¹When we had escaped, then they NU reads “we” learned that the island was called Malta.

¹ครั้นรอดพ้นภัยแล้ว พวกเขาจึงรู้ว่าเกาะนั้นชื่อมอลตา

²The natives showed us uncommon kindness; for they kindled a fire, and received us all, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.

²ฝ่ายชาวป่านั้นมีความกรุณาแก่พวกเราเป็นอันมาก เขาก่อไฟรับรองเราทุกคนเพราะฝนตกและหนาว

³But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

³เปาโลเก็บกิ่งไม้แห้งมัดหนึ่งมาใส่ไฟ มีงูพิษตัวหนึ่งออกมาเพราะถูกความร้อนกัดมือของเปาโลติดอยู่

⁴When the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said one to another, “No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped from the sea, yet Justice has not allowed to live.”

⁴เมื่อพวกชาวป่านั้นเห็นงูติดห้อยอยู่ที่มือของเปาโล จึงพูดกันว่า "คนนี้คงเป็นผู้ฆ่าคนแน่นอน ถึงแม้ว่ารอดพ้นจากทะเลแล้ว พระผู้ทรงธรรมก็ยังไม่ยอมให้รอดตายไปได้"

⁵However he shook off the creature into the fire, and wasn’t harmed.

⁵แต่เปาโลได้สะบัดมือให้งูตกลงไปในไฟ และหาเป็นอันตรายประการใดไม่

⁶But they expected that he would have swollen or fallen down dead suddenly, but when they watched for a long time and saw nothing bad happen to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

⁶ฝ่ายเขาทั้งหลายคอยดูอยู่ คิดว่าท่านจะบวมขึ้นหรือจะล้มลงตายทันที แต่ครั้นเขาคอยดูอยู่ช้านานมิได้เห็นท่านเป็นอะไร เขาจึงกลับถือว่าท่านเป็นพระ

⁷Now in the neighborhood of that place were lands belonging to the chief man of the island, named Publius, who received us, and courteously entertained us for three days.

⁷เจ้าแห่งเกาะนั้นชื่อปูบลิอัส มีไร่นาอยู่ใกล้ตำบลนั้น ท่านได้ต้อนรับเลี้ยงดูพวกเราไว้อย่างดีสามวัน

⁸It happened that the father of Publius lay sick of fever and dysentery. Paul entered in to him, prayed, and laying his hands on him, healed him.

⁸ต่อมาบิดาของปูบลิอัสนั้นนอนป่วยอยู่ เป็นไข้และเป็นบิด เปาโลจึงเข้าไปหาท่านอธิษฐานแล้ววางมือบนท่านรักษาให้หาย

⁹Then when this was done, the rest also who had diseases in the island came, and were cured.

⁹ครั้นทำอย่างนั้นแล้ว คนอื่นๆที่เกาะนั้นซึ่งมีโรคต่างๆก็มาหา และเขาก็หายด้วย

¹⁰They also honored us with many honors, and when we sailed, they put on board the things that we needed.

¹⁰เขาทั้งหลายจึงให้เกียรติพวกเราหลายประการ เมื่อเราจะแล่นเรือไปจากที่นั่น เขาจึงนำสิ่งของที่เราต้องการมาใส่เรือ

¹¹After three months, we set sail in a ship of Alexandria which had wintered in the island, whose sign was “The Twin Brothers.”

¹¹ครั้นล่วงไปสามเดือน พวกเราจึงลงในเรือกำปั่นซึ่งมาจากเมืองอเล็กซานเดรียและค้างอยู่ที่เกาะนั้นในฤดูหนาว กำปั่นลำนั้นมีรูปลูกแฝด ชื่อแคสเตอร์และพอลลักซ์ เป็นเครื่องหมาย

¹²Touching at Syracuse, we stayed there three days.

