¹Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the Passover, drew near.

¹ عید فطیر كه به فصح معروف است نزدیک می‌شد.

²The chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put him to death, for they feared the people.

² سران كاهنان و علما در پی آن بودند بهانه‌ای پیدا نموده عیسی را به قتل برسانند زیرا از تودهٔ مردم بیم داشتند.

³Satan entered into Judas, who was surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered with the twelve.

³ شیطان به دل یهودا كه لقب اسخریوطی داشت و یكی از دوازده حواری بود وارد شد.

⁴He went away, and talked with the chief priests and captains about how he might deliver him to them.

⁴ یهودا پیش سران كاهنان و افسرانی كه مسئول نگهبانی از معبد بزرگ بودند رفت و با آنان در این خصوص كه چگونه عیسی را به دست آنان تسلیم كند گفت‌وگو كرد.

⁵They were glad, and agreed to give him money.

⁵ ایشان بسیار خوشحال شدند و تعهّد نمودند مبلغی پول به او بدهند.

⁶He consented, and sought an opportunity to deliver him to them in the absence of the multitude.

⁶ یهودا موافقت كرد و پی فرصت می‌گشت تا عیسی را دور از چشم مردم به دست آنان بسپارد.

⁷The day of unleavened bread came, on which the Passover must be sacrificed.

⁷ روز عید فطیر كه در آن قربانی فصح بایستی ذبح شود فرا رسید،

⁸He sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.”

⁸ عیسی، پطرس و یوحنا را با این دستور روانه كرد: «بروید و شام فصح را برای ما تهیّه كنید تا بخوریم.»

⁹They said to him, “Where do you want us to prepare?”

⁹ آنها پرسیدند: «كجا میل داری تدارک ببینیم؟»

¹⁰He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered into the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him into the house which he enters.

¹⁰ عیسی پاسخ داد: «گوش بدهید، به محض اینكه به شهر قدم بگذارید مردی با شما روبه‌رو خواهد شد كه كوزهٔ آبی حمل می‌كند. به دنبال او به داخل خانه‌ای كه او می‌رود بروید

¹¹ Tell the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?”’

¹¹ و به صاحب آن خانه بگویید 'استاد می‌گوید آن اتاقی كه من با شاگردانم فصح را در آنجا خواهم خورد كجاست؟'

¹² He will show you a large, furnished upper room. Make preparations there.”

¹² او اتاق بزرگ و مفروشی را در طبقهٔ دوم به شما نشان می‌د‌هد. در آنجا تدارک ببینید.»

¹³They went, found things as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

¹³ آنها رفتند و همه‌چیز را آن‌طور كه او فرموده بود مشاهده كردند و به این ترتیب تدارک فصح را دیدند.

¹⁴When the hour had come, he sat down with the twelve apostles.

¹⁴ وقتی ساعت معیّن فرا رسید عیسی با رسولان سر سفره نشست

¹⁵He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer,

¹⁵ و به آنان فرمود: «چقدر مشتاق بودم كه پیش از مرگم این فصح را با شما بخورم.

¹⁶ for I tell you, I will no longer by any means eat of it until it is fulfilled in the Kingdom of God.”

¹⁶ به شما می‌گویم تا آن زمان كه این فصح در پادشاهی خدا به كمال مقصود خود نرسد دیگر از آن نخواهم خورد.»

¹⁷He received a cup, and when he had given thanks, he said, “Take this, and share it among yourselves,

¹⁷ بعد پیاله‌ای به دست گرفت و پس از شكرگزاری گفت: «این را بگیرید و بین خودتان تقسیم كنید،

¹⁸ for I tell you, I will not drink at all again from the fruit of the vine, until the Kingdom of God comes.”

¹⁸ چون به شما می‌گویم از این لحظه تا آن زمان كه پادشاهی خدا فرا می‌رسد من دیگر شراب نخواهم خورد.»

¹⁹He took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and gave to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in memory of me.”

¹⁹ همچنین كمی نان برداشت و پس از شكرگزاری آ‌ن ‌را پاره كرد و به آنان داد و فرمود: «این بدن من است كه برای شما تسلیم می‌شود. این كار را به یادبود من انجام دهید.»

