1The famine was severe in the land.

قحطی در كنعان شدید شد.
2It happened, when they had eaten up the grain which they had brought out of Egypt, their father said to them, “Go again, buy us a little more food.”

وقتی خانوادهٔ یعقوب تمام غلّهای را كه از مصر آورده بودند خوردند، یعقوب به پسرانش گفت: «به مصر بازگردید و مقداری خوراک برای ما بخرید.»
3Judah spoke to him, saying, “The man solemnly warned us, saying, ‘You shall not see my face, unless your brother is with you.’

یهودا به او گفت: «آن مرد به سختی به ما هشدار داد كه تا برادر كوچک خود را با خود نبریم، اجازه نداریم پیش او بازگردیم.
4If you’ll send our brother with us, we’ll go down and buy you food,
4
اگر تو حاضری برادر ما را با ما بفرستی، ما میرویم و برای تو آذوقه میخریم.
5but if you’ll not send him, we’ll not go down, for the man said to us, ‘You shall not see my face, unless your brother is with you.’”
5
امّا اگر تو حاضر نیستی، ما هم نمیرویم. زیرا آن مرد به ما گفت كه تا برادر خود را همراه نبریم اجازه نداریم پیش او بازگردیم.»
6Israel said, “Why did you treat me so badly, telling the man that you had another brother?”

یعقوب گفت: «چرا شما به آن مرد گفتید كه ما برادر دیگری هم داریم و مرا به عذاب انداختید؟»
7They said, “The man asked directly concerning ourselves, and concerning our relatives, saying, ‘Is your father still alive? Have you another brother?’ We just answered his questions. Is there any way we could know that he would say, ‘Bring your brother down?’”

آنها جواب دادند: «آن مرد با دقّت دربارهٔ ما و از وضع خانوادهٔ ما سؤال میكرد. میپرسید: 'آیا پدر شما هنوز زنده است؟ آیا برادر دیگری هم دارید؟' ما هم به او جواب صحیح دادیم. از كجا میدانستیم او میگوید كه برادر خود را به آنجا ببریم؟»
8Judah said to Israel, his father, “Send the boy with me, and we’ll get up and go, so that we may live, and not die, both we, and you, and also our little ones.

یهودا به پدرش گفت: «پسر را با من بفرست تا بلند شویم و برویم و همهٔ ما زنده بمانیم. نه ما بمیریم، نه تو و نه بچّههای ما.
9I’ll be collateral for him. From my hand will you require him. If I don’t bring him to you, and set him before you, then let me bear the blame forever,

من زندگی خودم را نزد تو گرو میگذارم و تو او را به دست من بسپار. اگر او را صحیح و سالم پیش تو برنگرداندم، برای همیشه گناه اینكار به گردن من باشد.
10for if we hadn’t delayed, surely we would have returned a second time by now.”
10
اگر ما اینقدر صبر نمیكردیم تا به حال دو مرتبه رفته و برگشته بودیم.»
11Their father, Israel, said to them, “If it must be so, then do this. Take from the choice fruits of the land in your bags, and carry down a present for the man, a little balm, a little honey, spices and myrrh, nuts, and almonds;

پدرشان یعقوب به آنها گفت: «حالا كه اینطور است، از بهترین محصولات زمین با خود بردارید و به عنوان هدیه برای نخستوزیر ببرید. كمی بلسان، عسل، كتیرا، ادویه، پسته و بادام
12and take double money in your hand, and take back the money that was returned in the mouth of your sacks. Perhaps it was an oversight.

پول هم، دو برابر با خود بردارید. چون شما باید پولی را كه در كیسههایتان به شما بازگردانیده شده است، با خود بردارید. ممكن است در آن مورد اشتباهی شده باشد.
13Take your brother also, get up, and return to the man.
13
برادر خود را هم بردارید و به نزد آن مرد بازگردید.
14May God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may release to you your other brother and Benjamin. If I am bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.”

امیدوارم، خدای قادر مطلق دل آن مرد را نرم كند تا نسبت به شما مهربان گردد و بنیامین و برادر دیگرتان را به شما پس بدهد. اگر قسمت من این است كه فرزندانم را از دست بدهم، باید قبول كنم.»
15The men took that present, and they took double money in their hand, and Benjamin; and got up, went down to Egypt, and stood before Joseph.

پس، برادران هدایا و دو برابر پول، با خود برداشتند و با بنیامین به سوی مصر حركت كردند. در مصر به حضور یوسف رفتند.
16When Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the steward of his house, “Bring the men into the house, and butcher an animal, and prepare; for the men will dine with me at noon.”

یوسف وقتی بنیامین را با آنها دید، به خدمتگزار مخصوص خانهاش دستور داده گفت: «این مردان را به خانه ببر. آنها ناهار را با من خواهند خورد. یک حیوان سر بِبُر و آماده كن.»
17The man did as Joseph commanded, and the man brought the men to Joseph’s house.

خادم هرچه یوسف دستور داده بود انجام داد و برادران را به خانهٔ یوسف برد.
18The men were afraid, because they were brought to Joseph’s house; and they said, “Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first time, we’re brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, attack us, and seize us as slaves, along with our donkeys.”

