1He commanded the steward of his house, saying, “Fill the men’s sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put each man’s money in his sack’s mouth.

یوسف به خادم مخصوص دستور داد: «كیسههای آنها را تا آنجا كه میتوانند ببرند، از غلّه پُر كن و پول هركس را هم در بالای كیسهاش بگذار.
2Put my cup, the silver cup, in the sack’s mouth of the youngest, with his grain money.” He did according to the word that Joseph had spoken.

جام نقرهای مرا هم با پولی كه برادر كوچک برای خرید غلّه آورده است در كیسهاش بگذار.» خادم تمام دستورات او را اجرا كرد.
3As soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away, they and their donkeys.

روز بعد صبح زود، برادران را با الاغهایشان روانهٔ راه نمودند.
4When they had gone out of the city, and were not yet far off, Joseph said to his steward, “Up, follow after the men. When you overtake them, ask them, ‘Why have you rewarded evil for good?

هنوز فاصلهٔ زیادی از شهر دور نشده بودند كه یوسف به خادم دستور داد: «با عجله دنبال آنها برو و وقتی به آنها رسیدی بگو:
5Isn’t this that from which my lord drinks, and by which he indeed divines? You have done evil in so doing.’”
5
'چرا در مقابل نیكی بدی كردید و چرا جام نقرهای آقایم را دزدیدید؟ این همان جامی است كه آقای من در آن مینوشد و با آن فال میگیرد. شما كار بسیار بدی كردهاید.'»
6He overtook them, and he spoke these words to them.
6
وقتی خادم به آنها رسید، این سخنان را به آنها گفت.
7They said to him, “Why does my lord speak such words as these? Far be it from your servants that they should do such a thing!
7
آنها به او جواب دادند: «چه میگویی؟ ما قسم میخوریم كه چنین كاری نكردهایم.
8Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks’ mouths, we brought again to you out of the land of Canaan. How then should we steal silver or gold out of your lord’s house?
8
تو میدانی كه ما از سرزمین کنعان، پولی را كه در دهانهٔ كیسههای خود پیدا كردیم برای شما پس آوردیم. پس چرا باید طلا یا نقره از خانهٔ آقای تو بدزدیم؟
9With whomever of your servants it is found, let him die, and we also will be my lord’s bondservants.”

اگر آن را پیش یكی از ما پیدا كردی، او باید كشته شود و بقیّه هم غلامان شما خواهیم شد.»
10He said, “Now also let it be according to your words: he with whom it is found will be my bondservant; and you will be blameless.”

او گفت: «من موافقم. امّا در كیسهٔ هرکس پیدا شود فقط آن شخص غلام من خواهد شد و بقیّهٔ شما آزاد هستید كه بروید.»
11Then they hurried, and each man took his sack down to the ground, and each man opened his sack.
11
همه فوراً كیسههای خود را بر زمین گذاشتند و هریک كیسهٔ خود را باز كرد.
12He searched, beginning with the eldest, and ending at the youngest. The cup was found in Benjamin’s sack.

ناظر با دقّت جستجو كرد. از بزرگتر شروع كرد تا كوچكتر و جام در كیسهٔ بنیامین پیدا شد.
13Then they tore their clothes, and each man loaded his donkey, and returned to the city.
13
برادران لباسهای خود را پاره كردند و الاغهای خود را بار كرده به شهر برگشتند.
14Judah and his brothers came to Joseph’s house, and he was still there. They fell on the ground before him.
14
وقتی یهودا و برادرانش به خانهٔ یوسف آمدند، او هنوز آنجا بود. آنها در مقابل او سجده كردند.
15Joseph said to them, “What deed is this that you have done? Don’t you know that such a man as I can indeed divine?”
15
یوسف گفت: «این چه كاری بود كه كردید؟ آیا نمیدانستید كه مردی مثل من با فالگرفتن شما را پیدا میكند؟»
16Judah said, “What will we tell my lord? What will we speak? Or how will we clear ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants. Behold, we are my lord’s bondservants, both we, and he also in whose hand the cup is found.”

یهودا جواب داد: «ای آقا، ما چه میتوانیم بگوییم و چطور میتوانیم بیگناهی خود را ثابت كنیم؟ خدا گناه ما را آشكار نموده است. حالا نه فقط کسیکه جام در كیسهٔ او بود، بلكه همهٔ ما غلامان تو هستیم.»
17He said, “Far be it from me that I should do so. The man in whose hand the cup is found, he will be my bondservant; but as for you, go up in peace to your father.”

