¹So Pilate then took Jesus, and flogged him.

¹ در این وقت پیلاطس دستور داد عیسی را تازیانه زدند

²The soldiers twisted thorns into a crown, and put it on his head, and dressed him in a purple garment.

² و سربازان تاجی از خار بافته بر سر او گذاشتند و ردایی ارغوانی رنگ به او پوشانیدند.

³They kept saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and they kept slapping him.

³ و پیش او می‌آمدند و می‌گفتند: «درود بر پادشاه یهود!» و به او سیلی می‌زدند.

⁴Then Pilate went out again, and said to them, “Behold, I bring him out to you, that you may know that I find no basis for a charge against him.”

⁴ بار دیگر پیلاطس بیرون آمد و به آنها گفت: «ببینید، او را پیش شما می‌آورم تا بدانید كه در او هیچ جُرمی نمی‌بینم.»

⁵Jesus therefore came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple garment. Pilate said to them, “Behold, the man!”

⁵ و عیسی درحالی‌که تاج خاری بر سر و ردایی ارغوانی برتن داشت بیرون آمد. پیلاطس گفت: «ببینید، آن مرد اینجاست.»

⁶When therefore the chief priests and the officers saw him, they shouted, saying, “Crucify! Crucify!” Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves, and crucify him, for I find no basis for a charge against him.”

⁶ وقتی سران كاهنان و مأموران آنها را دیدند، فریاد كردند: «مصلوبش كن! مصلوبش كن!» پیلاطس گفت: «شما او را ببرید و مصلوبش كنید، چون من هیچ تقصیری در او نمی‌بینم.»

⁷The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.”

⁷ یهودیان پاسخ دادند: «ما قانونی داریم كه به موجب آن او باید بمیرد، زیرا ادّعا می‌کند كه پسر خداست.»

⁸When therefore Pilate heard this saying, he was more afraid.

⁸ وقتی پیلاطس این را شنید بیش از پیش هراسان شد

⁹He entered into the Praetorium again, and said to Jesus, “Where are you from?” But Jesus gave him no answer.

⁹ و باز به کاخ خود رفت و از عیسی پرسید: «تو اهل كجا هستی؟» عیسی به او پاسخ نداد.

¹⁰Pilate therefore said to him, “Aren’t you speaking to me? Don’t you know that I have power to release you, and have power to crucify you?”

¹⁰ پیلاطس گفت: «آیا به من جواب نمی‌دهی؟ مگر نمی‌دانی كه من قدرت دارم تو را آزاد سازم و قدرت دارم تو را مصلوب نمایم؟»

¹¹Jesus answered, “You would have no power at all against me, unless it were given to you from above. Therefore he who delivered me to you has greater sin.”

¹¹ عیسی در جواب گفت: «تو هیچ قدرتی بر من نمی‌داشتی، اگر خدا آن را به تو نمی‌داد. از این رو کسی‌که مرا به تو تسلیم نمود، تقصیر بیشتری دارد.»

¹²At this, Pilate was seeking to release him, but the Jews cried out, saying, “If you release this man, you aren’t Caesar’s friend! Everyone who makes himself a king speaks against Caesar!”

¹² از آن وقت به بعد پیلاطس سعی كرد او را آزاد سازد ولی یهودیان دایماً فریاد می‌کردند: «اگر این مرد را آزاد كنی دوست قیصر نیستی. هرکه ادّعای پادشاهی كند، دشمن قیصر است.»

¹³When Pilate therefore heard these words, he brought Jesus out, and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called “The Pavement,” but in Hebrew, “Gabbatha.”

¹³ وقتی پیلاطس این را شنید عیسی را بیرون آورد و خود در محلی موسوم به سنگفرش كه به زبان عبری آن را جباتا می‌گفتند، بر مسند قضاوت نشست.

¹⁴Now it was the Preparation Day of the Passover, at about the sixth hour. “the sixth hour” would have been 6:00 AM according to the Roman timekeeping system, or noon for the Jewish timekeeping system in use, then. He said to the Jews, “Behold, your King!”

¹⁴ وقت تهیّه فصح و نزدیک ظهر بود كه پیلاطس به یهودیان گفت: «ببینید، پادشاه شما اینجاست.»

