¹After these things, I saw another angel coming down out of the sky, having great authority. The earth was illuminated with his glory.

¹ سپس فرشته‌ای را دیدم كه از آسمان به زیر می‌آمد. او با اقتدار و اختیار عظیم آمد و زمین از شكوه و جلال او روشن شد.

²He cried with a mighty voice, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, and she has become a habitation of demons, a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird!

² آنگاه با صدایی بلند گفت: «بابل سقوط كرده است! بابل بزرگ سقوط كرده است! بابل، مسكن دیوها، و مکان ارواح خبیث و قفس پرندگان نجس و نفرت‌انگیز شده است،

³For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her sexual immorality, the kings of the earth committed sexual immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from the abundance of her luxury.”

³ زیرا همهٔ ملل از شراب آتشین زنای او نوشیده‌اند. شاهان زمین با او زنا کرده‌اند و بازرگانان جهان از زیادی عیّاشی او توانگر شده‌اند.»

⁴I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “Come out of her, my people, that you have no participation in her sins, and that you don’t receive of her plagues,

⁴ آنگاه صدای دیگری از آسمان شنیدم كه می‌گفت: «از او بیرون آیید. ای قوم من، مبادا در گناهان او سهیم شوید و در بلاهایش شریک گردید!

⁵for her sins have reached to the sky, and God has remembered her iniquities.

⁵ زیرا گناهان او تا به فلک انباشته شده و خدا تبهكاری‌هایش را از یاد نبرده است.

⁶Return to her just as she returned, and repay her double as she did, and according to her works. In the cup which she mixed, mix to her double.

⁶ آن‌چنان با او رفتار كنید كه او با دیگران كرده است. برای کارهایش دوچندان به او بازگردانید. پیاله‌اش را دو برابر غلیظ‌تر از پیاله‌ای بگردانید كه او برای شما تهیّه كرده است.

⁷However much she glorified herself, and grew wanton, so much give her of torment and mourning. For she says in her heart, ‘I sit a queen, and am no widow, and will in no way see mourning.’

⁷ او را به همان اندازه كه به جلال و تجمّل خویش فخر می‌کرد، غم و عذاب دهید. چون او در دل خود می‌گوید: 'من مثل ملكه بر تخت خود نشسته‌ام! من دیگر بیوه نیستم و غم را هرگز نخواهم دید.'

⁸Therefore in one day her plagues will come: death, mourning, and famine; and she will be utterly burned with fire; for the Lord God who has judged her is strong.

⁸ به این جهت تمام بلایا یعنی مرگ و غم و قحطی در یک روز به او روی می‌آورند و او در آتش خواهد سوخت، زیرا خداوند، خدایی كه این چنین او را كیفر می‌دهد، قادر است.»

⁹The kings of the earth, who committed sexual immorality and lived wantonly with her, will weep and wail over her, when they look at the smoke of her burning,

⁹ هرگاه پادشاهان زمین كه با او زنا کرده‌اند و از تجمّل زیاد او بهره‌مند شده‌اند، دود سوختن او را ببینند، به حال او گریه و زاری خواهند كرد.

¹⁰standing far away for the fear of her torment, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For your judgment has come in one hour.’

¹⁰ آنها از ترس عذابی كه او متحمّل می‌شود، دور ایستاده خواهند گفت: «آه، آه، ای شهر بزرگ، ای بابل، شهر پرقدرت كه در یک ساعت به كیفر خود رسیدی!»

¹¹The merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise any more;

¹¹ بازرگانان جهان نیز اشک خواهند ریخت و برای او سوگواری خواهند نمود؛ زیرا دیگر كسی كالاهای آنان را نمی‌‌‌خرد.

¹²merchandise of gold, silver, precious stones, pearls, fine linen, purple, silk, scarlet, all expensive wood, every vessel of ivory, every vessel made of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble;

¹² دیگر كسی كالاهای طلا و نقره، جواهرات و مروارید، لباسهای ارغوانی و قرمز، یا ابریشم و كتان ظریف، انواع چوبهای قیمتی و معطّر، انواع ظروف عاجی، چوبی، برنزی، آهنین و یا مرمری،

¹³and cinnamon, incense, perfume, frankincense, wine, olive oil, fine flour, wheat, sheep, horses, chariots, and people’s bodies and souls.

