Psalms

35

1Contend, Yahweh, with those who contend with me. Fight against those who fight against me.
1[A Psalm] of David. Strive thou, O Jehovah, with them that strive with me: Fight thou against them that fight against me.
2Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help.
2 Ma sambu koray kayna nda koray beeri, Ma te garbas ay gaakasinay sabbay se,
2Take hold of shield and buckler, And stand up for my help.
3Brandish the spear and block those who pursue me. Tell my soul, “I am your salvation.”
3Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that pursue me: Say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.
4Let those who seek after my soul be disappointed and brought to dishonor. Let those who plot my ruin be turned back and confounded.
4Let them be put to shame and brought to dishonor that seek after my soul: Let them be turned back and confounded that devise my hurt.
5Let them be as chaff before the wind, Yahweh’s angel driving them on.
5 I ma ciya sanda du kaŋ go haw jine, Rabbi malayka goono g'i gaaray.
5Let them be as chaff before the wind, And the angel of Jehovah driving [them] on.
6Let their way be dark and slippery, Yahweh’s angel pursuing them.
6 I fonda ma te kubay, a ma te tansi mo, Rabbi malayka goono g'i gaarayyaŋo kankamandi.
6Let their way be dark and slippery, And the angel of Jehovah pursuing them.
7For without cause they have hidden their net in a pit for me. Without cause they have dug a pit for my soul.
7 Zama i na ngey asuuta tugu guusu ra ay se sabaabu kulu si, I na guusu fansi ay fundo se sabaabu kulu si.
7For without cause have they hid for me their net [in] a pit; Without cause have they digged [a pit] for my soul.
8Let destruction come on him unawares. Let his net that he has hidden catch himself. Let him fall into that destruction.
8 Halaciyaŋ ma kaŋ i boŋ jirsiyaŋ ra. Asuuta kaŋ i tugu din m'i cey di. Halaciyaŋo kaŋ i soola din, i ma kaŋ a ra.
8Let destruction come upon him unawares; And let his net that he hath hid catch himself: With destruction let him fall therein.
9My soul shall be joyful in Yahweh. It shall rejoice in his salvation.
9 Ay fundo mo ga farhã Rabbi ra, A ga farhã gumo a faaba ra.
9And my soul shall be joyful in Jehovah: It shall rejoice in his salvation.
10All my bones shall say, “Yahweh, who is like you, who delivers the poor from him who is too strong for him; yes, the poor and the needy from him who robs him?”
10 Ay biriyey kulu ga ne: «Ya Rabbi, may no ga hima nin kaŋ ga taabante faaba boro kaŋ bis'a gaabi kambe ra?» Oho, taabante da laamikoy, A g'i faaba ngey komkoy kambe ra.
10All my bones shall say, Jehovah, who is like unto thee, Who deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, Yea, the poor and the needy from him that robbeth him?
11Unrighteous witnesses rise up. They ask me about things that I don’t know about.
11Unrighteous witnesses rise up; They ask me of things that I know not.
12They reward me evil for good, to the bereaving of my soul.
12 I goono ga laala bana ay se booriyaŋ nangu ra, K'ay fundo hasara.
12They reward me evil for good, [To] the bereaving of my soul.
13But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth. I afflicted my soul with fasting. My prayer returned into my own bosom.
13 Amma ay wo, waati kaŋ i goono ga zaŋay, Ay bankaarayey ya zaara-zaarayaŋ no. Ay n'ay fundo kaynandi nda mehaw, Ay soobay ka adduwa te mo ay bina ra.
13But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I afflicted my soul with fasting; And my prayer returned into mine own bosom.
14I behaved myself as though it had been my friend or my brother. I bowed down mourning, as one who mourns his mother.
14 Alhaalo kaŋ ay cabe, sanda day ay coro no, Wala mo ay nya-ize. Ay sooli, ay goono ga bu hẽeni te, Sanda boro kaŋ goono ga nga nya bu baray te.