¹⁵They cried out, “Away with him! Away with him! Crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar!”

¹⁵ ولی آنها فریاد كردند: «اعدامش كن! اعدامش كن! مصلوبش كن!» پیلاطس گفت: «آیا می‌خواهید پادشاه شما را مصلوب كنم؟» سران كاهنان جواب دادند: «ما پادشاهی جز قیصر نداریم.»

¹⁶So then he delivered him to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus and led him away.

¹⁶ سرانجام پیلاطس عیسی را به دست آنها داد تا مصلوب شود. پس آنها عیسی را تحویل گرفتند.

¹⁷He went out, bearing his cross, to the place called “The Place of a Skull,” which is called in Hebrew, “Golgotha,”

¹⁷ عیسی درحالی‌که صلیب خود را می‌برد، به جایی‌که به «محلهٔ كاسه سر» و به عبری به جُلجُتا موسوم است، رفت.

¹⁸where they crucified him, and with him two others, on either side one, and Jesus in the middle.

¹⁸ در آنجا او را به صلیب میخكوب كردند و با او دو نفر دیگر را یکی در دست راست و دیگری در سمت چپ او مصلوب كردند و عیسی در وسط آن دو نفر بود.

¹⁹Pilate wrote a title also, and put it on the cross. There was written, “JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

¹⁹ پیلاطس تقصیرنامه‌ای نوشت تا بر صلیب نصب گردد و آن نوشته چنین بود: «عیسای ناصری پادشاه یهود.»

²⁰Therefore many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, in Latin, and in Greek.

²⁰ بسیاری از یهودیان این تقصیرنامه را خواندند، زیرا جایی‌که عیسی مصلوب شد از شهر دور نبود و آن تقصیرنامه به زبانهای عبری و لاتین و یونانی نوشته شده بود.

²¹The chief priests of the Jews therefore said to Pilate, “Don’t write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but, ‘he said, I am King of the Jews.’”

²¹ بنابراین، سران كاهنان یهود به پیلاطس گفتند: «ننویس پادشاه یهود، بنویس او ادّعا می‌کرد كه پادشاه یهود است.»

²²Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”

²² پیلاطس پاسخ داد: «هرچه نوشتم، نوشتم.»

²³Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also the coat. Now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.

²³ پس از اینكه سربازان عیسی را به صلیب میخكوب كردند، لباسهای او را برداشتند و چهار قسمت كردند و هر یک از سربازان یک قسمت از آن را برداشت ولی پیراهن او كه درز نداشت و از بالا تا پایین یک‌پارچه بافته شده بود، باقی ماند.

²⁴Then they said to one another, “Let’s not tear it, but cast lots for it to decide whose it will be,” that the Scripture might be fulfilled, which says, “They parted my garments among them. For my cloak they cast lots.” Psalm 22:18 Therefore the soldiers did these things.

²⁴ پس آنها به یكدیگر گفتند: «آن را پاره نكنیم، بیایید روی آن قرعه بیندازیم و ببینیم به چه كسی می‌رسد.» به این ترتیب كلام خدا كه می‌فرماید: «لباسهای مرا در میان خود تقسیم كردند و بر ردایم قرعه افكندند.» به حقیقت پیوست و سربازان همین كار را كردند.

²⁵But there were standing by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

²⁵ نزدیک صلیبی كه عیسی به آن میخكوب شده بود، مادر عیسی به اتّفاق خواهرش مریم زن كلوپاس و مریم مجدلیه ایستاده بودند.

²⁶Therefore when Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing there, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold your son!”

²⁶ وقتی عیسی مادر خود را دید كه پهلوی همان شاگردی كه او را دوست می‌داشت ایستاده است، به مادر خود گفت: «مادر، این پسر توست.»

²⁷Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” From that hour, the disciple took her to his own home.

²⁷ و بعد به شاگرد خود گفت: «و این مادر توست.» و از همان لحظه آن شاگرد او را به خانهٔ خود برد.

²⁸After this, Jesus, seeing NU, TR read “knowing” instead of “seeing” that all things were now finished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I am thirsty.”

