1Israel traveled with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father, Isaac.

یعقوب هرچه داشت جمع كرد و به بئرشبع رفت. و در آنجا برای خدای پدرش اسحاق قربانیها گذرانید.
2God spoke to Israel in the visions of the night, and said, “Jacob, Jacob!” He said, “Here I am.”

در شب خدا در رؤیا به او ظاهر شد و فرمود: «یعقوب، یعقوب،»
او جواب داد: «بلی، ای خداوند.»
3He said, “I am God, the God of your father. Don’t be afraid to go down into Egypt, for there I will make of you a great nation.

خداوند فرمود: «من خدا هستم. خدای پدرت. از رفتن به مصر نترس. زیرا من در آنجا از تو قومی بزرگ به وجود خواهم آورد.
4I will go down with you into Egypt. I will also surely bring you up again. Joseph will close your eyes.”

من با تو به مصر خواهم آمد و از آنجا تو را به این زمین برمیگردانم. موقع مردنت یوسف پیش تو خواهد بود.»
5Jacob rose up from Beersheba, and the sons of Israel carried Jacob, their father, their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.

یعقوب از بئرشبع حركت كرد. پسرانش او و بچّههای كوچک و زنان خود را در گاریهایی كه فرعون فرستاده بود، سوار كردند.
6They took their livestock, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt—Jacob, and all his seed with him,

آنها گلّهها و تمام اموالی را كه در كنعان به دست آورده بودند برداشته و به مصر رفتند. یعقوب تمام خانوادهاش
7his sons, and his sons’ sons with him, his daughters, and his sons’ daughters, and he brought all his seed with him into Egypt.

یعنی پسران، دختران و نوههایش را هم با خود به مصر برد.
8These are the names of the children of Israel, who came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn.

نام کسانیکه با یعقوب به مصر رفتند از این قرار است:
پسر بزرگ یعقوب، رئوبین
9The sons of Reuben: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.

و پسران رئوبین، حنوک، فلو، حسرون و كارمی
10The sons of Simeon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman.

و شمعون و پسرانش: یموئیل، یامین، اوهد، یاكین، صوحر و شاول پسر زن كنعانی.
11The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

لاوی و پسرانش: جرشون، قهات و مراری
12The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah; but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.

یهودا و پسرانش: شیله، فارص و زارح (عیر و اونان پسران دیگر یهودا در كنعان مردند.) پسران فارص كه عبارت بودند از: حصرون و حامول.
13The sons of Issachar: Tola, Puvah, Iob, and Shimron.

یساكار و پسرانش: تولاع، فُوَه، یوب و شمرون.
14The sons of Zebulun: Sered, Elon, and Jahleel.

زبولون و پسرانش سارد، ایلون و یا حلیئیل.
15These are the sons of Leah, whom she bore to Jacob in Paddan Aram, with his daughter Dinah. All the souls of his sons and his daughters were thirty-three.

اینها پسرانی هستند كه لیه علاوه بر دخترش دینه، برای یعقوب در فدان اَرام به دنیا آورد و تعدادشان سی و سه نفر بود.
16The sons of Gad: Ziphion, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi, and Areli.

همراه اینها جاد و پسران او یعنی صفیون، حجی، شونی، اصبون، عبی، ارودی و ارئیلی بودند.
17The sons of Asher: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, Beriah, and Serah their sister. The sons of Beriah: Heber and Malchiel.

همچنین اشخاص ذیل هم در جمع آنها بودند: پسران اشیر: یمنه، یشوه، یشوی، بریعه و خواهرشان سارح. پسران بریعه: حابر و ملكیئیل.
18These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah, his daughter, and these she bore to Jacob, even sixteen souls.

شانزده پسر زلفه، كنیزی كه لابان به دختر خود، لیه داد.
19The sons of Rachel, Jacob’s wife: Joseph and Benjamin.

دو پسر راحیل زن یعقوب یوسف و بنیامین.
20To Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, priest of On, bore to him.

