¹At that time, says Yahweh, they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves;

¹"พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า ในกาลครั้งนั้น กระดูกของบรรดากษัตริย์ยูดาห์ กระดูกเจ้านาย กระดูกปุโรหิต กระดูกผู้พยากรณ์ และกระดูกของชาวเมืองเยรูซาเล็มจะมีคนเอาออกมาจากอุโมงค์ของเขาทั้งหลายเหล่านั้น

²and they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the army of the sky, which they have loved, and which they have served, and after which they have walked, and which they have sought, and which they have worshiped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried, they shall be for dung on the surface of the earth.

²และเขาจะกระจายกระดูกเหล่านั้นออกต่อหน้าดวงอาทิตย์ ดวงจันทร์ และบริวารแห่งฟ้าสวรรค์ทั้งสิ้น ซึ่งเขาทั้งหลายรักและปรนนิบัติ ซึ่งเขาได้ติดสอยห้อยตาม ซึ่งเขาได้แสวงหาและนมัสการ จะไม่มีใครรวบรวมหรือฝังกระดูกเหล่านี้ แต่จะเป็นเหมือนมูลสัตว์ที่พื้นดิน

³Death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue that remain of this evil family, that remain in all the places where I have driven them, says Yahweh of Armies.

³บรรดาคนที่เหลืออยู่จากครอบครัวร้ายนี้ ซึ่งตกค้างอยู่ในสถานที่ทั้งสิ้นซึ่งเราได้ขับไล่เขาไป จะเลือกความตายยิ่งกว่าที่จะมีชีวิตอยู่ พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้

⁴Moreover you shall tell them, Thus says Yahweh: Shall men fall, and not rise up again? Shall one turn away, and not return?

⁴เจ้าจงพูดกับเขาทั้งหลายว่า พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า เมื่อมนุษย์ล้มลง เขาจะไม่ลุกขึ้นอีกหรือ ถ้าผู้หนึ่งผู้ใดหันไป เขาจะไม่หันกลับมาหรือ

⁵Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.

⁵ทำไมชาวเยรูซาเล็มนี้จึงได้หันไป เป็นการกลับสัตย์อยู่เป็นนิตย์ เขายึดการหลอกลวงไว้มั่น เขาทั้งหลายปฏิเสธไม่ยอมกลับ

⁶I listened and heard, but they didn’t speak aright: no man repents him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? everyone turns to his course, as a horse that rushes headlong in the battle.

⁶เราได้ตั้งใจและคอยฟัง แต่เขาทั้งหลายก็พูดไม่ถูกต้อง ไม่มีคนใดกลับใจจากความชั่วของตน กล่าวว่า `ฉันได้ทำอะไรไปแล้วบ้าง' ทุกคนหันไปตามทางของเขาเอง เหมือนม้าวิ่งหัวทิ่มเข้าไปในสงคราม

⁷Yes, the stork in the sky knows her appointed times; and the turtledove and the swallow and the crane observe the time of their coming; but my people don’t know Yahweh’s law.

⁷แม้ว่านกกระสาดำบนฟ้ายังรู้จักเวลากำหนดของมัน และนกเขา นกนางแอ่น และนกกรอด ได้รักษาเวลามาของมัน แต่ประชาชนของเราไม่รู้จักคำตัดสินของพระเยโฮวาห์

⁸How do you say, We are wise, and the law of Yahweh is with us? But, behold, the false pen of the scribes has worked falsely.

⁸เจ้าจะพูดได้อย่างไรว่า `เรามีปัญญา และพระราชบัญญัติของพระเยโฮวาห์ก็อยู่กับเรา' แต่ดูเถิด แน่นอนเขาทำอย่างไร้ประโยชน์ คือปากกาของพวกอาลักษณ์ได้ทำอย่างไร้ประโยชน์

⁹The wise men are disappointed, they are dismayed and taken: behold, they have rejected the word of Yahweh; and what kind of wisdom is in them?

⁹คนมีปัญญาจะได้รับความอาย เขาจะคร้ามกลัวและถูกจับตัวไป ดูเถิด เขาได้ปฏิเสธพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์ และปัญญาอย่างใดมีในตัวเขาเล่า

¹⁰Therefore will I give their wives to others, and their fields to those who shall possess them: for everyone from the least even to the greatest is given to covetousness; from the prophet even to the priest every one deals falsely.

¹⁰เพราะฉะนั้น เราจะให้ภรรยาของเขาตกไปเป็นของคนอื่น ให้ไร่นาของเขาตกแก่ผู้ที่จะได้รับเป็นมรดก เพราะว่าตั้งแต่คนที่ต่ำต้อยที่สุดถึงคนที่ใหญ่โตที่สุด ทุกคนโลภอยากได้กำไร ตั้งแต่ผู้พยากรณ์ถึงปุโรหิต ทุกคนก็ทำการฉ้อเขา

¹¹They have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

¹¹เขาได้รักษาแผลแห่งบุตรสาวประชาชนของเราแต่เล็กน้อย กล่าวว่า `สันติภาพ สันติภาพ' เมื่อไม่มีสันติภาพเสียเลย

¹²Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among those who fall; in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, says Yahweh.

