¹Hear the word which Yahweh speaks to you, house of Israel!

¹โอ วงศ์วานอิสราเอลเอ๋ย จงฟังพระวจนะซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับเจ้า

²Thus says Yahweh, “Don’t learn the way of the nations, and don’t be dismayed at the signs of the sky; for the nations are dismayed at them.

²พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า "อย่าเรียนรู้วิถีทางแห่งบรรดาประชาชาติ หรืออย่าคร้ามกลัวเพราะหมายสำคัญของท้องฟ้า ตามที่บรรดาประชาชาติคร้ามกลัวนั้น

³For the customs of the peoples are vanity; for one cuts a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman with the axe.

³เพราะธรรมเนียมของชนชาติทั้งหลายก็ไร้สาระ เขาตัดต้นไม้มาจากป่าต้นหนึ่ง เป็นสิ่งที่มือช่างได้กระทำด้วยขวาน

⁴They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it not move.

⁴เขาทั้งหลายก็เอาเงินและทองมาประดับ เขาตอกไว้แน่นด้วยค้อนและตาปู มันก็เคลื่อนไหวไปมาไม่ได้

⁵They are like a palm tree, of turned work, and don’t speak: they must be carried, because they can’t go. Don’t be afraid of them; for they can’t do evil, neither is it in them to do good.”

⁵มันตั้งขึ้นเหมือนต้นอินทผลัม มันพูดไม่ได้ คนต้องขนมันไป เพราะมันเดินไม่ได้ อย่ากลัวมันเลย เพราะมันทำร้ายไม่ได้ มันก็ทำดีไม่ได้ด้วย"

⁶There is none like you, Yahweh; you are great, and your name is great in might.

⁶ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์ หามีผู้ใดเหมือนพระองค์ไม่ พระองค์ทรงเป็นใหญ่ และพระนามของพระองค์มีฤทธิ์มาก

⁷Who should not fear you, King of the nations? For it appertains to you; because among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their royal estate, there is none like you.

⁷ข้าแต่กษัตริย์แห่งบรรดาประชาชาติ ผู้ใดจะไม่ยำเกรงพระองค์ เพราะพระองค์สมควรแก่การอย่างนี้ เพราะในบรรดาปราชญ์ของบรรดาประชาชาติ และในบรรดาราชอาณาจักรทั้งสิ้นของเขา ไม่มีผู้ใดเหมือนพระองค์

⁸But they are together brutish and foolish: the instruction of idols! it is but a stock.

⁸เขาทั้งหลายทั้งโฉดและโง่เขลา ไม้อันนั้นเป็นแต่คำสอนไร้สาระ

⁹There is silver beaten into plates, which is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the artificer and of the hands of the goldsmith; blue and purple for their clothing; they are all the work of skillful men.

⁹เครื่องเงินทุบนั้นเขาเอามาจากทารชิช และเอาทองคำมาจากเมืองอุฟาส เป็นผลงานของช่างฝีมือ และเป็นผลน้ำมือของช่างทอง เสื้อผ้าของรูปเคารพนั้นสีครามและสีม่วง เป็นผลงานของคนชำนาญทั้งนั้น

¹⁰But Yahweh is the true God; he is the living God, and an everlasting King: at his wrath the earth trembles, and the nations are not able to withstand his indignation.

¹⁰แต่พระเยโฮวาห์เป็นพระเจ้าเที่ยงแท้ พระองค์ทรงเป็นพระเจ้าผู้ทรงพระชนม์และเป็นพระมหากษัตริย์เนืองนิตย์ พอทรงพระพิโรธแผ่นดินก็หวั่นไหว และบรรดาประชาชาติจะทนต่อความกริ้วของพระองค์ไม่ได้

¹¹You shall say this to them: The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, these shall perish from the earth, and from under the heavens.

¹¹เจ้าจงพูดกับเขาทั้งปวงดังนี้ว่า "บรรดาพระผู้ที่มิได้ทรงสร้างฟ้าสวรรค์และแผ่นดินโลก จะพินาศไปจากแผ่นดินโลกและจากภายใต้ฟ้าสวรรค์เหล่านี้"

¹²He has made the earth by his power, he has established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding has he stretched out the heavens:

¹²พระองค์ทรงสร้างโลกด้วยฤทธิ์เดชของพระองค์ พระองค์ทรงสถาปนาพิภพไว้ด้วยพระสติปัญญาของพระองค์ และทรงขึงฟ้าสวรรค์ออกด้วยความเข้าใจของพระองค์

¹³when he utters his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and he causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; he makes lightnings for the rain, and brings forth the wind out of his treasuries.

¹³เมื่อพระองค์ทรงเปล่งพระสุรเสียงก็มีเสียงน้ำคะนองในท้องฟ้า และทรงกระทำให้หมอกลอยขึ้นจากปลายพิภพ ทรงกระทำฟ้าแลบเพื่อฝน และทรงนำลมมาจากพระคลังของพระองค์

¹⁴Every man has become brutish and without knowledge; every goldsmith is disappointed by his engraved image; for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.