وقتی كه آنها را به خانهٔ یوسف میبردند، آنها ترسیدند و فكر میكردند كه بهخاطر پولی كه دفعهٔ اول در كیسههای آنها جا مانده بود آنها را به آنجا میبرند تا به طور ناگهانی به آنها حمله كنند، الاغهایشان را بگیرند و به صورت غلام به خدمت خود در آورند.
19They came near to the steward of Joseph’s house, and they spoke to him at the door of the house,

پس وقتی نزدیک خانه رسیدند، به طرف خادم رفتند و به او گفتند:
20and said, “Oh, my lord, we indeed came down the first time to buy food.
20
«ای آقا، ما قبلاً یک مرتبه برای خرید غلّه به اینجا آمدیم.
21When we came to the lodging place, we opened our sacks, and behold, each man’s money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight. We have brought it back in our hand.
21
سر راه در محلی كه استراحت میكردیم، كیسههای خود را باز كردیم و هریک پولمان را تماماً در دهانهٔ كیسهٔ خود پیدا كردیم. ما آن را برای شما پس آوردهایم.
22We have brought down other money in our hand to buy food. We don’t know who put our money in our sacks.”

همچنین مقداری هم پول آوردهایم تا غلّه بخریم ما نمیدانیم چه كسی پولهای ما را در دهانهٔ كیسههای ما گذاشته بود.»
23He said, “Peace be to you. Don’t be afraid. Your God, and the God of your father, has given you treasure in your sacks. I received your money.” He brought Simeon out to them.

خادم گفت: «نگران نباشید و نترسید. خدا -خدای پدر شما- پولهای شما را در دهانهٔ كیسههایتان گذاشته است. من پولهای شما را دریافت كردم.» سپس شمعون را هم پیش آنها آورد.
24The man brought the men into Joseph’s house, and gave them water, and they washed their feet. He gave their donkeys fodder.

خادم تمام برادران را به خانه برد. برای آنها آب آورد تا پاهای خود را بشویند و به الاغهای آنها علوفه داد تا بخورند.
25They prepared the present for Joseph’s coming at noon, for they heard that they should eat bread there.

موقع ظهر قبل از اینكه یوسف به خانه بیاید، آنها هدایای خود را حاضر كردند تا به او تقدیم كنند. زیرا شنیده بودند كه ناهار را با یوسف خواهند خورد.
26When Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed themselves down to him to the earth.

وقتی یوسف به خانه آمد، آنها هدایای خود را برداشته و به خانه آمدند و در مقابل او به زمین افتادند و سجده كردند.
27He asked them of their welfare, and said, “Is your father well, the old man of whom you spoke? Is he yet alive?”
27
یوسف از وضع سلامتی آنها پرسید. سپس به آنها گفت: «شما دربارهٔ پدرتان كه پیر است با من صحبت كردید، او چطور است؟ آیا هنوز زنده است و حالش خوب است؟»
28They said, “Your servant, our father, is well. He is still alive.” They bowed down humbly.

آنها جواب دادند: «غلام تو -پدر ما- هنوز زنده است و حالش خوب است.» پس زانو زدند و در مقابل او تعظیم و سجده كردند.
29He lifted up his eyes, and saw Benjamin, his brother, his mother’s son, and said, “Is this your youngest brother, of whom you spoke to me?” He said, “God be gracious to you, my son.”

وقتی یوسف چشمش به بنیامین -پسر مادرش- افتاد، گفت: «پس این برادر كوچک شماست همان كسیكه دربارهاش با من صحبت كردید. پسرم، خدا تو را بركت بدهد.»
30Joseph hurried, for his heart yearned over his brother; and he sought a place to weep. He entered into his room, and wept there.

سپس ناگهان آنجا را ترک كرد، چون بهخاطر علاقهای كه به برادرش داشت، بغض گلویش را گرفت. پس به اتاق خودش رفت و گریه كرد.
31He washed his face, and came out. He controlled himself, and said, “Serve the meal.”
31
بعد صورت خود را شست و برگشت و در حالی كه خود را كنترل میكرد، دستور داد غذا بیاورند.
32They served him by himself, and them by themselves, and the Egyptians, that ate with him, by themselves, because the Egyptians don’t eat bread with the Hebrews, for that is an abomination to the Egyptians.

یوسف جدا غذا میخورد و برادرانش هم جدا. همچنین مصریانی كه در آنجا غذا میخوردند، جدا بودند زیرا مصریها عبرانیان را نجس میدانستند.
33They sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and the youngest according to his youth, and the men marveled one with another.

برادران دور میز برحسب سن خود -از بزرگ به كوچک- روبهروی یوسف نشسته بودند. وقتی آنها دیدند كه چطور نشستهاند، به یكدیگر نگاه كردند و تعجّب نمودند.
غذا را از میز یوسف تقسیم كردند، امّا قسمت بنیامین پنج برابر بقیّه بود. پس آنها با یوسف خوردند و نوشیدند و خوش بودند.
34He sent portions to them from before him, but Benjamin’s portion was five times as much as any of theirs. They drank, and were merry with him.

غذا را از میز یوسف تقسیم كردند، امّا قسمت بنیامین پنج برابر بقیّه بود. پس آنها با یوسف خوردند و نوشیدند و خوش بودند.