14I behaved myself as though it had been my friend or my brother: I bowed down mourning, as one that bewaileth his mother.
15But in my adversity, they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together. The attackers gathered themselves together against me, and I didn’t know it. They tore at me, and didn’t cease.
15 Amma ngey wo, waati kaŋ ay simbar, Kal i soobay ka farhã, i margu mo. Karkoy kulu margu ay gaa, ay sinda baaru mo. I soobay k'ay tooru-tooru, i mana naŋ.
15But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: The abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew [it] not; They did tear me, and ceased not:
16Like the profane mockers in feasts, they gnashed their teeth at me.
16 Sanda borey kaŋ yaŋ si Irikoy gana, Kaŋ ga hahaaray ngey batey ra, Yaadin cine no i na ngey hinjey kaama ay gaa.
16Like the profane mockers in feasts, They gnashed upon me with their teeth.
17Lord, how long will you look on? Rescue my soul from their destruction, my precious life from the lions.
M'ay fundo faaba ka kaa i halacandiyaŋo ra! M'ay fundi follonka mo faaba muusu beerey gaa!
17Lord, how long wilt thou look on? Rescue my soul from their destructions, My darling from the lions.
18I will give you thanks in the great assembly. I will praise you among many people.
18I will give thee thanks in the great assembly: I will praise thee among much people.
19Don’t let those who are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me; neither let those who hate me without a cause wink their eyes.
19Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me; Neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.
20For they don’t speak peace, but they devise deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land.
20 Zama i mana baani sanni te bo, Amma i goono ga zamba sanniyaŋ soola ka dake bine-baani-koyey boŋ laabo ra.
20For they speak not peace; But they devise deceitful words against them that are quiet in the land.
21Yes, they opened their mouth wide against me. They said, “Aha! Aha! Our eye has seen it!”
21 Daahir i na ngey meyey feeri gumo. I ne: «Ahãa, ahãa, iri moy di a!»
21Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me; They said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.
22You have seen it, Yahweh. Don’t keep silent. Lord, don’t be far from me.
22 Ya Rabbi, ni di woodin. Ma si dangay. Ya ay Koyo, ma si mooru ay.
22Thou hast seen it, O Jehovah; keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me.
23Wake up! Rise up to defend me, my God! My Lord, contend for me!
23 Ya ay Irikoyo, ay Koy Beero, ma tun ka kay, Ma mo hay ay cimo d'ay sanno gaa.
23Stir up thyself, and awake to the justice [due] unto me, [Even] unto my cause, my God and my Lord.
24Vindicate me, Yahweh my God, according to your righteousness. Don’t let them gloat over me.
I ma si du ka farhã ay boŋ.
24Judge me, O Jehovah my God, according to thy righteousness; And let them not rejoice over me.
25Don’t let them say in their heart, “Aha! That’s the way we want it!” Don’t let them say, “We have swallowed him up!”
25 I ma si ne ngey biney ra: «Ahãa, yaawo no iri ga ba!» I ma si ne: «Iri n'a gon sukutum.»
25Let them not say in their heart, Aha, so would we have it: Let them not say, We have swallowed him up.
26Let them be disappointed and confounded together who rejoice at my calamity. Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify themselves against me.
26 Ngey kaŋ yaŋ ga farhã d'ay hasarawo ma haaw, I ma butugu care banda. Borey kaŋ yaŋ ga ngey boŋ beerandi ay boŋ, Haawi nda kayna m'i daabu.
26Let them be put to shame and confounded together that rejoice at my hurt: Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor that magnify themselves against me.
27Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause. Yes, let them say continually, “Yahweh be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of his servant!”
27Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favor my righteous cause: Yea, let them say continually, Jehovah be magnified, Who hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
28My tongue shall talk about your righteousness and about your praise all day long.
28And my tongue shall talk of thy righteousness [And] of thy praise all the day long.
