¹After these things, Jesus went away to the other side of the sea of Galilee, which is also called the Sea of Tiberias.

¹ بعد از این عیسی به طرف دیگر دریای جلیل كه در دریای طبریه است رفت

²A great multitude followed him, because they saw his signs which he did on those who were sick.

² و عدّهٔ زیادی، كه معجزات او را در شفا دادن به بیماران دیده بودند، به دنبال او رفتند.

³Jesus went up into the mountain, and he sat there with his disciples.

³ آنگاه عیسی به بالای كوهی رفت و با شاگردان خود در آنجا نشست.

⁴Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand.

⁴ روزهای عید فصح یهودیان نزدیک بود.

⁵Jesus therefore lifting up his eyes, and seeing that a great multitude was coming to him, said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, that these may eat?”

⁵ وقتی عیسی به اطراف نگاه كرد و عدّهٔ زیادی را دید كه به طرف او می‌آیند، از فیلیپُس پرسید: «از كجا باید نان بخریم تا اینها بخورند؟»

⁶This he said to test him, for he himself knew what he would do.

⁶ عیسی این را از روی امتحان به او گفت زیرا خود او می‌دانست چه باید بكند.

⁷Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that everyone of them may receive a little.”

⁷ فیلیپُس پاسخ داد: «دویست سکّهٔ نقره نان هم كافی نیست كه هر یک از آنها کمی بخورد.»

⁸One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him,

⁸ یکی از شاگردانش به نام اندریاس كه برادر شمعون پطرس بود، به او گفت:

⁹“There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these among so many?”

⁹ «پسر بچّه‌ای در اینجا هست كه پنج نان جو و دو ماهی دارد، ولی آن برای این عدّه چه می‌شود؟»

¹⁰Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in that place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

¹⁰ عیسی گفت: «مردم را بنشانید.» در آنجا سبزه بسیار بود، پس مردم كه در حدود پنج هزار مرد بودند، نشستند.

¹¹Jesus took the loaves; and having given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those who were sitting down; likewise also of the fish as much as they desired.

¹¹ آنگاه عیسی نانها را برداشت، خدا را شكر كرد و در میان مردم، كه بر روی زمین نشسته بودند تقسیم نمود. ماهیان را نیز همین‌طور هرقدر خواستند تقسیم كرد.

¹²When they were filled, he said to his disciples, “Gather up the broken pieces which are left over, that nothing be lost.”

¹² وقتی همه سیر شدند، به شاگردان گفت: «خورده‌های نان را جمع كنید تا چیزی تلف نشود.»

¹³So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten.

¹³ پس شاگردان آنها را جمع كردند و دوازده سبد از خورده‌های باقیماندهٔ آن پنج نان جو پُر نمودند.

¹⁴When therefore the people saw the sign which Jesus did, they said, “This is truly the prophet who comes into the world.”

¹⁴ وقتی مردم این معجزهٔ عیسی را دیدند گفتند: «در حقیقت این همان نبی موعود است كه می‌بایست به جهان بیاید.»

¹⁵Jesus therefore, perceiving that they were about to come and take him by force, to make him king, withdrew again to the mountain by himself.

¹⁵ پس چون عیسی متوجّه شد كه آنها می‌خواهند او را بزور برده پادشاه سازند، از آنها جدا شد و تنها به كوهستان رفت.

¹⁶When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea,

¹⁶ در وقت غروب، شاگردان به طرف دریا رفتند

¹⁷and they entered into the boat, and were going over the sea to Capernaum. It was now dark, and Jesus had not come to them.

¹⁷ و سوار قایق شده به آن طرف دریا به سوی كفرناحوم حركت كردند. هوا تاریک شده بود و عیسی هنوز پیش ایشان برنگشته بود.

¹⁸The sea was tossed by a great wind blowing.

¹⁸ باد شدیدی شروع به وزیدن كرد و دریا توفانی شد.

¹⁹When therefore they had rowed about twenty-five or thirty stadia, 25 to 30 stadia is about 5 to 6 kilometers or about 3 to 4 miles they saw Jesus walking on the sea, see Job 9:8 and drawing near to the boat; and they were afraid.

¹⁹ وقتی در حدود شش کیلومتر جلو رفتند، عیسی را دیدند كه بر روی آب قدم می‌زند و به طرف قایق می‌آید. آنها ترسیدند.