²⁰Likewise, he took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

²⁰ به همین ترتیب بعد از شام پیاله‌ای را به آنان داد و فرمود: «با خون خود كه برای شما ریخته می‌شود پیمان تازه‌ای بسته‌ام و این پیاله نشانهٔ آن است.

²¹ But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.

²¹ «امّا بدانید كه دست تسلیم كنندهٔ من با دست من در سفره است.

²² The Son of Man indeed goes, as it has been determined, but woe to that man through whom he is betrayed!”

²² البتّه پسر انسان چنانکه مقدّر است به سوی سرنوشت خود می‌رود، امّا وای به حال آن کسی‌که به دست او تسلیم می‌شود.»

²³They began to question among themselves, which of them it was who would do this thing.

²³ آنان از خودشان شروع به سؤال كردند كه کدام‌یک از آنها چنین كاری خواهد كرد.

²⁴There arose also a contention among them, which of them was considered to be greatest.

²⁴ در میان شاگردان بحثی درگرفت كه کدام‌یک در میان آنان از همه بزرگتر محسوب می‌شود.

²⁵He said to them, “The kings of the nations lord it over them, and those who have authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’

²⁵ عیسی فرمود: «در میان ملل بیگانه، پادشاهان بر مردم حکمرانی می‌كنند و صاحبان قدرت 'ولی ‌نعمت' خوانده می‌شوند،

²⁶ But not so with you. But one who is the greater among you, let him become as the younger, and one who is governing, as one who serves.

²⁶ امّا شما این‌طور نباشید، برعکس، بزرگترین شخص در میان شما باید به صورت كوچكترین درآید و رئیس باید مثل نوكر باشد،

²⁷ For who is greater, one who sits at the table, or one who serves? Isn’t it he who sits at the table? But I am in the midst of you as one who serves.

²⁷ زیرا چه كسی بزرگتر است-آن کسی‌که بر سر سفره می‌نشیند، یا آن نوكری كه خدمت می‌كند؟ یقیناً آن کسی‌که بر سر سفره می‌نشیند. با وجود این من در میان شما مثل یک خدمتگزار هستم.

²⁸ But you are those who have continued with me in my trials.

²⁸ «شما كسانی هستید كه در آزمایشهای سخت من با من بوده‌اید.

²⁹ I confer on you a kingdom, even as my Father conferred on me,

²⁹ همان‌طور كه پدر، حق سلطنت را به من سپرد، من هم به شما می‌سپارم.

³⁰ that you may eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom. You will sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”

³⁰ شما در پادشاهی من سر سفرهٔ من خواهید خورد و خواهید نوشید و به عنوان داوران دوازده طایفهٔ اسرائیل بر تختها خواهید نشست.

³¹The Lord said, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat,

³¹ «ای شمعون، ای شمعون، توجّه كن: شیطان خواست مِثل دهقانی كه گندم را از كاه جدا می‌كند همهٔ شما را بیازماید.

³² but I prayed for you, that your faith wouldn’t fail. You, when once you have turned again, establish your brothers The word for “brothers” here may be also correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” .”

³² امّا من برای تو دعا كرده‌ام كه ایمانت از بین نرود و وقتی برگشتی باید برادرانت را استوار گردانی.»

³³He said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!”

³³ شمعون جواب داد: «ای خداوند، من حاضرم با تو به زندان بیفتم و با تو بمیرم.»

³⁴He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will by no means crow today until you deny that you know me three times.”

³⁴ عیسی فرمود: «ای پطرس، آگاه باش، امروز قبل از آنکه خروس بانگ بزند تو سه بار خواهی گفت كه مرا نمی‌شناسی.»

³⁵He said to them, “When I sent you out without purse, and wallet, and shoes, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.”

³⁵ عیسی به ایشان فرمود: «وقتی شما را بدون كفش و كیسه و كوله‌بار روانه كردم آیا چیزی كم داشتید؟» جواب دادند: «خیر.»

³⁶Then he said to them, “But now, whoever has a purse, let him take it, and likewise a wallet. Whoever has none, let him sell his cloak, and buy a sword.

³⁶ به ایشان گفت: «امّا حالا هرکه یک كیسه دارد بهتر است كه آن را با خود بردارد و همین‌طور كوله‌بارش را و چنانچه شمشیر ندارد قبای خود را بفروشد و شمشیری بخرد،

³⁷ For I tell you that this which is written must still be fulfilled in me: ‘He was counted with transgressors.’ Isaiah 53:12 For that which concerns me has an end.”

