¹He arose from there and came into the borders of Judea and beyond the Jordan. Multitudes came together to him again. As he usually did, he was again teaching them.

¹ عیسی از آنجا به راه افتاد و به سرزمین یهودیه و به جانب شرقی رود اردن رفت. باز هم جمعیّتی به دور او جمع شد و او بر حسب عادت همیشگی خود به تعلیم آنان پرداخت.

²Pharisees came to him testing him, and asked him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?”

² عدّه‌ای از فریسیان پیش او آمدند و برای امتحان از او پرسیدند: «آیا مرد مجاز است كه زن خود را طلاق بدهد؟»

³He answered, “What did Moses command you?”

³ عیسی در جواب، از آنها پرسید: «موسی در این باره چه دستوری داده است؟»

⁴They said, “Moses allowed a certificate of divorce to be written, and to divorce her.”

⁴ آنها جواب دادند: «موسی اجازه داده است كه مرد با دادن طلاق‌نامه به زن خود، از او جدا شود.»

⁵But Jesus said to them, “For your hardness of heart, he wrote you this commandment.

⁵ عیسی به ایشان فرمود: «به‌خاطر سنگدلی شما بود كه موسی این اجازه را به شما داد.

⁶ But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female. Genesis 1:27

⁶ وگرنه خدا از اول خلقت، انسان را به صورت مرد و زن آفرید.

⁷ For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will join to his wife,

⁷ به این دلیل مرد، پدر و مادر خود را ترک می‌کند و به زن خود می‌پیوندد

⁸ and the two will become one flesh, Genesis 2:24 so that they are no longer two, but one flesh.

⁸ و این دو یک تن واحد می‌شوند. یعنی دیگر آنها دو نفر نیستند، بلكه یک تن می‌باشند.

⁹ What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”

⁹ آنچه را خدا به هم پیوسته است، انسان نباید جدا سازد.»

¹⁰In the house, his disciples asked him again about the same matter.

¹⁰ در منزل، شاگردان باز هم دربارهٔ این موضوع از عیسی سؤال كردند.

¹¹He said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife, and marries another, commits adultery against her.

¹¹ او به ایشان فرمود: «هرکه زن خود را طلاق دهد و با زنی دیگر ازدواج كند، نسبت به زن خود مرتكب زنا شده است.

¹² If a woman herself divorces her husband, and marries another, she commits adultery.”

¹² همین‌طور اگر زنی از شوهر خود جدا شود و با مرد دیگری ازدواج كند، مرتكب زنا شده است.»

¹³They were bringing to him little children, that he should touch them, but the disciples rebuked those who were bringing them.

¹³ بچّه‌‌ها را پیش عیسی می‌آوردند تا بر آنها دست بگذارد ولی شاگردان، آنها را سرزنش می‌کردند.

¹⁴But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation, and said to them, “Allow the little children to come to me! Don’t forbid them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

¹⁴ وقتی عیسی این را دید ناراحت شده به شاگردان فرمود: «بگذارید بچّه‌‌ها پیش من بیایند، مانع آنها نشوید چون پادشاهی خدا به چنین كسانی تعلّق دارد.

¹⁵ Most certainly I tell you, whoever will not receive the Kingdom of God like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.”

¹⁵ یقین بدانید كه اگر كسی پادشاهی خدا را مانند كودک نپذیرد، هیچ‌وقت وارد آن نخواهد شد.»

¹⁶He took them in his arms, and blessed them, laying his hands on them.

¹⁶ سپس عیسی كودكان را در آغوش گرفت و دست بر آنان گذاشته، برای ایشان دعای خیر كرد.

¹⁷As he was going out into the way, one ran to him, knelt before him, and asked him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?”

¹⁷ وقتی عیسی عازم سفر شد، شخصی دوان‌دوان آمده در برابر او زانو زد و عرض كرد: «ای استاد نیكو، من برای به دست آوردن حیات جاودانی چه باید بكنم؟»

¹⁸Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except one—God.

¹⁸ عیسی به او فرمود: «چرا مرا نیكو می‌خوانی؟ هیچ‌کس جز خدا نیكو نیست.

¹⁹ You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not give false testimony,’ ‘Do not defraud,’ ‘Honor your father and mother.’” Exodus 20:12-16; Deuteronomy 5:16-20

¹⁹ احكام را می‌دانی -‌قتل نكن، زنا نكن، دزدی نكن، شهادت نادرست نده، كلاهبرداری نكن، پدر و مادر خود را احترام كن.»

²⁰He said to him, “Teacher, I have observed all these things from my youth.”

²⁰ آن شخص در جواب گفت: «ای استاد، من از جوانی همهٔ اینها را رعایت کرده‌ام.»

