¹He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray, and not give up,

¹A povedal im aj podobenstvo na to, že je treba vždycky sa modliť a neustávať.

²saying, “There was a judge in a certain city who didn’t fear God, and didn’t respect man.

²Bol vraj v istom meste nejaký sudca, ktorý sa Boha nebál a človeka nehanbil.

³ A widow was in that city, and she often came to him, saying, ‘Defend me from my adversary!’

³A bola v tom istom meste jakási vdova, ktorá chodila k nemu a hovorila: Pomsti ma nad mojím protivníkom a vysloboď ma od neho!

⁴ He wouldn’t for a while, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God, nor respect man,

⁴A nechcel za čas. Ale potom povedal sám v sebe: Hoci sa ani Boha nebojím ani človeka sa nehanbím,

⁵ yet because this widow bothers me, I will defend her, or else she will wear me out by her continual coming.’”

⁵ale preto, že mi táto vdova nedá pokoja, pomstím ju, nech mi tu nechodí naveky a netrápi ma.

⁶The Lord said, “Listen to what the unrighteous judge says.

⁶A Pán povedal: Počujte, čo hovorí ten nespravedlivý sudca!

⁷ Won’t God avenge his chosen ones, who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them?

⁷A čo by Bôh nepomstil svojich vyvolených, ktorí volajú k nemu dňom i nocou, hoc aj pri nich zhovieva?

⁸ I tell you that he will avenge them quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

⁸Ba hovorím vám, že ich pomstí, a to skoro. Avšak keď prijde Syn človeka, či aj najde vieru na zemi?

⁹He spoke also this parable to certain people who were convinced of their own righteousness, and who despised all others.

⁹A povedal i proti niektorým, ktorí dúfali v sebe, že sú spravedliví a ostatných nemali za nič, toto podobenstvo:

¹⁰ “Two men went up into the temple to pray; one was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector.

¹⁰Dvaja mužovia išli hore do chrámu modliť sa. Jeden bol farizeus a druhý publikán.

¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this: ‘God, I thank you, that I am not like the rest of men, extortioners, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

¹¹Farizeus si zastal a takto sa modlil u seba: Bože, ďakujem ti, že nie som ako ostatní ľudia, dráči, nespravedliví, cudzoložníci alebo aj ako tento publikán.

¹² I fast twice a week. I give tithes of all that I get.’

¹²Postím sa dva razy do týždňa a dávam desiatky zo všetkých príjmov.

¹³ But the tax collector, standing far away, wouldn’t even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’

¹³A publikán stojac zďaleka nechcel ani len oči pozdvihnúť k nebu, ale sa bil do pŕs a hovoril: Ó, Bože, buď milostivý mne hriešnemu!

¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

¹⁴Hovorím vám, že tento odišiel ospravedlnený dolu do svojho domu a nie tamten. Lebo každý, kto sa povyšuje, bude ponížený; a kto sa ponižuje, bude povýšený.

¹⁵They were also bringing their babies to him, that he might touch them. But when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

¹⁵A donášali mu aj nemluvňatá, aby sa ich dotýkal. A keď to videli učeníci, dohovárali im.

¹⁶Jesus summoned them, saying, “Allow the little children to come to me, and don’t hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

¹⁶Ale Ježiš privolajúc si deti povedal: Nechajte dieťatká ísť ku mne a nebráňte im, lebo takých je kráľovstvo Božie.

¹⁷ Most certainly, I tell you, whoever doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.”

¹⁷Ameň vám hovorím, že kto by neprijal kráľovstva Božieho jako dieťa, nikdy nevojde do neho.

¹⁸A certain ruler asked him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

¹⁸A opýtalo sa ho ktorési knieža a rieklo: Dobrý Učiteľu, čo mám činiť, aby som dedične obdržal večný život?

¹⁹Jesus asked him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good, except one—God.

¹⁹A Ježiš mu odpovedal: Čo ma nazývaš dobrým? Nikto nie je dobrý, iba jeden, Bôh.

²⁰ You know the commandments: ‘Don’t commit adultery,’ ‘Don’t murder,’ ‘Don’t steal,’ ‘Don’t give false testimony,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’” Exodus 20:12-16; Deuteronomy 5:16-20

²⁰A prikázania vieš: Nezcudzoložíš, nezabiješ, neukradneš, nevydáš falošného svedoctva, cti svojho otca i svoju mať!