¹⁴มนุษย์ทุกคนโฉดในทางความรู้ของตน ช่างทองทุกคนจะได้อายเพราะรูปเคารพสลักของตน เพราะรูปเคารพหล่อของเขาเป็นของเท็จ และไม่มีลมหายใจในรูปเคารพนั้น

¹⁵They are vanity, a work of delusion: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.

¹⁵มันเป็นของไร้ค่า และเป็นผลงานแห่งความผิดพลาด มันจะต้องพินาศเมื่อถึงเวลาการลงโทษ

¹⁶The portion of Jacob is not like these; for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the tribe of his inheritance: Yahweh of Armies is his name.

¹⁶พระองค์ผู้ทรงเป็นส่วนของยาโคบไม่เหมือนสิ่งเหล่านี้ เพราะพระองค์ทรงเป็นผู้ที่ก่อร่างทุกสิ่งขึ้น และอิสราเอลเป็นตระกูลที่เป็นมรดกของพระองค์ พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาเป็นพระนามของพระองค์

¹⁷Gather up your wares out of the land, you who live under siege.

¹⁷เจ้าทั้งหลายที่อาศัยอยู่ภายใต้การถูกล้อมเอ๋ย จงเก็บข้าวของจากพื้นดิน

¹⁸For thus says Yahweh, Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of the land at this time, and will distress them, that they may feel it.

¹⁸เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า "ดูเถิด เราจะเหวี่ยงชาวแผ่นดินออกไปเสีย ณ เวลานี้ และเราจะนำความทุกข์ใจมาถึงเขาเพื่อให้เขารู้สึก"

¹⁹Woe is me because of my hurt! my wound is grievous: but I said, Truly this is my grief, and I must bear it.

¹⁹วิบัติแก่ข้าพเจ้า เพราะความเจ็บปวดของข้าพเจ้า บาดแผลของข้าพเจ้าก็ร้ายหนัก แต่ข้าพเจ้าว่า "แท้จริงนี่เป็นความทุกข์ใจ และข้าพเจ้าจะต้องทนเอา"

²⁰My tent is destroyed, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone forth from me, and they are no more: there is none to spread my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.

²⁰เต็นท์ของข้าพเจ้าก็ถูกทำลาย และเชือกของข้าพเจ้าก็ขาดสิ้น ลูกๆของข้าพเจ้าจากข้าพเจ้าไปหมด และไม่มีเขาอีกแล้ว ไม่มีผู้หนึ่งผู้ใดที่จะกางเต็นท์ให้ข้าพเจ้าอีก และแขวนม่านของข้าพเจ้าให้

²¹For the shepherds are become brutish, and have not inquired of Yahweh: therefore they have not prospered, and all their flocks are scattered.

²¹เพราะว่าผู้เลี้ยงแกะก็โฉด และไม่ได้เสาะหาพระเยโฮวาห์ เพราะฉะนั้นเขาจะมิได้จำเริญขึ้น และฝูงแกะทั้งหลายของเขาก็จะกระจัดกระจายไป

²²The voice of news, behold, it comes, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah a desolation, a dwelling place of jackals.

²²ดูเถิด เสียงลือมาถึงแล้ว เสียงโกลาหลยิ่งใหญ่จากแดนเหนือ มากระทำให้หัวเมืองยูดาห์เป็นที่รกร้าง และให้เป็นถ้ำของมังกร

²³Yahweh, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.

²³ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์ ข้าพระองค์ทราบแล้วว่า ทางของมนุษย์ไม่อยู่ที่ตัวเขา คือไม่อยู่ที่มนุษย์ผู้ซึ่งดำเนินไปที่จะนำฝีก้าวของตนเอง

²⁴Yahweh, correct me, but in measure: not in your anger, lest you bring me to nothing.

²⁴ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์ ขอทรงโปรดตีสอนข้าพระองค์ด้วยความยุติธรรม มิใช่ด้วยความกริ้วของพระองค์ เกรงว่าพระองค์จะทรงนำข้าพระองค์มาถึงความสูญเปล่า

²⁵Pour out your wrath on the nations that don’t know you, and on the families that don’t call on your name: for they have devoured Jacob, yes, they have devoured him and consumed him, and have laid waste his habitation.

²⁵ขอพระองค์ทรงเทพระพิโรธของพระองค์เหนือเหล่าประชาชาติที่ไม่รู้จักพระองค์ และเหนือครอบครัวทั้งหลายที่ไม่ออกพระนามของพระองค์ เพราะเขาทั้งหลายได้กินเผาผลาญยาโคบ เขาได้เขมือบท่านเสีย และเผาผลาญท่านเสีย และกระทำที่อาศัยของท่านให้รกร้างไป