³⁷ چون می‌خواهم بدانید كه این پیشگویی کتاب‌مقدّس كه می‌گوید: 'او در گروه جنایتكاران به حساب آمد'، باید در مورد من به انجام برسد و در واقع همه‌چیزهایی كه دربارهٔ من نوشته شده در حال انجام است.»

³⁸They said, “Lord, behold, here are two swords.” He said to them, “That is enough.”

³⁸ آنها گفتند: «خداوندا، نگاه‌ كن، اینجا دو شمشیر داریم.» ولی او جواب داد: «كافی است.»

³⁹He came out, and went, as his custom was, to the Mount of Olives. His disciples also followed him.

³⁹ عیسی بیرون آمد و طبق معمول رهسپار كوه زیتون شد و شاگردانش همراه او بودند.

⁴⁰When he was at the place, he said to them, “Pray that you don’t enter into temptation.”

⁴⁰ وقتی به آن محل رسید به آنان فرمود: «دعا كنید كه از وسوسه‌ها دور بمانید.»

⁴¹He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and he knelt down and prayed,

⁴¹ عیسی به اندازهٔ پرتاب یک سنگ از آنان فاصله گرفت، زانو زد و چنین دعا كرد:

⁴²saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”

⁴² «ای پدر، اگر ارادهٔ توست، این پیاله را از من دور كن. امّا نه ارادهٔ من بلكه ارادهٔ تو به انجام برسد.»

⁴³An angel from heaven appeared to him, strengthening him.

⁴³ فرشته‌ای از آسمان به او ظاهر شد و او را تقویت كرد.

⁴⁴Being in agony he prayed more earnestly. His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down on the ground.

⁴⁴ عیسی در شدّت اضطراب و با حرارت بیشتری دعا كرد و عرق او مثل قطره‌های خون بر زمین می‌چکید.

⁴⁵When he rose up from his prayer, he came to the disciples, and found them sleeping because of grief,

⁴⁵ وقتی از دعا برخاست و پیش شاگردان آمد، آنان را دید كه در اثر غم و اندوه به خواب رفته بودند.

⁴⁶and said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

⁴⁶ به ایشان فرمود: «خواب هستید؟ برخیزید و دعا كنید تا از وسوسه‌‌ها دور بمانید.»

⁴⁷While he was still speaking, behold, a multitude, and he who was called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He came near to Jesus to kiss him.

⁴⁷ عیسی هنوز صحبت می‌كرد كه جمعیّتی دیده شد و یهودا، یكی از آن دوازده حواری، پیشاپیش آنان بود. یهودا پیش عیسی آمد تا او را ببوسد.

⁴⁸But Jesus said to him, “Judas, do you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?”

⁴⁸ امّا عیسی به او فرمود: «ای یهودا، آیا پسر انسان را با بوسه تسلیم می‌کنی؟»

⁴⁹When those who were around him saw what was about to happen, they said to him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”

⁴⁹ وقتی پیروان او آنچه را كه در جریان بود دیدند گفتند: «خداوندا، شمشیرهایمان را بكار ببریم؟»

⁵⁰A certain one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

⁵⁰ و یكی از آنان به غلام كاهن اعظم زد و گوش راستش را برید.

⁵¹But Jesus answered, “Let me at least do this” —and he touched his ear, and healed him.

⁵¹ امّا عیسی جواب داد: «دست نگه‌دارید.» و گوش آن مرد را لمس كرد و شفا داد.

⁵²Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and elders, who had come against him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs?

⁵² سپس عیسی به سران كاهنان و افسرانی كه مسئول نگهبانی از معبد بزرگ بودند و مشایخی كه برای گرفتن او آمده بودند فرمود: «مگر من یاغی هستم كه با شمشیر و چماق برای دستگیری من آمده‌اید؟

⁵³ When I was with you in the temple daily, you didn’t stretch out your hands against me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”

⁵³ من هر روز در معبد بزرگ با شما بودم و شما دست به‌ طرف من دراز نكردید. امّا این ساعت كه تاریكی حكمفرماست، ساعت شماست.»

⁵⁴They seized him, and led him away, and brought him into the high priest’s house. But Peter followed from a distance.

