¹He said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste death until they see the Kingdom of God come with power.”

¹ او همچنین فرمود: «یقین بدانید كه بعضی از کسانی‌که در اینجا ایستاده‌اند تا پادشاهی خدا را كه با قدرت می‌آید نبینند، نخواهند مرد.»

²After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John, and brought them up onto a high mountain privately by themselves, and he was changed into another form in front of them.

² شش روز بعد، عیسی پطرس و یعقوب و یوحنا را برداشت و آنها را با خود به كوه بلندی برد. او در آنجا با این شاگردان تنها بود و در حضور آنها هیئت او تغییر یافت.

³His clothing became glistening, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them.

³ و لباسهایش چنان سفید و درخشان شد كه هیچ‌کس روی زمین نمی‌تواند لباسی را آن‌قدر تمیز بشوید.

⁴Elijah and Moses appeared to them, and they were talking with Jesus.

⁴ آنگاه آنها الیاس و موسی را دیدند كه با عیسی مشغول گفت‌وگو بودند.

⁵Peter answered Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let’s make three tents: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

⁵ پطرس به عیسی گفت: «ای استاد، چقدر خوب است كه ما در اینجا هستیم. سه سایبان خواهیم ساخت، یكی برای تو و یكی برای موسی و یكی هم برای الیاس.»

⁶For he didn’t know what to say, for they were very afraid.

⁶ او درست نمی‌دانست چه می‌گوید، چون بسیار ترسیده بودند.

⁷A cloud came, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.”

⁷ در آن وقت ابری ظاهر شد و بر آنها سایه افكند. از آن ابر ندایی آمد كه می‌گفت: «این پسر عزیز من است به او گوش بدهید.»

⁸Suddenly looking around, they saw no one with them any more, except Jesus only.

⁸ آنها فوراً به اطراف نگاه كردند، امّا هیچ‌کس را ندیدند، فقط عیسی با آنان بود.

⁹As they were coming down from the mountain, he commanded them that they should tell no one what things they had seen, until after the Son of Man had risen from the dead.

⁹ وقتی آنها از كوه پایین می‌آمدند، عیسی به ایشان دستور داد كه دربارهٔ آنچه دیده‌اند تا زمانی‌كه پسر انسان پس از مرگ زنده نشود، به كسی چیزی نگویند.

¹⁰They kept this saying to themselves, questioning what the “rising from the dead” meant.

¹⁰ آنان از این دستور اطاعت كردند ولی در بین خود دربارهٔ معنی «زنده شدن پس از مرگ» به بحث پرداختند.

¹¹They asked him, saying, “Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”

¹¹ آنها از او پرسیدند: «چرا علما می‌گویند كه باید اول الیاس بیاید؟»

¹²He said to them, “Elijah indeed comes first, and restores all things. How is it written about the Son of Man, that he should suffer many things and be despised?

¹² عیسی جواب داد: «بلی، الیاس اول می‌آید تا همه‌چیز را آماده سازد، امّا چرا کتاب‌مقدّس می‌گوید كه پسر انسان باید متحمّل رنجهای بسیاری شده و خوار و خفیف شود؟

¹³ But I tell you that Elijah has come, and they have also done to him whatever they wanted to, even as it is written about him.”

¹³ به شما می‌گویم همان‌طور كه دربارهٔ الیاس نوشته شده، او آمد و مردم هرچه خواستند با او كردند.»

¹⁴Coming to the disciples, he saw a great multitude around them, and scribes questioning them.

¹⁴ وقتی آنها نزد سایر شاگردان رسیدند، جمعیّت بزرگی را دیدند كه دور آنها ایستاده‌اند و علما با ایشان مباحثه می‌کنند.

¹⁵Immediately all the multitude, when they saw him, were greatly amazed, and running to him greeted him.

¹⁵ همین‌که جمعیّت، عیسی را دیدند با تعجّب فراوان دوان‌دوان به استقبال او رفتند و به او سلام كردند.

¹⁶He asked the scribes, “What are you asking them?”

¹⁶ عیسی از شاگردان پرسید: «دربارهٔ چه چیز با آنها بحث می‌کنید؟»

¹⁷One of the multitude answered, “Teacher, I brought to you my son, who has a mute spirit;

¹⁷ مردی از میان جمعیّت گفت: «ای استاد، من پسرم را پیش تو آوردم. او گرفتار روح پلیدی شده و نمی‌تواند حرف بزند.

¹⁸and wherever it seizes him, it throws him down, and he foams at the mouth, and grinds his teeth, and wastes away. I asked your disciples to cast it out, and they weren’t able.”