²⁰But he said to them, “It is I or, I AM . Don’t be afraid.”

²⁰ امّا عیسی به آنها گفت: «من هستم، نترسید.»

²¹They were willing therefore to receive him into the boat. Immediately the boat was at the land where they were going.

²¹ می‌خواستند او را به داخل قایق بیاورند، ولی قایق بزودی به مقصد رسید.

²²On the next day, the multitude that stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, except the one in which his disciples had embarked, and that Jesus hadn’t entered with his disciples into the boat, but his disciples had gone away alone.

²² روز بعد مردمی كه در كنارهٔ دیگر دریا ایستاده بودند دیدند كه، به جز همان قایقی كه شاگردان سوار شده بودند، قایق دیگری در آنجا نبود و عیسی هم سوار آن نشده بود، بلكه شاگردان بدون عیسی رفته بودند.

²³However boats from Tiberias came near to the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks.

²³ ولی قایقهای دیگری از طبریه به نزدیكی همان محلی كه مردم نانها را بعد از شکرگزاری خداوند خورده بودند، رسیدند.

²⁴When the multitude therefore saw that Jesus wasn’t there, nor his disciples, they themselves got into the boats, and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.

²⁴ وقتی مردم دیدند كه عیسی و شاگردانش در آنجا نیستند، سوار این قایقها شده در جستجوی عیسی به كفرناحوم رفتند.

²⁵When they found him on the other side of the sea, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?”

²⁵ همین‌که او را در آن طرف دریا پیدا كردند، به او گفتند: «ای استاد، چه وقت به اینجا آمدی؟»

²⁶Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, you seek me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves, and were filled.

²⁶ عیسی پاسخ داد: «یقین بدانید به علّت معجزاتی كه دیده‌اید نیست كه به دنبال من آمده‌اید، بلكه به‌خاطر نانی كه خوردید و سیر شدید.

²⁷ Don’t work for the food which perishes, but for the food which remains to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has sealed him.”

²⁷ برای خوراک فانی تلاش نكنید بلكه برای خوراكی كه تا حیات جاودان باقی می‌ماند یعنی خوراكی كه پسر انسان به شما خواهد داد، زیرا كه پدر او را تأیید كرده است.»

²⁸They said therefore to him, “What must we do, that we may work the works of God?”

²⁸ آنها از او پرسیدند: «وظیفهٔ ما چیست؟ چطور می‌توانیم كارهایی را كه خدا از ما می‌خواهد انجام دهیم؟»

²⁹Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”

²⁹ عیسی به ایشان پاسخ داد: «آن کاری كه خدا از شما می‌خواهد این است كه به کسی‌که فرستاده است ایمان بیاورید.»

³⁰They said therefore to him, “What then do you do for a sign, that we may see, and believe you? What work do you do?

³⁰ آنها گفتند: «چه معجزه‌ای نشان می‌دهی تا به تو ایمان بیاوریم؟ چه می‌کنی؟

³¹Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness. As it is written, ‘He gave them bread out of heaven Greek and Hebrew use the same word for “heaven”, “the heavens”, “the sky”, and “the air”. to eat.’” Exodus 16:4; Nehemiah 9:15; Psalm 78:24-25

³¹ نیاکان ما در بیابان مَنّا را خوردند و چنانکه كتاب‌مقدّس می‌فرماید: 'او از آسمان به آنها نان عطا فرمود تا بخورند.'»

³²Jesus therefore said to them, “Most certainly, I tell you, it wasn’t Moses who gave you the bread out of heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven.

³² عیسی به آنان گفت: «یقین بدانید آن موسی نبود كه از آسمان به شما نان داد، بلكه پدر من نان حقیقی را از آسمان به شما عطا می‌کند،

³³ For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world.”

³³ زیرا نان خدا آن است كه از آسمان نازل شده به جهان حیات می‌بخشد.»

³⁴They said therefore to him, “Lord, always give us this bread.”

³⁴ به او گفتند: «ای آقا، همیشه این نان را به ما بده.»

³⁵Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.

³⁵ عیسی به آنها گفت: «من نان حیات هستم. هرکه نزد من بیاید، هرگز گرسنه نخواهد شد و هرکه به من ایمان بیاورد، هرگز تشنه نخواهد گردید.

³⁶ But I told you that you have seen me, and yet you don’t believe.

