¹One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and spoke with me, saying, “Come here. I will show you the judgment of the great prostitute who sits on many waters,

¹ آنگاه یكی از آن هفت فرشته‌ای كه جام به دست داشت، آمد و با من صحبت كرد. او گفت: «بیا، تا مجازات آن فاحشهٔ بزرگ را كه در كنار رودخانه‌های بسیار قرار دارد به تو نشان دهم.

²with whom the kings of the earth committed sexual immorality, and those who dwell in the earth were made drunken with the wine of her sexual immorality.”

² پادشاهان زمین با او زنا کرده‌اند و مردم سراسر جهان از نوشیدنِ شرابِ زناكاریِ او، خود را مست ساخته‌اند.»

³He carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness. I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet-colored animal, full of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns.

³ آن فرشته، مرا در روح به بیابان برد و در آنجا زنی را دیدم كه بر حیوان وحشی سرخ رنگی سوار بود. بدن این حیوان، از نامهای کفرآمیز پوشیده و دارای هفت سر و ده شاخ بود.

⁴The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of the sexual immorality of the earth.

⁴ آن زن لباس ارغوانی و سرخ دربر داشت و با طلا و جواهرات و مروارید آراسته شده بود. او در دست خود جام زرّینی داشت كه از فجور و كثافات زنای او پر بود.

⁵And on her forehead a name was written, “MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF THE PROSTITUTES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”

⁵ بر پیشانیش این اسمِ مرموز نوشته شده بود: «بابل بزرگ، مادر فواحش و تمام كثافات روی زمین.»

⁶I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. When I saw her, I wondered with great amazement.

⁶ من دیدم كه آن زن از خون مقدّسین و خون شاهدان عیسی سرمست بود. همین‌که به او نگاه كردم، سخت در شگفت شدم.

⁷The angel said to me, “Why do you wonder? I will tell you the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns.

⁷ امّا آن فرشته به من گفت: «چرا این‌قدر تعجّب كردی؟ من راز آن زن و راز آن حیوان وحشی را كه دارای هفت سر و ده شاخ است و او بر آن سوار است به تو می‌گویم.

⁸The beast that you saw was, and is not; and is about to come up out of the abyss and to go into destruction. Those who dwell on the earth and whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel when they see that the beast was, and is not, and shall be present. TR reads “yet is” instead of “shall be present”

⁸ آن حیوان كه زمانی زنده بود و دیگر زنده نیست، بزودی از چاه بی‌انتها بیرون می‌آید و به سوی هلاكت خواهد رفت. از میان مردمان روی زمین آنانی كه نامهایشان پیش از پیدایش جهان در دفتر حیات نوشته نشده بود، از دیدن این حیوان تعجّب خواهند كرد، زیرا او زنده بود ولی دیگر زنده نیست امّا باز هم خواهد آمد.

⁹Here is the mind that has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sits.

⁹ این به حكمت و فهم نیاز دارد. آن هفت سر، هفت تپّه‌ای است كه زن بر آن می‌نشیند و همچنین هفت پادشاه است

¹⁰They are seven kings. Five have fallen, the one is, the other has not yet come. When he comes, he must continue a little while.

¹⁰ كه پنج نفر از آنها از سلطنت بر كنار شده‌اند و یكی هم اكنون فرمانروایی می‌کند و آن هفتمی هنوز نیامده است و هر وقت بیاید، فقط مدّت كوتاهی دوام خواهد آورد.

¹¹The beast that was, and is not, is himself also an eighth, and is of the seven; and he goes to destruction.

¹¹ امّا آن حیوان وحشی كه زمانی زنده بود و دیگر زنده نیست، هشتمی است و با وجود آن، یكی از آن هفت نفر می‌باشد و به سوی هلاكت می‌رود.

¹²The ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority as kings, with the beast, for one hour.

¹² ده شاخی كه دیدی، ده پادشاه هستند كه هنوز به سلطنت نرسیده‌اند امّا به آنان اختیار داده می‌شود كه به مدّت یک ساعت در سلطنت آن حیوان وحشی سهیم باشند.

¹³These have one mind, and they give their power and authority to the beast.

¹³ زیرا هدف همهٔ آنها یكی است و قدرت و اختیارات خود را به حیوان وحشی می‌بخشند.

¹⁴These will war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings. They also will overcome who are with him, called and chosen and faithful.”

¹⁴ آنها با برّه جنگ خواهند كرد، امّا برّه پیروز خواهد شد، زیرا اوست خداوند خداوندان و شاه شاهان و همراهان او كه 'برگزیده و وفادار' خوانده شده‌اند، در پیروزی او شریک خواهند بود.»

¹⁵He said to me, “The waters which you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and languages.

¹⁵ آنگاه آن فرشته به من گفت: «در جایی‌که فاحشه ساكن است، آن آبهایی كه دیدی نشانهٔ قومها و جمعیّت‌ها و ملّتها و زبانها می‌باشند.

¹⁶The ten horns which you saw, and the beast, these will hate the prostitute, and will make her desolate, and will make her naked, and will eat her flesh, and will burn her utterly with fire.

¹⁶ آن ده شاخی كه دیدی، با آن حیوان وحشی دشمن فاحشه خواهند شد و او را عریان و ویران خواهند ساخت. گوشت تنش را خواهند خورد و او را در آتش خواهند سوزانید.

¹⁷For God has put in their hearts to do what he has in mind, and to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God should be accomplished.

¹⁷ زیرا خدا در دلهای آنها نهاده كه مقصود او را اجرا نمایند. پس هم ر‌أی شدند و سلطنت خود را در اختیار حیوان وحشی قرار دادند تا آنچه را که خدا فرموده است، به كمال رسانند. آن زنی كه دیدی، شهر بزرگ است كه بر پادشاهان جهان تسلّط دارد.»

¹⁸The woman whom you saw is the great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth.”