¹⁸ در هرجا كه روح به او حمله می‌کند، او را به زمین می‌اندازد، دهانش كف می‌کند، دندان به هم می‌ساید و تمام بدنش خشک می‌شود. از شاگردان تو درخواست كردم آن را بیرون كنند امّا نتوانستند.»

¹⁹He answered him, “Unbelieving generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to me.”

¹⁹ عیسی به آنها گفت: «شما چقدر بی‌ایمان هستید! تا كی باید با شما باشم و تا كی باید متحمّل شما گردم؟ او را پیش من بیاورید.»

²⁰They brought him to him, and when he saw him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground, wallowing and foaming at the mouth.

²⁰ آنها آن پسر را پیش او آوردند. روح به محض اینکه عیسی را دید، پسر را دچار حملهٔ سختی ساخت. پسر بر زمین افتاد و دهانش كف كرده و دست و پا می‌زد.

²¹He asked his father, “How long has it been since this has come to him?” He said, “From childhood.

²¹ عیسی از پدر او پرسید: «چند وقت است كه این حالت برای او پیش آمده؟» پدر جواب داد: «از بچّگی.

²²Often it has cast him both into the fire and into the water, to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us, and help us.”

²² اغلب اوقات این روح او را در آب و آتش می‌انداخت به طوری که نزدیک بود او را تلف سازد. امّا اگر برایت مقدور است به ما ترحّم نموده، كمک كن.»

²³Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

²³ عیسی فرمود: «اگر بتوانی ایمان بیاوری، برای کسی‌که ایمان دارد، همه‌چیز ممكن است.»

²⁴Immediately the father of the child cried out with tears, “I believe. Help my unbelief!”

²⁴ آن پدر فوراً با صدای بلند گفت: «من ایمان دارم، ولی ایمانم كم است. آن را زیاد گردان.»

²⁵When Jesus saw that a multitude came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to him, “You mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him, and never enter him again!”

²⁵ وقتی عیسی دید كه مردم جمع می‌شوند، با پرخاش به روح پلید فرمود: «ای روح كر و لال، به تو فرمان می‌دهم كه از او بیرون بیایی و هیچ‌وقت به او داخل نشوی.»

²⁶Having cried out, and convulsed greatly, it came out of him. The boy became like one dead; so much that most of them said, “He is dead.”

²⁶ آن روح نعره‌ای زد و پسر را به تشنّج انداخت و از او بیرون آمد و رنگ آن پسر مانند رنگ مرده شد، به طوری که عدّه‌ای می‌گفتند: «او مرده است.»

²⁷But Jesus took him by the hand, and raised him up; and he arose.

²⁷ امّا عیسی دستش را گرفت و او را بلند كرد و او سرپا ایستاد.

²⁸When he had come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we cast it out?”

²⁸ عیسی به خانه رفت و شاگردانش در خلوت از او پرسیدند: «چرا ما نتوانستیم آن روح را بیرون كنیم؟»

²⁹He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing, except by prayer and fasting.”

²⁹ عیسی فرمود: «برای بیرون كردن این‌گونه ارواح، وسیله‌ای جز دعا وجود ندارد.»

³⁰They went out from there, and passed through Galilee. He didn’t want anyone to know it.

³⁰ عیسی و شاگردان آن ناحیه را ترک كردند و از راه استان جلیل به سفر خود ادامه دادند. عیسی نمی‌خواست كسی بداند او كجاست

³¹For he was teaching his disciples, and said to them, “The Son of Man is being handed over to the hands of men, and they will kill him; and when he is killed, on the third day he will rise again.”

³¹ زیرا به شاگردان خود تعلیم داده می‌گفت كه پسر انسان به دست آدمیان تسلیم می‌شود و آنان او را خواهند كشت ولی سه روز بعد، دوباره زنده خواهد شد.

³²But they didn’t understand the saying, and were afraid to ask him.

³² امّا آنها نمی‌فهمیدند چه می‌گوید و می‌ترسیدند از او چیزی بپرسند.

³³He came to Capernaum, and when he was in the house he asked them, “What were you arguing among yourselves on the way?”

³³ آنها به كفرناحوم آمدند و وقتی در منزل بودند عیسی از شاگردان پرسید: «بین راه دربارهٔ چه چیزی مباحثه می‌کردید؟»

³⁴But they were silent, for they had disputed one with another on the way about who was the greatest.

³⁴ آنها ساكت ماندند، چون در بین راه، صحبت ایشان بر سر این بود كه در میان آنها چه كسی بزرگتر است.