³⁶ امّا چنانکه گفتم شما با اینكه مرا دیدید ایمان نیاوردید.

³⁷ All those whom the Father gives me will come to me. He who comes to me I will in no way throw out.

³⁷ همهٔ کسانی‌که پدر به من می‌بخشد به سوی من خواهند آمد و کسی را که پیش من می‌آید بیرون نخواهم كرد.

³⁸ For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.

³⁸ من از آسمان به زمین آمده‌ام نه به‌خاطر آنكه ارادهٔ خود را به عمل آورم، بلكه ارادهٔ فرستندهٔ خویش را

³⁹ This is the will of my Father who sent me, that of all he has given to me I should lose nothing, but should raise him up at the last day.

³⁹ و ارادهٔ فرستندهٔ من این است كه من از همهٔ کسانی‌که او به من داده است حتّی یک نفر را هم از دست ندهم، بلكه در روز بازپسین آنها را زنده كنم.

⁴⁰ This is the will of the one who sent me, that everyone who sees the Son, and believes in him, should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

⁴⁰ زیرا خواست پدر من این است كه هرکس پسر را می‌بیند و به او ایمان می‌آورد، صاحب حیات جاودان گردد. و من او را در روز بازپسین زنده خواهم كرد.»

⁴¹The Jews therefore murmured concerning him, because he said, “I am the bread which came down out of heaven.”

⁴¹ پس یهودیان شكایت‌كنان به او اعتراض كردند، زیرا او گفته بود: «من آن نانی هستم كه از آسمان نازل شده است.»

⁴²They said, “Isn’t this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then does he say, ‘I have come down out of heaven?’”

⁴² آنها گفتند: «آیا این مرد عیسی، پسر یوسف، نیست كه ما پدر و مادر او را می‌شناسیم؟ پس چگونه می‌گوید: 'من از آسمان آمده‌ام.'»

⁴³Therefore Jesus answered them, “Don’t murmur among yourselves.

⁴³ عیسی در جواب گفت: «این‌قدر شكایت نكنید.

⁴⁴ No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up in the last day.

⁴⁴ هیچ‌کس نمی‌تواند نزد من بیاید، مگر اینكه پدری كه مرا فرستاد او را به طرف من جذب نماید و من او را در روز بازپسین زنده خواهم ساخت.

⁴⁵ It is written in the prophets, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Isaiah 54:13 Therefore everyone who hears from the Father, and has learned, comes to me.

⁴⁵ در كتب انبیا نوشته شده است: همه از خدا تعلیم خواهند یافت. بنابراین هرکس صدای پدر را شنیده واز او تعلیم گرفته باشد، نزد من می‌آید.

⁴⁶ Not that anyone has seen the Father, except he who is from God. He has seen the Father.

⁴⁶ البتّه هیچ‌کس پدر را ندیده است. فقط کسی‌که از جانب خدا آمده پدر را دیده است.

⁴⁷ Most certainly, I tell you, he who believes in me has eternal life.

⁴⁷ یقین بدانید کسی‌که به من ایمان می‌آورد حیات جاودان دارد.

⁴⁸ I am the bread of life.

⁴⁸ من نان حیات هستم.

⁴⁹ Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.

⁴⁹ نیاکان شما در بیابان مَنّا را خوردند ولی مردند.

⁵⁰ This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, that anyone may eat of it and not die.

⁵⁰ امّا من دربارهٔ نانی صحبت می‌کنم كه از آسمان نازل شده است و اگر کسی از آن بخورد هرگز نمی‌میرد.

⁵¹ I am the living bread which came down out of heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. Yes, the bread which I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”

⁵¹ من آن نان زنده هستم كه از آسمان آمده است. هرکه این نان را بخورد تا ابد زنده خواهد ماند و نانی كه من خواهم داد، بدن خودم می‌باشد، كه آن را به‌خاطر حیات جهانیان می‌دهم.»

⁵²The Jews therefore contended with one another, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”

⁵² یهودیان با یكدیگر به مشاجره پرداختند و می‌گفتند: «چگونه این شخص می‌تواند بدن خود را به ما بدهد تا بخوریم؟»

⁵³Jesus therefore said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you don’t have life in yourselves.

⁵³ عیسی پاسخ داد: «یقین بدانید اگر بدن پسر انسان را نخورید و خون او را نیاشامید در خودتان حیات ندارید.

