¹Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a spring of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

¹โธ่เอ๋ย ถ้าศีรษะของข้าพเจ้าเป็นน้ำ และดวงตาของข้าพเจ้าเป็นบ่อน้ำตาพุก็จะดี เพื่อข้าพเจ้าจะได้ร้องไห้ทั้งกลางวันและกลางคืน เพราะบุตรสาวประชาชนของข้าพเจ้าที่ถูกฆ่า

²Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.

²โธ่เอ๋ย ถ้าข้าพเจ้ามีที่พักสำหรับคนเดินทางอยู่ที่ในถิ่นทุรกันดารก็จะดี เพื่อข้าพเจ้าจะได้พรากจากชนชาติของข้าพเจ้า และไปให้พ้นเขาเสีย เพราะเขาทั้งหลายเป็นคนล่วงประเวณีทั้งหมด และเป็นหมู่คนที่มักทรยศ

³They bend their tongue, as their bow, for falsehood; and they are grown strong in the land, but not for truth: for they proceed from evil to evil, and they don’t know me, says Yahweh.

³"เขาทั้งหลายงอลิ้นของเขาเหมือนคันธนูเพื่อกล่าวความเท็จ แต่เขาทั้งหลายไม่กล้าสู้เพื่อความจริงในแผ่นดิน เพราะเขาทั้งหลายจากความชั่วอย่างนี้ไปสู่ความชั่วอย่างนั้น และเขาทั้งหลายไม่รู้จักเรา" พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ

⁴Take heed everyone of his neighbor, and don’t trust in any brother; for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will go about with slanders.

⁴"ขอให้ทุกคนระวังเพื่อนบ้านของตน และอย่าวางใจในพี่น้องคนใดเลย เพราะว่าพี่น้องทุกคนจะเป็นคนหลอกล่อ และเพื่อนบ้านทุกคนจะเที่ยวไปเป็นคนครหานินทา

⁵They will deceive everyone his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies; they weary themselves to commit iniquity.

⁵ทุกคนจะล่อลวงเพื่อนบ้านของตัว ไม่มีใครจะพูดความจริงสักคนเดียว เขาได้สอนลิ้นของเขาให้พูดมุสา เขาได้กระทำความชั่วช้าจนน่าเบื่อหน่าย

⁶Your habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, says Yahweh.

⁶เจ้าอาศัยอยู่ท่ามกลางการล่อลวง โดยการล่อลวงเขาปฏิเสธที่จะรู้จักเรา" พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ

⁷Therefore thus says Yahweh of Armies, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how should I deal with the daughter of my people?

⁷เพราะฉะนั้น พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า "ดูเถิด เราจะถลุงเขาและทดลองเขา เหตุบุตรสาวประชาชนของเรา เราจะทำอย่างอื่นได้อย่างไร

⁸Their tongue is a deadly arrow; it speaks deceit: one speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart he lays wait for him.

⁸ลิ้นของเขาเป็นลูกศรมฤตยู มันพูดมารยา เขาพูดอย่างสันติกับเพื่อนบ้านของเขาด้วยปาก แต่ในใจของเขา เขาวางแผนการคอยดักเขาอยู่"

⁹Shall I not visit them for these things? says Yahweh; shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

⁹พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า "ไม่ควรที่เราจะลงโทษเขาเพราะสิ่งเหล่านี้หรือ ไม่ควรที่จิตใจเราจะแก้แค้นประชาชาติที่เป็นอย่างนี้หรือ

¹⁰For the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the pastures of the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none passes through; neither can men hear the voice of the livestock; both the birds of the sky and the animals are fled, they are gone.

¹⁰เราจะร้องไห้และครวญครางเหตุภูเขานั้น และคร่ำครวญเหตุลานหญ้าในถิ่นทุรกันดารเพราะว่ามันถูกเผาเสีย ไม่มีผู้ใดผ่านไปมา ไม่ได้ยินเสียงสัตว์เลี้ยงร้อง ทั้งนกในอากาศและสัตว์ได้หนีไปเสียแล้ว

¹¹I will make Jerusalem heaps, a dwelling place of jackals; and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.

¹¹เราจะกระทำให้เยรูซาเล็มเป็นกองซากปรักหักพัง เป็นถ้ำของมังกร และเราจะกระทำให้หัวเมืองของยูดาห์เป็นที่รกร้าง ไม่มีชาวเมืองสักคนเดียว"

¹²Who is the wise man, that may understand this? Who is he to whom the mouth of Yahweh has spoken, that he may declare it? Why is the land perished and burned up like a wilderness, so that none passes through?

¹²ใครเป็นคนมีปัญญาที่จะเข้าใจความนี้ได้ และมีผู้ใดที่พระโอษฐ์ของพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ตรัสแก่เขา เขาจึงประกาศความนั้นได้ เหตุไฉนแผ่นดินจึงพังทำลายและถูกเผาเสียเหมือนถิ่นทุรกันดาร จึงไม่มีใครผ่านไปมา

¹³Yahweh says, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein,

¹³และพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า "เพราะเขาทั้งหลายทอดทิ้งราชบัญญัติของเรา ซึ่งเราได้ตั้งไว้ต่อหน้าเขา และไม่ได้เชื่อฟังเสียงของเรา หรือดำเนินตามนั้น

¹⁴but have walked after the stubbornness of their own heart, and after the Baals, which their fathers taught them;

¹⁴แต่ได้ดำเนินตามใจของตนเองอย่างดื้อดึง และติดสอยห้อยตามพระบาอัล อย่างที่บรรพบุรุษได้สั่งสอนเขาไว้"

¹⁵therefore thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.