³⁵He sat down, and called the twelve; and he said to them, “If any man wants to be first, he shall be last of all, and servant of all.”

³⁵ او نشست و دوازده حواری را پیش خود خواند و به ایشان فرمود: «اگر كسی می‌خواهد اول شود، باید خود را آخرین و غلام همه سازد.»

³⁶He took a little child, and set him in their midst. Taking him in his arms, he said to them,

³⁶ سپس كودكی را گرفت و او را در برابر همه قرار داد و بعد او را در آغوش گرفته فرمود:

³⁷ “Whoever receives one such little child in my name, receives me, and whoever receives me, doesn’t receive me, but him who sent me.”

³⁷ «هرکه یكی از این كودكان را به نام من بپذیرد، مرا پذیرفته است و هرکه مرا بپذیرد، نه تنها مرا بلكه فرستنده مرا پذیرفته است.»

³⁸John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone who doesn’t follow us casting out demons in your name; and we forbade him, because he doesn’t follow us.”

³⁸ یوحنا عرض كرد: «ای استاد، ما مردی را دیدیم كه دیوها را با ذكر نام تو بیرون می‌کرد، امّا چون از ما نبود، سعی كردیم مانع او شویم.»

³⁹But Jesus said, “Don’t forbid him, for there is no one who will do a mighty work in my name, and be able quickly to speak evil of me.

³⁹ عیسی فرمود: «مانع كار او نشوید، زیرا هرکه با ذكر نام من معجزه‌ای بكند، نمی‌تواند در همان‌ دَم از من بد بگوید.

⁴⁰ For whoever is not against us is on our side.

⁴⁰ چون هرکه برضد ما نباشد با ماست.

⁴¹ For whoever will give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because you are Christ’s, most certainly I tell you, he will in no way lose his reward.

⁴¹ یقین بدانید هرکه به شما به‌خاطر اینکه پیروان مسیح هستید، جرعه‌ای آب بدهد، به هیچ وجه بی‌اجر نخواهد ماند.

⁴² Whoever will cause one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if he were thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around his neck.

⁴² «امّا هر کسی یكی از این كوچكان را كه به من ایمان دارند گمراه سازد، برای او بهتر است كه با سنگ آسیایی به دور گردن خود، به دریا انداخته شود.

⁴³ If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having your two hands to go into Gehenna, or, Hell into the unquenchable fire,

⁴³ پس اگر دستت باعث گمراهی تو می‌شود، آن را ببر، زیرا بهتر است بدون دست وارد حیات شوی از اینکه با دو دست به جهنم بیافتی یعنی به آتشی كه خاموشی نمی‌پذیرد. [

⁴⁴ ‘where their worm doesn’t die, and the fire is not quenched.’

⁴⁴ جایی‌که كرم ایشان نمیرد و آتش خاموش نشود.]

⁴⁵ If your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life lame, rather than having your two feet to be cast into Gehenna, or, Hell into the fire that will never be quenched—

⁴⁵ و اگر پایت تو را گمراه كند، آن را ببر، زیرا بهتر است كه لنگ وارد حیات شوی از اینکه با دو پا به جهنم انداخته شوی. [

⁴⁶ ‘where their worm doesn’t die, and the fire is not quenched.’

⁴⁶ جایی‌که كرم ایشان نمیرد و آتش خاموش نشود.]

⁴⁷ If your eye causes you to stumble, cast it out. It is better for you to enter into the Kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the Gehenna or, Hell of fire,

⁴⁷ و اگر چشمت تو را منحرف سازد آن را در آور، زیرا بهتر است كه با یک چشم وارد پادشاهی خدا شوی از اینکه با دو چشم به جهنم بیافتی.

⁴⁸ ‘where their worm doesn’t die, and the fire is not quenched.’ Isaiah 66:24

⁴⁸ جایی‌که كرم ایشان نمیرد و آتش خاموش نشود.

⁴⁹ For everyone will be salted with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt.

⁴⁹ «چون همه با آتش نمكین می‌شوند. نمک چیز خوبی است، امّا اگر مزهٔ خود را از دست بدهد، دیگر به چه وسیله می‌تواند مزهٔ خود را باز یابد؟ پس شما نیز در خود نمک داشته باشید و با یكدیگر در صلح و صفا زندگی كنید.»

⁵⁰ Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, with what will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”

⁵⁰ نمک چیز خوبی است، امّا اگر مزهٔ خود را از دست بدهد، دیگر به چه وسیله می‌تواند مزهٔ خود را باز یابد؟ پس شما نیز در خود نمک داشته باشید و با یكدیگر در صلح و صفا زندگی كنید.»