¹²เมื่อเขากระทำการอันน่าสะอิดสะเอียน เขาละอายหรือ เปล่าเลย เขาไม่ละอายเสียเลย เขาหน้าแดงด้วยความละอายไม่เป็นเลย เพราะฉะนั้นเขาจะล้มลงท่ามกลางพวกที่ล้มแล้ว ในเวลาแห่งการลงอาญาเขาทั้งหลาย เขาจะล้มคว่ำลง พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ

¹³I will utterly consume them, says Yahweh: no grapes shall be on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them.

¹³พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า เราจะผลาญเขาเป็นแน่ เถาองุ่นจะไม่มีผล หรือต้นมะเดื่อไม่มีผล ใบก็จะเหี่ยวแห้งไป และสิ่งใดที่เราให้เขาก็อันตรธานไปจากเขา"

¹⁴Why do we sit still? Assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the fortified cities, and let us be silent there; for Yahweh our God has put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against Yahweh.

¹⁴ทำไมเราจึงนั่งนิ่งๆ จงพากันมา ให้เราเข้าไปในหัวเมืองที่มีป้อม และนิ่งเสียที่นั่นเถิด เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเราจะทรงให้เรานิ่ง และทรงประทานน้ำดีหมีให้เราดื่ม เพราะเราได้กระทำบาปต่อพระเยโฮวาห์

¹⁵We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and behold, dismay!

¹⁵เรามองหาสันติภาพ แต่ไม่มีความดีอะไรมาเลย เรามองหาเวลารักษาให้หาย แต่ประสบความสยดสยอง

¹⁶The snorting of his horses is heard from Dan: at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones the whole land trembles; for they have come, and have devoured the land and all that is in it; the city and those who dwell therein.

¹⁶"เสียงคะนองแห่งม้าของเขาก็ได้ยินมาจากเมืองดาน แผ่นดินทั้งสิ้นก็หวั่นไหวด้วยเสียงร้องของกองอาชาของเขา มันทั้งหลายมากินแผ่นดินและสิ่งทั้งปวงที่อยู่บนนั้นจนหมด ทั้งเมืองและผู้ที่อาศัยอยู่ในเมือง

¹⁷For, behold, I will send serpents, adders, among you, which will not be charmed; and they shall bite you, says Yahweh.

¹⁷เพราะ ดูเถิด เราจะส่งงูเข้ามาท่ามกลางเจ้า คืองูทับทางซึ่งจะผูกด้วยมนตร์ไม่ได้ และมันจะกัดเจ้าทั้งหลาย" พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ

¹⁸Oh that I could comfort myself against sorrow! My heart is faint within me.

¹⁸เมื่อข้าพเจ้าจะปลอบโยนตัวเองเนื่องด้วยความเศร้าโศก จิตใจของข้าพเจ้าก็อ่อนเปลี้ยอยู่ภายใน

¹⁹Behold, the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people from a land that is very far off: isn’t Yahweh in Zion? Isn’t her King in her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their engraved images, and with foreign vanities?

¹⁹ฟังซิ เสียงร้องแห่งบุตรสาวประชาชนของข้าพเจ้า เพราะเหตุคนที่อาศัยอยู่ในแผ่นดินห่างไกล "พระเยโฮวาห์มิได้สถิตในศิโยนหรือ กษัตริย์ของเมืองนั้นไม่อยู่ในนั้นหรือ" "ทำไมเขายั่วยุเราให้โกรธด้วยรูปเคารพสลักของเขา และด้วยพระต่างด้าวของเขา"

²⁰The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.

²⁰"ฤดูเกี่ยวก็ผ่านไป ฤดูแล้งก็สิ้นลงแล้ว และเราทั้งหลายก็ไม่รอด"

²¹For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt: I mourn; dismay has taken hold on me.

²¹เพราะแผลแห่งบุตรสาวประชาชนของข้าพเจ้า หัวใจข้าพเจ้าจึงเป็นแผล ข้าพเจ้าเศร้าหมอง และความสยดสยองก็ยึดข้าพเจ้าไว้มั่น

²²Is there no balm in Gilead? is there no physician there? why then isn’t the health of the daughter of my people recovered?

²²ไม่มีพิมเสนในกิเลอาดหรือ ไม่มีแพทย์ที่นั่นหรือ ทำไมอนามัยแห่งบุตรสาวประชาชนของข้าพเจ้าจึงไม่กลับสู่สภาพเดิมได้