²⁸ بعد از آن عیسی دید كه همه‌چیز انجام شده است، گفت: «تشنه‌ام.» و به این طریق پیشگویی كلام خدا تحقّق یافت.

²⁹Now a vessel full of vinegar was set there; so they put a sponge full of the vinegar on hyssop, and held it at his mouth.

²⁹ خمره‌ای پر از شراب تُرشیده در آنجا قرار داشت. آنها اسفنجی را به شراب آغشته كردند و آن را بر سر نی‌ای گذارده جلوی دهان او گرفتند.

³⁰When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, “It is finished.” He bowed his head, and gave up his spirit.

³⁰ وقتی عیسی به شراب لب زد گفت: «تمام شد.» بعد سر به‌ زیر افكنده جان سپرد.

³¹Therefore the Jews, because it was the Preparation Day, so that the bodies wouldn’t remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a special one), asked of Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

³¹ چون جمعه با روز تهیّه فصح مصادف بود و یهودیان نمی‌خواستند اجساد مصلوب شدگان در آن سبت بزرگ بر روی صلیب بماند، از پیلاطس درخواست كردند كه ساق پای آن سه را بشكنند و آنها را از صلیب پایین بیاورند.

³²Therefore the soldiers came, and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who was crucified with him;

³² پس سربازان جلو آمدند و ساق پای آن دو نفری را كه با عیسی مصلوب شده بودند، شكستند.

³³but when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was already dead, they didn’t break his legs.

³³ امّا وقتی پیش عیسی آمدند، دیدند كه او مرده است و از این رو ساقهای او را نشكستند.

³⁴However one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.

³⁴ امّا یکی از سربازان نیزه‌ای به پهلوی او فرو كرد و خون و آب از بدنش جاری شد.

³⁵He who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, that you may believe.

³⁵ کسی‌که خود شاهد این واقعه بود این را می‌گوید و شهادت او راست است، او حقیقت را می‌گوید تا شما نیز ایمان آورید.

³⁶For these things happened, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, “A bone of him will not be broken.” Exodus 12:46; Numbers 9:12; Psalm 34:20

³⁶ چنین شد تا پیشگویی کتاب‌مقدّس كه می‌فرماید: «هیچ‌یک از استخوانهایش شكسته نخواهد شد.» تحقّق یابد.

³⁷Again another Scripture says, “They will look on him whom they pierced.” Zechariah 12:10

³⁷ و در جای دیگر می‌فرماید: «آنها به کسی‌که نیزه زده‌اند، نگاه خواهند كرد.»

³⁸After these things, Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked of Pilate that he might take away Jesus’ body. Pilate gave him permission. He came therefore and took away his body.

³⁸ بعد از آن یوسف رامه‌ای كه به علّت ترس از یهودیان مخفیانه شاگرد عیسی بود، پیش پیلاطس رفت و اجازه خواست كه جنازهٔ عیسی را بردارد. پیلاطس به او اجازه داد. پس آمد و جسد عیسی را برداشت.

³⁹Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred Roman pounds. 100 Roman pounds of 12 ounces each, or about 72 pounds, or 33 Kilograms.

³⁹ نیقودیموس، یعنی همان کسی‌که ابتدا شبانه به دیدن عیسی رفته بود، نیز آمد و با خود مخلوطی از مُرّ و چوب عود كه در حدود پنجاه كیلو می‌شد، آورد.

⁴⁰So they took Jesus’ body, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury.

⁴⁰ آنها بدن عیسی را بردند و مطابق مراسم تدفین یهود، در پارچه‌ای كتانی با داروهای معطّر پیچیدند.

⁴¹Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden. In the garden was a new tomb in which no man had ever yet been laid.

⁴¹ در نزدیكی محلی كه او مصلوب شد، باغی بود و در آن باغ قبر تازه‌ای قرار داشت كه هنوز کسی در آن دفن نشده بود. چون روز قبل از سبت بود و قبر هم در همان نزدیكی قرار داشت، جسد عیسی را در آنجا دفن كردند.

⁴²Then because of the Jews’ Preparation Day (for the tomb was near at hand) they laid Jesus there.