یوسف گفت: «نه، نه، هرگز چنین كاری نخواهم كرد. فقط كسیكه جام در كیسهٔ او پیدا شده، غلام من خواهد شد. بقیّهٔ شما میتوانید صحیح و سالم نزد پدرتان برگردید.»
18Then Judah came near to him, and said, “Oh, my lord, please let your servant speak a word in my lord’s ears, and don’t let your anger burn against your servant; for you are even as Pharaoh.

یهودا به نزد یوسف رفت و گفت: «ای آقا، لطفاً اجازه دهید به روشنی سخن بگویم و نسبت به من عصبانی نشوید. شما مثل خود فرعون هستید.
19My lord asked his servants, saying, ‘Have you a father, or a brother?’
19
ای آقا، از ما پرسیدید كه آیا ما پدر و یا برادر دیگری داریم؟
20We said to my lord, ‘We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother; and his father loves him.’
20
ما جواب دادیم كه پدری داریم كه پیر است. برادر كوچكتری هم كه در زمان پیری پدرمان متولّد شده. برادر آن پسر مرده و او تنها فرزندی است كه از مادر آن پسر برایش باقیمانده است. پدرش او را خیلی دوست دارد.
21You said to your servants, ‘Bring him down to me, that I may set my eyes on him.’
21
ای آقا، شما فرمودید كه او را اینجا بیاوریم تا او را ببینید.
22We said to my lord, ‘The boy can’t leave his father: for if he should leave his father, his father would die.’
22
ما جواب دادیم كه آن پسر نمیتواند پدرش را ترک كند. اگر او را ترک كند، پدرش خواهد مرد.
23You said to your servants, ‘Unless your youngest brother comes down with you, you will see my face no more.’

سپس شما گفتید كه اجازه نداریم پیش شما بازگردیم مگر این كه برادر كوچكمان همراه ما باشد.
24It happened when we came up to your servant my father, we told him the words of my lord.
24
«وقتی ما پیش پدرمان برگشتیم، هرچه شما فرموده بودید به او گفتیم.
25Our father said, ‘Go again, buy us a little food.’
25
سپس او به ما گفت كه برگردید و مقداری خوراک بخرید.
26We said, ‘We can’t go down. If our youngest brother is with us, then we will go down: for we may not see the man’s face, unless our youngest brother is with us.’

ما جواب دادیم كه نمیتوانیم برویم، ما اجازه نداریم پیش آن مرد برویم مگر اینکه برادر كوچک ما هم با ما باشد.
27Your servant, my father, said to us, ‘You know that my wife bore me two sons:

پدرمان گفت كه شما میدانید كه همسرم راحیل فقط دو پسر برای من به دنیا آورد.
28and the one went out from me, and I said, “Surely he is torn in pieces”; and I haven’t seen him since.
28
یكی از آنها از نزد من رفته و حتماً به وسیلهٔ یک حیوان وحشی دریده شده است، چون از وقتی كه مرا ترک كرده دیگر او را ندیدهام
29If you take this one also from me, and harm happens to him, you will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. .’

حالا اگر شما این یكی را هم از من بگیرید و اتّفاقی برای او بیفتد، موهای سفید مرا با غم و اندوه به گور خواهید گذاشت.
30Now therefore when I come to your servant my father, and the boy is not with us; since his life is bound up in the boy’s life;

«حالا ای آقا، اگر من بدون این پسر نزد پدرم برگردم، همین كه ببیند پسر با من نیست، خواهد مرد. زندگی او به این پسر بسته است و ما با اینكار پدر پیر خود را از دست خواهیم داد.
31it will happen, when he sees that the boy is no more, that he will die. Your servants will bring down the gray hairs of your servant, our father, with sorrow to Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. .

دیگر اینکه زندگی خود را برای این پسر نزد پدرم گرو گذاشتهام. اگر این پسر را به نزد او برنگردانم، همانطور كه گفتهام تا آخر عمر نزد پدرم گناهكار خواهم بود.
32For your servant became collateral for the boy to my father, saying, ‘If I don’t bring him to you, then I will bear the blame to my father forever.’

حالا ای آقا، به جای او من اینجا میمانم و غلام شما میشوم. اجازه بدهید او با برادرانش برگردد.
من چطور میتوانم پیش پدرم بازگردم، اگر این پسر با من نباشد؟ من نمیتوانم بلایی را كه به سر پدرم میآید ببینم.»
33Now therefore, please let your servant stay instead of the boy, a bondservant to my lord; and let the boy go up with his brothers.

من چطور میتوانم پیش پدرم بازگردم، اگر این پسر با من نباشد؟ من نمیتوانم بلایی را كه به سر پدرم میآید ببینم.»
34For how will I go up to my father, if the boy isn’t with me?—lest I see the evil that will come on my father.”