¹²พวกเราแวะที่เมืองไซราคิ้วส์จอดอยู่ที่นั่นสามวัน

¹³From there we circled around and arrived at Rhegium. After one day, a south wind sprang up, and on the second day we came to Puteoli,

¹³เราออกจากที่นั่นอ้อมไปยังเมืองเรยีอูม ครั้นรุ่งขึ้นลมทิศใต้ก็พัดมา วันที่สองจึงมาถึงเมืองโปทิโอลี

¹⁴where we found brothers, The word for “brothers” here and where context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” and were entreated to stay with them for seven days. So we came to Rome.

¹⁴เราพบพวกพี่น้องที่นั่น และเขาเชิญเราให้หยุดพักอาศัยอยู่กับเขาเจ็ดวัน แล้วเราจึงไปถึงกรุงโรม

¹⁵From there the brothers, when they heard of us, came to meet us as far as The Market of Appius and The Three Taverns. When Paul saw them, he thanked God, and took courage.

¹⁵ครั้นพวกพี่น้องในกรุงโรมได้ยินข่าวพวกเรา เขาจึงออกมาพบเราที่บ้านตลาดอัปปีอัสและที่บ้านสามร้าน เมื่อเปาโลเห็นเขาแล้ว จึงขอบพระเดชพระคุณพระเจ้าและมีกำลังใจดีขึ้น

¹⁶When we entered into Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard, but Paul was allowed to stay by himself with the soldier who guarded him.

¹⁶ครั้นพวกเรามาถึงกรุงโรม นายร้อยได้มอบพวกนักโทษให้กับผู้บัญชาการของค่ายนั้น แต่เขายอมให้เปาโลอยู่คนเดียวต่างหาก ให้ทหารคนหนึ่งคุมไว้

¹⁷It happened that after three days Paul called together those who were the leaders of the Jews. When they had come together, he said to them, “I, brothers, though I had done nothing against the people, or the customs of our fathers, still was delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans,

¹⁷ต่อมาครั้นล่วงไปสามวันแล้ว เปาโลจึงเชิญพวกผู้ใหญ่ในพวกยิวมาประชุมกัน เมื่อมาพร้อมหน้ากันแล้วท่านจึงกล่าวแก่เขาว่า "ท่านพี่น้องทั้งหลาย ถึงแม้ว่าข้าพเจ้ามิได้กระทำผิดสิ่งหนึ่งสิ่งใดต่อชนชาติ หรือผิดธรรมเนียมของบรรพบุรุษ ข้าพเจ้ายังต้องถูกมอบเป็นนักโทษมาจากกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม เป็นนักโทษให้อยู่ในมือของพวกโรม

¹⁸who, when they had examined me, desired to set me free, because there was no cause of death in me.

¹⁸ครั้นพวกนั้นได้ไต่สวนข้าพเจ้าแล้วก็ประสงค์จะปล่อยข้าพเจ้าเสีย เพราะไม่มีเหตุอะไรที่ข้าพเจ้าควรจะต้องตาย

¹⁹But when the Jews spoke against it, I was constrained to appeal to Caesar, not that I had anything about which to accuse my nation.

¹⁹แต่ว่าเมื่อพวกยิวพูดคัดค้าน ข้าพเจ้าจึงจำต้องอุทธรณ์ถึงซีซาร์ แต่มิใช่ว่าข้าพเจ้ามีอะไรจะฟ้องชนร่วมชาติของข้าพเจ้า

²⁰For this cause therefore I asked to see you and to speak with you. For because of the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.”

²⁰เหตุฉะนั้นเพราะเหตุนี้ข้าพเจ้าจึงเชิญท่านทั้งหลายมา เพื่อจะได้เห็นหน้าและพูดกับท่าน เพราะที่ข้าพเจ้าถูกล่ามโซ่นี้ก็เนื่องด้วยความหวังของชนชาติอิสราเอล"

²¹They said to him, “We neither received letters from Judea concerning you, nor did any of the brothers come here and report or speak any evil of you.