⁵⁴ عیسی را دستگیر كردند و به خانهٔ كاهن اعظم آوردند. پطرس از دور به دنبال آنها می‌آمد.

⁵⁵When they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard, and had sat down together, Peter sat among them.

⁵⁵ در وسط محوطهٔ خانهٔ كاهن اعظم عدّه‌ای آتشی روشن كرده و دور آن نشسته بودند. پطرس نیز در بین آنان نشست.

⁵⁶A certain servant girl saw him as he sat in the light, and looking intently at him, said, “This man also was with him.”

⁵⁶ درحالی‌که او در روشنایی آتش نشسته بود كنیزی او را دید و به او خیره شده گفت: «این مرد هم با عیسی بود.»

⁵⁷He denied Jesus, saying, “Woman, I don’t know him.”

⁵⁷ امّا پطرس منكر شد و گفت: «ای زن، من او را نمی‌شناسم.»

⁵⁸After a little while someone else saw him, and said, “You also are one of them!” But Peter answered, “Man, I am not!”

⁵⁸ كمی بعد یک نفر دیگر متوجّه او شد و گفت: «تو هم یكی از آنها هستی.» امّا پطرس به او گفت: «ای مرد، من نیستم.»

⁵⁹After about one hour passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, “Truly this man also was with him, for he is a Galilean!”

⁵⁹ تقریباً یک ساعت گذشت و یكی دیگر با تأكید بیشتری گفت: «البتّه این مرد هم با او بوده چونكه جلیلی است.»

⁶⁰But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you are talking about!” Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.

⁶⁰ امّا پطرس گفت: «ای مرد، من نمی‌دانم تو چه می‌گویی.» درحالی‌که او هنوز صحبت می‌کرد، بانگ خروس برخاست

⁶¹The Lord turned, and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the Lord’s word, how he said to him, “Before the rooster crows you will deny me three times.”

⁶¹ و عیسی خداوند برگشت و مستقیماً به پطرس نگاه كرد و پطرس سخنان خداوند را به‌خاطر آورد كه به او گفته بود: «امروز پیش از اینکه خروس بانگ بزند تو سه بار خواهی گفت كه مرا نمی‌شناسی.»

⁶²He went out, and wept bitterly.

⁶² پطرس بیرون رفت و زارزار گریست.

⁶³The men who held Jesus mocked him and beat him.

⁶³ کسانی‌که عیسی را تحت نظر داشتند او را مسخره كردند، كتک زدند،

⁶⁴Having blindfolded him, they struck him on the face and asked him, “Prophesy! Who is the one who struck you?”

⁶⁴ چشمانش را بستند و می‌گفتند: «حالا از غیب ‌بگو كه تو را می‌زند!»

⁶⁵They spoke many other things against him, insulting him.

⁶⁵ و به این طرز به او اهانت می‌كردند.

⁶⁶As soon as it was day, the assembly of the elders of the people was gathered together, both chief priests and scribes, and they led him away into their council, saying,

⁶⁶ همین‌که هوا روشن شد مشایخ قوم، سران كاهنان و علمای یهود تشكیل جلسه دادند و عیسی را به حضور شورا آوردند

⁶⁷“If you are the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you won’t believe,

⁶⁷ و گفتند: «به ما بگو آیا تو مسیح هستی؟» عیسی جواب داد: «اگر به شما بگویم، گفتهٔ مرا باور نخواهید كرد

⁶⁸ and if I ask, you will in no way answer me or let me go.

⁶⁸ و اگر سؤال بكنم، جواب نمی‌دهید.

⁶⁹ From now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”

⁶⁹ امّا از این به بعد پسر انسان به دست راست خدای قادر خواهد نشست» همگی گفتند: «پس پسر خدا هستی؟»

⁷⁰They all said, “Are you then the Son of God?” He said to them, “You say it, because I am.”

⁷⁰ عیسی جواب داد: «خودتان می‌گویید كه هستم.» آنها گفتند: «چه احتیاجی به شاهدان دیگر هست؟ ما موضوع را از زبان خودش شنیدیم.»

⁷¹They said, “Why do we need any more witness? For we ourselves have heard from his own mouth!”

⁷¹ آنها گفتند: «چه احتیاجی به شاهدان دیگر هست؟ ما موضوع را از زبان خودش شنیدیم.»