²¹He said, “I have observed all these things from my youth up.”

²¹A on povedal: To všetko som zachoval od svojej mladosti.

²²When Jesus heard these things, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have, and distribute it to the poor. You will have treasure in heaven. Come, follow me.”

²²A keď to počul Ježiš, povedal mu: Ešte ti jedno chýba: predaj všetko, čo máš, a rozdaj chudobným a budeš mať poklad v nebi a poď, nasleduj ma!

²³But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was very rich.

²³Ale on počujúc to veľmi sa zarmútil, lebo bol veľmi bohatý.

²⁴Jesus, seeing that he became very sad, said, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter into the Kingdom of God!

²⁴A keď ho videl Ježiš, že sa veľmi zarmútil, povedal: Ako ťažko vojdú do kráľovstva Božieho tí, ktorí majú majetky!

²⁵ For it is easier for a camel to enter in through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God.”

²⁵Lebo ľahšie je veľblúdovi prejsť cez ihelnú dierku ako bohatému vojsť do kráľovstva Božieho.

²⁶Those who heard it said, “Then who can be saved?”

²⁶Vtedy povedali tí, ktorí to počuli: A kto potom môže byť spasený?

²⁷But he said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”

²⁷A on povedal: To, čo je nemožné u ľudí, je možné u Boha.

²⁸Peter said, “Look, we have left everything, and followed you.”

²⁸A Peter povedal: Hľa, my sme opustili všetko a išli sme za tebou -.

²⁹He said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for the Kingdom of God’s sake,

²⁹A on im povedal: Ameň vám hovorím, že nieto nikoho, kto by opustil dom alebo rodičov alebo bratov alebo manželku alebo deti pre kráľovstvo Božie,

³⁰ who will not receive many times more in this time, and in the world to come, eternal life.”

³⁰kto by už v tomto čase nedostal mnohonásobne viac a v budúcom veku večného života.

³¹He took the twelve aside, and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all the things that are written through the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be completed.

³¹A pojmúc si dvanástich povedal im: Hľa, ideme hore do Jeruzalema, a naplní sa Synovi človeka všetko, čo je napísané skrze prorokov;

³² For he will be delivered up to the Gentiles, will be mocked, treated shamefully, and spit on.

³²lebo ho vydajú pohanom, naposmievajú sa mu, zhanobia, opľujú

³³ They will scourge and kill him. On the third day, he will rise again.”

³³a zbičujúc zabijú ho, ale tretieho dňa vstane z mŕtvych.

³⁴They understood none of these things. This saying was hidden from them, and they didn’t understand the things that were said.

³⁴Ale oni neporozumeli ničomu z toho, a bolo skryté pred nimi to slovo, ani nevedeli, čo sa to hovorí.

³⁵It happened, as he came near Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the road, begging.

³⁵A stalo sa, keď sa blížil k Jerichu, že nejaký slepý sedel vedľa cesty a žobral.

³⁶Hearing a multitude going by, he asked what this meant.

³⁶A keď počul zástup, idúci pomimo, vypytoval sa, čo je to?

³⁷They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.

³⁷A oznámili mu, že Ježiš Nazarejský ide tade.

³⁸He cried out, “Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me!”

³⁸Vtedy skríkol a povedal: Ježišu, synu Dávidov, zmiluj sa nado mnou!

³⁹Those who led the way rebuked him, that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “You son of David, have mercy on me!”

³⁹A tí, ktorí išli popredku, dohovárali mu, aby mlčal, ale on tým väčšmi kričal: Synu Dávidov, zmiluj sa nado mnou!

⁴⁰Standing still, Jesus commanded him to be brought to him. When he had come near, he asked him,

⁴⁰Vtedy postál Ježiš a rozkázal, aby ho priviedli k nemu. A keď sa priblížil, opýtal sa ho:

⁴¹ “What do you want me to do?” He said, “Lord, that I may see again.”

⁴¹Čo chceš, aby som ti učinil? A on povedal: Pane, aby som videl.

⁴²Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight. Your faith has healed you.”

⁴²A Ježiš mu povedal: Vidz! Tvoja viera ťa uzdravila.

⁴³Immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God. All the people, when they saw it, praised God.

⁴³A naskutku prezrel a išiel za ním oslavujúc Boha. A všetok ľud vidiac to vzdal chválu Bohu.