¹³ دارچین و ادویه، عطریّات و بُخور و كُندُر، شراب و روغن، آرد و گندم، گاو و گوسفند، اسب و ارّابه‌های جنگی و حتّی غلامان و نفوس انسانی آنها را نمی‌‌‌خرد.

¹⁴The fruits which your soul lusted after have been lost to you, and all things that were dainty and sumptuous have perished from you, and you will find them no more at all.

¹⁴ آن میوه‌ای را كه سخت در آرزوی تصاحبش بودی، از دست دادی و تجمّل و شكوه تو از بین رفته است و دیگر هیچ‌وقت آنها را نخواهی یافت.

¹⁵The merchants of these things, who were made rich by her, will stand far away for the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning;

¹⁵ بازرگانان این كالاها كه ثروت خود را از آن شهر به دست آوردند، از ترس عذاب او دور خواهند ایستاد و با گریه و غم خواهند گفت:

¹⁶saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, she who was dressed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls!

¹⁶ «آه، آه، ای شهر بزرگ كه به لباسهای كتان ظریف ارغوانی و قرمز ملبّس و با طلا و جواهر و مروارید آراسته بودی!

¹⁷For in an hour such great riches are made desolate.’ Every shipmaster, and everyone who sails anywhere, and mariners, and as many as gain their living by sea, stood far away,

¹⁷ در یک ساعت همهٔ ثروت تو تباه گردیده است!» تمام ناخدایان و ملّاحان و مسافران دریا و آنانی كه از راه دریا تجارت می‌کنند، دور ایستادند.

¹⁸and cried out as they looked at the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘What is like the great city?’

¹⁸ همین‌که دود سوختن او را دیدند، فریاد زده گفتند: «آیا هرگز شهری مثل این شهر بزرگ بوده است؟»

¹⁹They cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and mourning, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had their ships in the sea were made rich by reason of her great wealth!’ For in one hour is she made desolate.

¹⁹ آنها بر سرهای خود خاک ریخته و با گریه و زاری فریاد زده می‌گفتند: «آه، آه، ای شهر بزرگ، شهری كه تمام كشتی‌داران دریا از ثروت او توانگر شدند، در یک ساعت ویران شده است!»

²⁰“Rejoice over her, O heaven, you saints, apostles, and prophets; for God has judged your judgment on her.”

²⁰ ای آسمان از نابودی او شادی كن، ای مقدّسین و رسولان، و ای انبیا شادی كنید، چون خداوند انتقام شما را از او گرفته است.

²¹A mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and cast it into the sea, saying, “Thus with violence will Babylon, the great city, be thrown down, and will be found no more at all.

²¹ آنگاه فرشته‌ای نیرومند، سنگی را كه به بزرگی سنگ آسیاب بود برداشت و به دریا پرت كرد و گفت: «همین‌طور بابل، آن شهر بزرگ، به سختی پرت خواهد گردید و دیگر یافت نخواهد شد.

²²The voice of harpists, minstrels, flute players, and trumpeters will be heard no more at all in you. No craftsman, of whatever craft, will be found any more at all in you. The sound of a mill will be heard no more at all in you.

²² دیگر صدای چنگ‌نوازان، مطربان، نی‌زنان و شیپورزنان در تو شنیده نخواهد شد! دیگر صنعتگران هیچ حرفه‌ای در تو نخواهند یافت! دیگر صدای آسیاب در تو به گوش نخواهد رسید!

²³The light of a lamp will shine no more at all in you. The voice of the bridegroom and of the bride will be heard no more at all in you; for your merchants were the princes of the earth; for with your sorcery all the nations were deceived.

²³ و نور چراغ در تو دیده نخواهد شد! و دیگر صدای عروس و داماد در تو به گوش نخواهد رسید. روزگاری تمام بزرگان جهان بازرگانان تو بودند و تو با جادوی خود همهٔ ملل را فریفته بودی.» زیرا بابل به‌خاطر خون انبیا و خون مقدّسان و خون همهٔ مقتولان روی زمین كه در آن یافت شد، به كیفر خود رسید.

²⁴In her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all who have been slain on the earth.”

²⁴ زیرا بابل به‌خاطر خون انبیا و خون مقدّسان و خون همهٔ مقتولان روی زمین كه در آن یافت شد، به كیفر خود رسید.