²¹Jesus looking at him loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack. Go, sell whatever you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me, taking up the cross.”

²¹ عیسی با محبّت به او خیره شده فرمود: «یک چیز كم داری، برو آنچه داری بفروش و به فقرا بده كه در عالم بالا گنجی خواهی داشت و بعد بیا و از من پیروی كن.»

²²But his face fell at that saying, and he went away sorrowful, for he was one who had great possessions.

²² آن شخص چون صاحب ثروت فراوان بود، با قیافه‌ای محزون، و با ناراحتی از آنجا رفت.

²³Jesus looked around, and said to his disciples, “How difficult it is for those who have riches to enter into the Kingdom of God!”

²³ عیسی به اطراف نگاه كرد و به شاگردان فرمود: «چه دشوار است ورود توانگران به پادشاهی خدا!»

²⁴The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus answered again, “Children, how hard is it for those who trust in riches to enter into the Kingdom of God!

²⁴ شاگردان از سخنان او تعجّب كردند، امّا عیسی باز هم به آنان فرمود: «ای فرزندان، وارد شدن به پادشاهی خدا چقدر دشوار است!

²⁵ It is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God.”

²⁵ رد شدن شتر از سوراخ سوزن، آسانتر است از وارد شدن شخص توانگر به پادشاهی خدا.»

²⁶They were exceedingly astonished, saying to him, “Then who can be saved?”

²⁶ شاگردان بی‌اندازه تعجّب كرده و به یكدیگر می‌گفتند: «پس چه كسی می‌تواند نجات یابد؟»

²⁷Jesus, looking at them, said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God.”

²⁷ عیسی به آنان نگاهی كرد و فرمود: «برای انسان غیرممكن است، امّا نه برای خدا، زیرا برای خدا همه‌چیز امكان دارد.»

²⁸Peter began to tell him, “Behold, we have left all, and have followed you.”

²⁸ پطرس در جواب عیسی شروع به صحبت كرده گفت: «ببین، ما از همه‌چیز خود دست كشیده و پیرو تو شده‌ایم.»

²⁹Jesus said, “Most certainly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or land, for my sake, and for the sake of the Good News,

²⁹ عیسی فرمود: «یقین بدانید كه هرکس به‌خاطر من و انجیل، خانه و یا برادران یا خواهران یا مادر یا پدر یا فرزندان و یا املاک خود را ترک نماید،

³⁰ but he will receive one hundred times more now in this time, houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and land, with persecutions; and in the age to come eternal life.

³⁰ در این دنیا صد برابر خانه و برادر و خواهر، مادر و فرزندان و املاک -‌و همچنین رنجها- و در آخرت حیات جاودان نصیب او خواهد شد.

³¹ But many who are first will be last; and the last first.”

³¹ امّا بسیاری از آنان كه اكنون اولین هستند، آخرین خواهند شد و بسیاری هم كه آخرین هستند، اولین خواهند شد.»

³²They were on the way, going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus was going in front of them, and they were amazed; and those who followed were afraid. He again took the twelve, and began to tell them the things that were going to happen to him.

³² عیسی و شاگردان در راه اورشلیم بودند و عیسی پیشاپیش شاگردان حركت می‌کرد. شاگردان متحیّر بودند و کسانی‌که از عقب آنها می‌آمدند، بسیار می‌ترسیدند. عیسی دوازده شاگرد خود را به كناری برد و دربارهٔ آنچه كه می‌باید برایش اتّفاق افتد، با آنها شروع به صحبت كرد

³³ “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes. They will condemn him to death, and will deliver him to the Gentiles.

³³ و به آنها فرمود: «ما اكنون به اورشلیم می‌رویم و پسر انسان به دست سران كاهنان و علما سپرده خواهد شد. آنها او را محكوم به مرگ خواهند كرد و به دست بیگانگان خواهند سپرد.

³⁴ They will mock him, spit on him, scourge him, and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.”

³⁴ آنها او را مسخره خواهند نمود و به رویش آب دهان خواهند انداخت، او را تازیانه خواهند زد و خواهند كشت، امّا پس از سه روز دوباره زنده خواهد شد.»

³⁵James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came near to him, saying, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we will ask.”

³⁵ یعقوب و یوحنا -‌پسران زِبدی‌- پیش عیسی آمده گفتند: «ای استاد، ما می‌خواهیم كه آنچه كه از تو درخواست می‌کنیم برای ما انجام دهی.»

³⁶He said to them, “What do you want me to do for you?”

³⁶ به ایشان گفت: «چه می‌خواهید برایتان بكنم؟»

³⁷They said to him, “Grant to us that we may sit, one at your right hand, and one at your left hand, in your glory.”