¹⁵เพราะฉะนั้น พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธา พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอล จึงตรัสว่า "ดูเถิด เราจะเลี้ยงชนชาตินี้ด้วยบอระเพ็ด และให้น้ำดีหมีเขาดื่ม

¹⁶I will scatter them also among the nations, whom neither they nor their fathers have known; and I will send the sword after them, until I have consumed them.

¹⁶เราจะกระจายเขาไปท่ามกลางประชาชาติ ที่ตัวเขาเองและบรรพบุรุษของเขาไม่รู้จัก และเราจะส่งดาบให้ไล่ตามเขาทั้งหลาย จนเราจะผลาญเขาสิ้น"

¹⁷Thus says Yahweh of Armies, Consider, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for the skillful women, that they may come:

¹⁷พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า "จงพิจารณาดู และเรียกนางร้องไห้ให้มา จงให้คนไปตามหญิงที่ชำนาญมา

¹⁸and let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.

¹⁸ให้เขารีบส่งเสียงคร่ำครวญเพื่อเราทั้งหลาย เพื่อน้ำตาจะอาบตาของเรา และหนังตาของเราจะมีน้ำตาพุออกมา

¹⁹For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we ruined! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because they have cast down our dwellings.

¹⁹เพราะได้ยินเสียงคร่ำครวญจากศิโยนว่า `เราทั้งหลายย่อยยับเพียงใดแล้ว เราอับอายหนักหนา เพราะเราได้ทอดทิ้งแผ่นดิน เพราะที่อาศัยของเราได้เหวี่ยงพวกเราออกไป'"

²⁰Yet hear the word of Yahweh, you women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth; and teach your daughters wailing, and everyone her neighbor lamentation.

²⁰หญิงเอ๋ย จงฟังพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์ และให้หูของเจ้ารับพระวจนะจากพระโอษฐ์ของพระองค์ จงสอนบทคร่ำครวญแก่บุตรสาวของเจ้า จงสอนบทเพลงศพแก่เพื่อนบ้านของเธอทุกคน

²¹For death has come up into our windows, it is entered into our palaces; to cut off the children from outside, and the young men from the streets.

²¹เพราะความตายได้ขึ้นมาเข้าหน้าต่างของเรา มันเข้ามาในวังทั้งหลายของเรา ตัดพวกเด็กๆออกเสียจากข้างนอก และตัดคนหนุ่มๆออกเสียจากถนนทั้งหลาย

²²Speak, Thus says Yahweh, The dead bodies of men shall fall as dung on the open field, and as the handful after the harvester; and none shall gather them.

²²จงพูดว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า `ศพมนุษย์จะล้มลงเหมือนมูลสัตว์ตกตามพื้นทุ่ง เหมือนฟ่อนข้าวล้มตามผู้เกี่ยว และไม่มีผู้ใดจะเก็บ'"

²³Thus says Yahweh, Don’t let the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, don’t let the rich man glory in his riches;

²³พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า "อย่าให้ผู้มีปัญญาอวดในสติปัญญาของตน อย่าให้ชายฉกรรจ์อวดในความเข้มแข็งของตน อย่าให้คนมั่งมีอวดในความมั่งคั่งของตน

²⁴but let him who glories glory in this, that he has understanding, and knows me, that I am Yahweh who exercises loving kindness, justice, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, says Yahweh.

²⁴แต่ให้ผู้อวดอวดในสิ่งนี้คือในการที่เขาเข้าใจและรู้จักเราว่าเราคือพระเยโฮวาห์ ทรงสำแดงความเมตตา ความยุติธรรม และความชอบธรรมในโลก เพราะว่าเราพอใจในสิ่งเหล่านี้" พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ

²⁵Behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will punish all those who are circumcised in uncircumcision:

²⁵พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า "ดูเถิด วันเวลากำลังมาถึงแล้ว เมื่อเราจะลงโทษบรรดาผู้ที่รับพิธีเข้าสุหนัตพร้อมด้วยผู้ที่ไม่ได้รับพิธีเข้าสุหนัต คือ

²⁶Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that have the corners of their hair cut off, who dwell in the wilderness; for all the nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in heart.

²⁶อียิปต์ ยูดาห์ เอโดม และคนอัมโมน โมอับและบรรดาคนที่อยู่ในมุมที่ไกลที่สุด ทุกคนที่อาศัยอยู่ในถิ่นทุรกันดาร เพราะบรรดาประชาชาติเหล่านี้มิได้รับพิธีเข้าสุหนัต และบรรดาวงศ์วานอิสราเอลก็มิได้รับพิธีเข้าสุหนัตทางใจ"