⁵⁴ He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

⁵⁴ هركه بدن مرا بخورد و خون مرا بیاشامد حیات جاودان دارد و من در روز بازپسین او را زنده خواهم ساخت.

⁵⁵ For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

⁵⁵ زیرا جسم من خوراک حقیقی و خون من نوشیدنی حقیقی است.

⁵⁶ He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me, and I in him.

⁵⁶ هرکه جسم مرا می‌خورد و خون مرا می‌آشامد، در من ساكن است و من در او.

⁵⁷ As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father; so he who feeds on me, he will also live because of me.

⁵⁷ همان طوری که پدر زنده مرا فرستاد و من به وسیلهٔ پدر زنده هستم، هرکه مرا بخورد به وسیلهٔ من زنده خواهد ماند.

⁵⁸ This is the bread which came down out of heaven—not as our fathers ate the manna, and died. He who eats this bread will live forever.”

⁵⁸ این نانی كه از آسمان نازل شده، مانند نانی نیست كه نیاکان شما خوردند و مردند. زیرا هرکه از این نان بخورد تا به ابد زنده خواهد ماند.»

⁵⁹He said these things in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

⁵⁹ این چیزها را عیسی هنگامی‌که در كنیسه‌ای در كفرناحوم تعلیم می‌داد فرمود.

⁶⁰Therefore many of his disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying! Who can listen to it?”

⁶⁰ بسیاری از پیروانش هنگامی‌که این را شنیدند گفتند: «این تعلیم سخت است، چه کسی می‌تواند به آن گوش دهد؟»

⁶¹But Jesus knowing in himself that his disciples murmured at this, said to them, “Does this cause you to stumble?

⁶¹ وقتی عیسی احساس كرد كه پیروانش از این موضوع شكایت می‌کنند، به آنها گفت: «آیا این مطلب باعث لغزش شما شد؟

⁶² Then what if you would see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?

⁶² پس اگر پسر انسان را ببینید كه به مكان اول خود صعود می‌كند چه خواهید كرد؟

⁶³ It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.

⁶³ روح است كه حیات می‌بخشد ولی جسم فایده‌ای ندارد. سخنانی كه به شما می‌گویم روح و حیات است

⁶⁴ But there are some of you who don’t believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who didn’t believe, and who it was who would betray him.

⁶⁴ ولی بعضی از شما ایمان ندارید.» زیرا عیسی از ابتدا کسانی را كه ایمان نداشتند و همچنین آن کسی را كه بعداً او را تسلیم كرد می‌شناخت.

⁶⁵He said, “For this cause have I said to you that no one can come to me, unless it is given to him by my Father.”

⁶⁵ پس گفت: «به همین دلیل به شما گفتم كه هیچ‌کس نمی‌تواند نزد من بیاید، مگر آنكه پدر من این فیض را به او عطا كرده باشد.»

⁶⁶At this, many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

⁶⁶ از آن به بعد بسیاری از پیروان او برگشتند و دیگر با او همراهی نكردند.

⁶⁷Jesus said therefore to the twelve, “You don’t also want to go away, do you?”

⁶⁷ آن وقت عیسی از دوازده حواری پرسید: «آیا شما هم می‌خواهید مرا ترک كنید؟»

⁶⁸Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.

⁶⁸ شمعون پطرس در جواب گفت: «ای خداوند، نزد كه برویم؟ كلمات حیات جاودانی نزد توست.

⁶⁹We have come to believe and know that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

⁶⁹ ما ایمان و اطمینان داریم كه تو آن پاک مرد خدا هستی.»

⁷⁰Jesus answered them, “Didn’t I choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?”

⁷⁰ عیسی پاسخ داد: «آیا من شما دوازده نفر را برنگزیدم؟ در حالی‌كه یکی از شما ابلیسی است.» این را دربارهٔ یهودای اسخریوطی پسر شمعون گفت. زیرا او كه یکی از آن دوازده حواری بود، قصد داشت عیسی را تسلیم كند.

⁷¹Now he spoke of Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, for it was he who would betray him, being one of the twelve.

⁷¹ این را دربارهٔ یهودای اسخریوطی پسر شمعون گفت. زیرا او كه یکی از آن دوازده حواری بود، قصد داشت عیسی را تسلیم كند.