²¹เขาทั้งหลายจึงตอบท่านว่า "พวกเราหาได้รับจดหมายจากแคว้นยูเดียกล่าวถึงท่าน หรือหามีพวกพี่น้องผู้หนึ่งผู้ใดมารายงานหรือกล่าวร้ายถึงท่านไม่

²²But we desire to hear from you what you think. For, as concerning this sect, it is known to us that everywhere it is spoken against.”

²²แต่ข้าพเจ้าทั้งหลายปรารถนาจะฟังท่านกล่าวว่าท่านคิดเห็นอย่างไร เพราะพวกข้าพเจ้าทราบว่า พวกที่ถือลัทธินี้ก็ถูกติเตียนทุกแห่ง"

²³When they had appointed him a day, many people came to him at his lodging. He explained to them, testifying about the Kingdom of God, and persuading them concerning Jesus, both from the law of Moses and from the prophets, from morning until evening.

²³เมื่อเขานัดวันพบกับท่าน คนเป็นอันมากก็พากันมาหายังที่อาศัยของท่าน ท่านจึงกล่าวแก่เขาตั้งแต่เช้าจนเย็น เป็นพยานถึงอาณาจักรของพระเจ้า และชักชวนให้เขาเชื่อถือในพระเยซู โดยใช้ข้อความจากพระราชบัญญัติของโมเสส และจากคัมภีร์ศาสดาพยากรณ์

²⁴Some believed the things which were spoken, and some disbelieved.

²⁴คำที่ท่านกล่าวนั้นบางคนก็เชื่อ บางคนก็ไม่เชื่อ

²⁵When they didn’t agree among themselves, they departed after Paul had spoken one word, “The Holy Spirit spoke rightly through Isaiah, the prophet, to our fathers,

²⁵และเมื่อเขาไม่เห็นพ้องกันจึงลาไป เมื่อเปาโลได้กล่าวข้อความแถมว่า "พระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ตรัสกับบรรพบุรุษของเราทั้งหลาย โดยอิสยาห์ศาสดาพยากรณ์ถูกต้องดีแล้ว

²⁶saying, ‘Go to this people, and say, in hearing, you will hear, but will in no way understand. In seeing, you will see, but will in no way perceive.

²⁶ว่า `จงไปหาชนชาตินี้และกล่าวว่า พวกเจ้าจะได้ยินก็จริง แต่จะไม่เข้าใจ จะดูก็จริง แต่จะไม่สังเกต

²⁷For this people’s heart has grown callous. Their ears are dull of hearing. Their eyes they have closed. Lest they should see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their heart, and would turn again, and I would heal them.’ Isaiah 6:9-10

²⁷เพราะว่าจิตใจของชนชาตินี้ก็เฉื่อยชา หูก็ตึง และตาเขาเขาก็ปิด เกรงว่าเขาจะเห็นด้วยตาของเขา และได้ยินด้วยหูของเขา และเข้าใจด้วยจิตใจของเขา และจะหันกลับมา และเราจะรักษาเขาให้หาย'

²⁸“Be it known therefore to you, that the salvation of God is sent to the nations. They will also listen.”

²⁸เหตุฉะนั้นท่านทั้งหลายจงรู้ว่า ความรอดของพระเจ้าได้ไปถึงคนต่างชาติแล้ว และเขาจะฟังด้วย"

²⁹When he had said these words, the Jews departed, having a great dispute among themselves.

²⁹เมื่อเปาโลได้กล่าวคำเหล่านี้เสร็จแล้ว พวกยิวก็ได้จากไป และได้เถียงกันเป็นการใหญ่

³⁰Paul stayed two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who were coming to him,

³⁰เปาโลจึงได้อาศัยอยู่ครบสองปีในบ้านที่ท่านเช่า และได้ต้อนรับคนทั้งปวงที่มาหาท่าน

³¹preaching the Kingdom of God, and teaching the things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness, without hindrance.

³¹ทั้งประกาศอาณาจักรของพระเจ้า และสั่งสอนเรื่องพระเยซูคริสต์เจ้าโดยใจกล้า ไม่มีผู้หนึ่งผู้ใดขัดขวาง