³⁷ آنها جواب دادند: «به ما اجازه بده تا در جلال تو یكی در دست راست و دیگری در دست چپ تو بنشینیم.»

³⁸But Jesus said to them, “You don’t know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?”

³⁸ عیسی به ایشان فرمود: «شما نمی‌فهمید چه می‌خواهید. آیا می‌توانید از پیاله‌ای كه من می‌نوشم بنوشید و یا تعمیدی را كه من می‌گیرم بگیرید؟»

³⁹They said to him, “We are able.” Jesus said to them, “You shall indeed drink the cup that I drink, and you shall be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with;

³⁹ آنها جواب دادند: «می‌توانیم.» عیسی فرمود: «از پیاله‌ای كه من می‌نوشم، خواهید نوشید و تعمیدی را كه من می‌گیرم، شما هم خواهید گرفت.

⁴⁰ but to sit at my right hand and at my left hand is not mine to give, but for whom it has been prepared.”

⁴⁰ امّا نشستن در دست راست و یا چپ من با من نیست. این به كسانی تعلّق دارد كه از پیش برایشان تعیین شده است.»

⁴¹When the ten heard it, they began to be indignant towards James and John.

⁴¹ وقتی ده شاگرد دیگر این را شنیدند از یعقوب و یوحنا دلگیر شدند.

⁴²Jesus summoned them, and said to them, “You know that they who are recognized as rulers over the nations lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.

⁴² عیسی ایشان را پیش خود خواند و فرمود: «می‌دانید كه در بین ملل، کسانی‌که فرمانروا محسوب می‌شوند، بر زیردستان خود فرمانروایی می‌کنند و رهبرانشان نیز بر آنها ریاست می‌نمایند

⁴³ But it shall not be so among you, but whoever wants to become great among you shall be your servant.

⁴³ ولی در بین شما نباید چنین باشد؛ بلكه هرکه می‌خواهد در میان شما بزرگ شود، باید خادم شما باشد

⁴⁴ Whoever of you wants to become first among you, shall be bondservant of all.

⁴⁴ و هرکه می‌خواهد اول شود، باید غلام همه باشد.

⁴⁵ For the Son of Man also came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

⁴⁵ چون پسر انسان نیامده است تا خدمت کرده شود، بلكه تا به دیگران خدمت كند و جان خود را در راه بسیاری فدا سازد.»

⁴⁶They came to Jericho. As he went out from Jericho, with his disciples and a great multitude, the son of Timaeus, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the road.

⁴⁶ آنها به شهر اریحا رسیدند و وقتی عیسی به اتّفاق شاگردان خود و جمعیّت بزرگی از شهر بیرون می‌رفت، یک گدای نابینا به نام بارتیماؤس -‌پسر تیمائوس‌- در كنار راه نشسته بود.

⁴⁷When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out, and say, “Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me!”

⁴⁷ وقتی شنید كه عیسای ناصری است، شروع به فریاد كرد و گفت: «ای عیسی، پسر داوود، بر من رحم كن.»

⁴⁸Many rebuked him, that he should be quiet, but he cried out much more, “You son of David, have mercy on me!”

⁴⁸ عدّهٔ زیادی او را سرزنش كردند و از او خواستند تا ساكت شود. ولی او هرچه بلندتر فریاد می‌کرد: «ای پسر داوود، بر من رحم كن.»

⁴⁹Jesus stood still, and said, “Call him.” They called the blind man, saying to him, “Cheer up! Get up. He is calling you!”

⁴⁹ عیسی ایستاد و فرمود: «به او بگویید اینجا بیاید.» آنها آن كور را صدا كردند و به او گفتند: «خوشحال باش، بلند شو، تو را می‌خواهد.»

⁵⁰He, casting away his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus.

⁵⁰ بارتیماؤس فوراً ردای خود را به كناری انداخت و از جای خود بلند شد و پیش عیسی آمد.

⁵¹Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man said to him, “Rabboni, Rabboni is a transliteration of the Hebrew word for “great teacher.” that I may see again.”

⁵¹ عیسی به او فرمود: «چه می‌خواهی برایت بكنم؟» آن كور عرض كرد: «ای استاد می‌خواهم بار دیگر بینا شوم.» عیسی به او فرمود: «برو، ایمانت تو را شفا داده است.» او فوراً بینایی خود را بازیافت و به دنبال عیسی به راه افتاد.

⁵²Jesus said to him, “Go your way. Your faith has made you well.” Immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

⁵² عیسی به او فرمود: «برو، ایمانت تو را شفا داده است.» او فوراً بینایی خود را بازیافت و به دنبال عیسی به راه افتاد.
