه تو انتخاب كردهای تا همسر پسر آقایم بشود.'
45Before I had finished speaking in my heart, behold, Rebekah came out with her pitcher on her shoulder. She went down to the spring, and drew. I said to her, ‘Please let me drink.’

قبل از اینکه دعای خود را تمام كنم، ربكا با كوزهٔ آبی كه بر دوش داشت آمد و به سر چشمه رفت تا آب بردارد. به او گفتم: 'لطفاً به من آب بده تا بنوشم.'
46She hurried and let down her pitcher from her shoulder, and said, ‘Drink, and I will also give your camels a drink.’ So I drank, and she also gave the camels a drink.

او فوراً كوزه را از شانهاش پایین آورد و گفت: 'بنوش، من شترهای تو را هم سیراب میكنم،' پس من نوشیدم و او شترهای مرا هم سیراب كرد.
47I asked her, and said, ‘Whose daughter are you?’ She said, ‘The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor’s son, whom Milcah bore to him.’ I put the ring on her nose, and the bracelets on her hands.

از او پرسیدم 'پدرت كیست؟' او جواب داد: 'پدر من بتوئیل پسر ناحور و مِلْكَه است.' سپس حلقه را در بینی او و دستبندها را در دستش كردم.
48I bowed my head, and worshiped Yahweh, and blessed Yahweh, the God of my master Abraham, who had led me in the right way to take my master’s brother’s daughter for his son.

زانو زدم و خداوند را پرستش نمودم. من خداوند، خدای آقایم ابراهیم را سپاس گفتم كه مستقیماً مرا به خانهٔ فامیل آقایم هدایت كرد. جاییكه دختری برای پسر آقایم پیدا كردم.
49Now if you will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me. If not, tell me, that I may turn to the right hand, or to the left.”

حالا اگر میخواهید به آقایم لطف بكنید، به من بگویید تا بدانم وگرنه تصمیم بگیرم كه چه باید بكنم.»
50Then Laban and Bethuel answered, “The thing proceeds from Yahweh. We can’t speak to you bad or good.
50
لابان و بتوئیل جواب دادند: «چون این امر از طرف خداوند است، ما حق نداریم تصمیم بگیریم.
51Behold, Rebekah is before you. Take her, and go, and let her be your master’s son’s wife, as Yahweh has spoken.”
51
این تو و این ربكا. او را بردار و برو. همانطور كه خداوند فرموده است، او همسر پسر آقای تو بشود.»
52It happened that when Abraham’s servant heard their words, he bowed himself down to the earth to Yahweh.
52
وقتی مباشر ابراهیم این را شنید، سجده كرد و خداوند را پرستش نمود.
53The servant brought out jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and clothing, and gave them to Rebekah. He also gave precious things to her brother and her mother.
53
بعد رختها و هدایای طلا و نقره را بیرون آورد و به ربكا داد. همچنین هدایای گرانقیمتی هم به برادر و مادرش داد.
54They ate and drank, he and the men who were with him, and stayed all night. They rose up in the morning, and he said, “Send me away to my master.”
54
سپس مباشر ابراهیم و خادمان او خوردند و نوشیدند و شب را در آنجا به سر بردند. صبح وقتی بلند شدند، او گفت: «اجازه بدهید پیش آقایم برگردم.»
55Her brother and her mother said, “Let the young lady stay with us a few days, at least ten. After that she will go.”

امّا برادر و مادر ربكا گفتند: «بگذار دختر مدّت یک هفته یا ده روز اینجا بماند و بعد بیاید.»
56He said to them, “Don’t hinder me, since Yahweh has prospered my way. Send me away that I may go to my master.”

آن مرد گفت: «ما را نگه ندارید. خداوند سفر مرا موفقیّتآمیز كرده است، پس اجازه بدهید پیش آقایم برگردم.»
57They said, “We will call the young lady, and ask her.”
57
آنها جواب دادند: «بگذار دختر را صدا كنیم و ببینیم نظر خودش چیست.»
58They called Rebekah, and said to her, “Will you go with this man?” She said, “I will go.”
58
پس ربكا را صدا كردند و از او پرسیدند: «آیا میخواهی با این مرد بروی؟» او جواب داد: «بلی»
59They sent away Rebekah, their sister, with her nurse, Abraham’s servant, and his men.
59
پس آنها ربكا و دایهاش را، با مباشر ابراهیم و خادمان او فرستادند.
60They blessed Rebekah, and said to her, “Our sister, may you be the mother of thousands of ten thousands, and let your seed possess the gate of those who hate them.”
60
آنها برای ربكا دعای خیر كردند و گفتند: «تو، ای خواهر ما، مادر هزاران هزار نفر باش و نسلهای تو شهرهای دشمنان خود را به تصرّف درآورند.»
61Rebekah arose with her ladies. They rode on the camels, and followed the man. The servant took Rebekah, and went his way.

سپس ربكا و ندیمههای او حاضر شدند و سوار شترها شده، و به اتّفاق مباشر ابراهیم حركت كردند.
62Isaac came from the way of Beer Lahai Roi, for he lived in the land of the South.
62
اسحاق در قسمت جنوبی كنعان زندگی میكرد. او یک روز هنگام غروب بیرون رفت تا در بیابان قدم بزند. از بیابانهای اطراف چاه «خدای زنده و بینا» میگذشت كه آمدن شترها را دید.
63Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the evening. He lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, there were camels coming.

وقتی ربكا، اسحاق را دید، از شتر خود پایین آمد
64Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she dismounted from the camel.
64
و از مباشر ابراهیم پرسید: «آن مرد كیست كه از مزرعه به طرف ما میآید؟»
مباشر جواب داد: «او آقای من است.» پس ربكا صورت خود را با روبند پوشانید.
65She said to the servant, “Who is the man who is walking in the field to meet us?” The servant said, “It is my master.” She took her veil, and covered herself.

مباشر هرچه كه انجام داده بود برای اسحاق تعریف كرد.
اسحاق ربكا را به چادری كه مادرش سارا در آن زندگی میكرد برد و با او ازدواج كرد. اسحاق به ربكا علاقهمند شد و بعد از مرگ مادرش تسلّی یافت.
66The servant told Isaac all the things that he had done.

اسحاق ربكا را به چادری كه مادرش سارا در آن زندگی میكرد برد و با او ازدواج كرد. اسحاق به ربكا علاقهمند شد و بعد از مرگ مادرش تسلّی یافت.
67Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife. He loved her. Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.