پسران یوسف، منسی و افرایم كه اسنات دختر فوطی فارع، كاهن اون، برای یوسف در سرزمین مصر به دنیا آورد.
21The sons of Benjamin: Bela, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard.

پسران بنیامین: بالع، باكر، اشبیل، جیرا، نعمان، ایحی، رش، مفیم، حفیم و آرد.
22These are the sons of Rachel, who were born to Jacob: all the souls were fourteen.

این چهارده نفر پسران و نوادگان راحیل و یعقوب بودند.
23The son of Dan: Hushim.
23
پسر دان: حوشیم.
24The sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem.

پسران نفتالی: یحصیئیل، جونی، یصر و شلیم.
25These are the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban gave to Rachel, his daughter, and these she bore to Jacob: all the souls were seven.

اینها پسران بلهه، كنیزی كه لابان به دختر خود راحیل داد و او برای یعقوب به دنیا آورد تعدادشان هفت نفر بود.
26All the souls who came with Jacob into Egypt, who were his direct descendants, besides Jacob’s sons’ wives, all the souls were sixty-six.

تعداد فرزندان یعقوب-به غیراز پسران و زنهای آنها- كه با او به سرزمین مصر رفتند شصت و شش نفر بود.
27The sons of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt, were two souls. All the souls of the house of Jacob, who came into Egypt, were seventy.

و با دو پسر یوسف كه در مصر متولّد شده بودند مجموع خانوادهٔ یعقوب به هفتاد میرسید.
28He sent Judah before him to Joseph, to show the way before him to Goshen, and they came into the land of Goshen.

یعقوب یهودا را پیش از خود پیش یوسف فرستاد تا به او خبر بدهد كه پدرش و خانوادهٔ او در راه هستند و بزودی به جوشن میرسند.
29Joseph prepared his chariot, and went up to meet Israel, his father, in Goshen. He presented himself to him, and fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.

یوسف ارابهٔ خود را حاضر كرد و به جوشن رفت تا از پدرش استقبال كند. وقتی یكدیگر را دیدند، یوسف دستهای خود را به گردن پدرش انداخت و مدّت زیادی گریه کرد.
30Israel said to Joseph, “Now let me die, since I have seen your face, that you are still alive.”

یعقوب به یوسف گفت: «حالا دیگر برای مردن حاضرم، من تو را دیدم و یقین دارم كه هنوز زندهای.»
31Joseph said to his brothers, and to his father’s house, “I will go up, and speak with Pharaoh, and will tell him, ‘My brothers, and my father’s house, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me.

سپس یوسف به برادرانش و سایر اعضای خانوادهٔ پدرش گفت: «من باید به نزد فرعون بروم و به او خبر بدهم كه برادرانم و تمام اهل خانهٔ پدرم كه در كنعان زندگی میكردند پیش من آمدهاند.
32These men are shepherds, for they have been keepers of livestock, and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have.’

به او خواهم گفت كه شما چوپان هستید و حیوانات و گلّهها و رمههای خود را با تمام دارایی خود آوردهاید.
33It will happen, when Pharaoh summons you, and will say, ‘What is your occupation?’

وقتی فرعون از شما بپرسد كه كار شما چیست؟
بگویید: 'ما از دوران كودكی مانند اجدادمان چوپان بودیم و از گلّههای خود مواظبت میكنیم.' به این ترتیب او به شما اجازه میدهد كه در منطقهٔ جوشن ساكن شوید.» یوسف این را بهخاطر این گفت كه مصریها چوپانان را ناپاک میدانستند.
34that you shall say, ‘Your servants have been keepers of livestock from our youth even until now, both we, and our fathers:’ that you may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians.”

بگویید: 'ما از دوران كودكی مانند اجدادمان چوپان بودیم و از گلّههای خود مواظبت میكنیم.' به این ترتیب او به شما اجازه میدهد كه در منطقهٔ جوشن ساكن شوید.» یوسف این را بهخاطر این گفت كه مصریها چوپانان را ناپاک میدانستند.
